News release:

    Good Afternoon:

Hopefully Chantal is a memory, however, we are keeping an eye on her remnants. We do have a very wet pattern developing for the next 72 hours and we must urge: “Be Weather Aware”. We can expect two to three inches of rain during this time period, with locally heavy downpours creating very limited visibility. When combined with wind gust of thirty-five miles-per-hour and areas of local ponding of water on the roadways driving could become challenging at best. There will likely be periods of vivid lightning, but the thunderstorms are not expected to reach Severe status during this time frame. (Severe storms have wind gust exceeding 60 mph, embed or in front of the storm.)

County employees and all First Responders are urged to use caution whenever they are traveling in this kind of weather and show great amounts of patience with other drivers who are less familiar with our roads. For everyone working during the hours of darkness this just adds another reason to use caution and encourage them not to; “Out run your headlights”. Check your Defensive Driving Book if you do not understand the last quote.

Please use caution if you encounter a water covered roadway as the best course of action is to: “Turn around so you don’t Drown”. Please remember if you are driving and encounter a thunderstorm and decide to pull off the roadway to wait out the storm; make sure your entire vehicle is a safe distance off of the roadway. Many an accident has been caused by drivers pulling over, but leaving part of their car on the roadway and getting hit by another motorist vehicle during the low visibility created by the storm.

Thank You for your service to the citizens of Beaufort County.

When President Trump professes "America First," he absolutely means it to his core, and to our benefit as a Representative Republic, which is a welcome change from the previous administration of Idiot President Biden; America's second Non Patriot President.
