Trump case pulled from the docket, yet to be rescheduled
The trial date in the election interference case against former President Donald Trump was postponed, the federal judge overseeing the case confirmed on Friday.
“The court will set a new schedule if and when the mandate is returned,” U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan wrote in the order, handing a victory to the former president as he appeals the case on arguments that he was immune from prosecution.
More than 50 days have passed since Judge Chutkan paused the case amid the former president’s appeal to the D.C. Court of Appeals. Over the past several weeks, she has signaled that the initial March 4 trial date would not hold.
The judge on Friday also wrote that prospective jurors who were asked to appear in court in the coming days won’t have to fill out a written questionnaire.
Special prosecutor Jack Smith tried to block the delay by asking the U.S. Supreme Court to quickly issue a decision on whether President Trump is protected by presidential immunity in the election case. But the high court rejected the special counsel’s request, sending the case back to the D.C. Court of Appeals.
It’s not clear when the D.C. appeals court will render its decision, while legal analysts have previously said that the case might very well be pushed back until after the November election. A three-judge panel for the court heard oral arguments over the immunity case in early January.
His lawyers, in their appeal to the D.C. court, have said that the former president is immune from prosecution because the activity after the 2020 election was carried out in his official capacity as president. Depending on the outcome of that appeal, President Trump may appeal that case ultimately to the U.S. Supreme Court.
The lawyers also asserted that he shouldn’t face criminal charges because he wasn’t convicted in the Senate during his second impeachment trial over his activity after the 2020 election and for the breach of the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021.
Mr. Smith’s team charged President Trump with four counts, including conspiring to defraud the United States and to obstruct an official proceeding. He has pleaded not guilty, saying the case is motivated by a political animus against him that’s designed to upend his 2024 presidential campaign.
Other Cases
The former president still faces another trial in New York in March on state criminal charges related to alleged hush money payments he made during the 2016 election. He also faces charges in Florida for allegedly retaining classified documents after leaving the White House and in Georgia, where he faces state charges related to the election.

You. You have said the 2020 elections were stolen. If true, all those elected in 2020 may not have been the true winner. Sure, you want to paint it as not happening here, but that wont hold water. iF BC elections were fair, so was everyone else's. To say fraud only existed where the big dumb orange guy lost not credible and frankly childish.
I can respect different viewpoints, but have no respect for temper tantrums thrown by adults who should know better. |

John Steed: Your mention of "Democrat election shyster Marc Elias," signifies the flayed raw emotions of patriots, when NOW they are in near unanimous consensus in their conclusions that the Non Patriot Left did steal the 2020 election to put Basement Boy, and others, in office so that his incredibly low could IQ could be managed and manipulated for their nefarious purpose.
Still, the campaign at hand will have to run on the fulsome issues born of Leftist utter incompetence; and while NOW the constant and open corruption of the Non patriot must be an issue, it will be just one issue to present to the Good people within this Representative Republic. The consensus of the big cheat in 2020, made into conventional knowledge to all who keep open eyes and patriot hearts, by the continued election interference and ongoing institutional corruption now fully understood by the Patriot Class, will be the underlying impetus to work diligently and vigilantly to thwart the worst of the Democratic Socialists who will continue to cheat by whatever corrupt means necessary. This is NOW their nature to do so, and it will not stop unless we stop them from that process. |

America, in effect, lost that election, which was largely due to factors like the lawsuits by Democrat election shyster Marc Elias to change election laws and procedures to make it easier to cheat, and by outside far left groups like ZUckerberg and his ZuckBucks being injected into running election offices.
The important thing though is that by all measures, our country was a heck of a lot better run and better off under Trump than under Biden. That is why Biden is afraid to run against Trump and is trying to take him out with Third World strongarm tactics like taking Trump off the ballot, something Venezuela did with the main challenger to its far left dictator, or put him in jail, which is something Pakistan's government just did to a former prime minister who was their chief opponent, and which Putin has done to several opponents, most recently Aleksi Navalny. The teetering rulers of Argentina tried to do that to its new president Javier Milei, but he beat that scam and then beat them by a landslide in the election. |

Biden is behaving just like Putin, trying to put his chief challenger in prison on made up charges. Pakistan's current government just did that to a former prime minister who polls showed might beat them, and one can find it all through the Third World.
In the US it shows the Democrats two-tier justice system, where egregious misuse of classified documents by Hillary and Biden are winked at, but use of such documents that is likely in full compliance with the Presidential Records Act by Trump suddenly becomes a criminal offense. Or the "election denial" gambits of Hillary, Al Gore, and others is winked at but those of Trump are prosecuted. That is Third World political use of courts and totally un-American. |
