Press Release:

Public school leaders from Beaufort, Hyde, Tyrrell and Washington counties met recently at Beaufort County Community College to talk about ways the college can better serve their students.

"This was an excellent opportunity for Beaufort County Community College to learn about the needs of high school students in our service area and how we can meet the needs of those students as we partner to prepare our young people for higher education or job training," said BCCC President Barbara Tansey.

During the meeting, Dr. Tansey, Vice President of Academics Crystal Ange and Director of High School Programs Lisa Hill discussed curriculum and continuing education programs offered by the college, such as Career and College Promise, available to area high school students. Joining the BCCC representatives at the meeting were Beaufort County Schools Superintendent Don Phipps and school board Chairman Cindy Winstead, Hyde County Schools Superintendent Randolph Latimore, Tyrrell County Schools Assistant Superintendent Pearl Sutton and school board Chairman Lloyd Armstrong and Washington County Schools Superintendent Joseph Davis and school board Chairman Russell Wilkins. The group shared ideas on providing access to BCCC programs throughout the college's 2,008 square-mile service area.
