    Raleigh, N.C.     Governor Pat McCrory announced the following direct appointments today:

    North Carolina Dental Society

    Dr. John B. Ludlow (Orange County) - Dr. Ludlow is a professor and graduate program director of the Radiology Section of the Department of Diagnostic Sciences and General Dentistry at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry. He received his D.D.S. from the University of Michigan in 1978 and M.S. in Oral Diagnosis and Radiology in 1983. He joined the UNC faculty in 1989. He is a past president of the American Board of Oral Maxillofacial Radiology and past secretary of the American Board of Oral Medicine. He is a member of the State of North Carolina Radiation Protection Commission. He chairs the Board of Directors of the Caring Dental Professionals of North Carolina, a wellness program for dentists and dental hygienists. Dr. Ludlow is being reappointed to the North Carolina Dental Society.

    North Carolina Medical Society

    Dr. Holly Burge (Wake County) - Dr. Burge currently serves on the WakeMed Foundation Board. She is an abdominal radiologist at Wake Radiology with a special interest in body imaging. She has previously served as President of the WakeMed medical staff. She is board-certified in diagnostic radiology by the American Board of Radiology. Dr. Burge is a member of the American College of Radiology, Radiological Society of North America, American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine, Society of Nuclear Medicine, North Carolina Medical Society and the Wake County Medical Society. Dr. Burge is a representative on the North Carolina Radiation Protection Commission. Dr. Burge is being reappointed to the North Carolina Medical Society.

    North Carolina State Board of Podiatry Examiners

    Dr. David Kirlin (Gaston County) - Dr. Kirlin is a podiatrist at Gaston Foot and Ankle Associates. He graduated from Temple School of Medicine and has been practicing in Gastonia for over 10 years. He currently serves on this board and was elected by his peers to serve another term. The board is selected by having podiatrists across the state vote on their choice of who to represent them on the board.
