    GREENVILLE, N.C. - Two applicants have filed certificate of need applications with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services to develop operating rooms in response to a need determination in the 2023 State Medical Facilities Plan for three operating rooms in Pitt County.

    The applicants propose two projects.

    Pitt County Memorial Hospital Inc. proposes one project:

  • Develop three operating rooms at Vidant Medical Center pursuant to the need determination in the 2023 State Medical Facilities Plan. The project is expected to cost $10.8 million. Two of the operating rooms would be completed in October 2024 and one would be completed in April 2026.

    Eastern Nephrology Associates ASC LLC and Fresenius Vascular Care Greenville MSO LLC propose one project:

  • Develop a new ambulatory surgery center - Eastern Nephrology Associates ASC - with one dedicated vascular operating room and three procedure rooms pursuant to the need determination in the 2023 State Medical Facilities Plan. The project is expected to cost $7.8 million and would be completed in January 2026.

    A public hearing for these projects will be held Aug. 16 at 10:30 a.m. in the Eugene James Auditorium, Pitt County Administrative Office Building, 2nd Floor, 1717 West 5th St. in Greenville.

    Anyone may file written comments concerning this proposal. Comments must be received by the Healthcare Planning and Certificate of Need Section no later than 5 p.m. on July 31.

    Comments may be submitted as an attachment to an email if they are sent to DHSR.CON.Comments@dhhs.nc.gov. Comments may also be mailed to the following address:
