Press Release:

Raleigh, NC     Governor Pat McCrory will meet with military and congressional leaders Wednesday in Washington, D.C. to highlight the importance of the military and veterans in North Carolina. North Carolina has the third-highest active duty military presence in the country, with more than 769,00 veterans calling North Carolina home.

"We need to protect and grow our military assets. I'll be in Washington to support our military installations," said Governor McCrory. "This community supports 540,000 jobs across the state."

While in Washington, Governor McCrory will meet with officials at the Pentagon to discuss the military's impact on North Carolina. The governor will also meet with North Carolina's Congressional Delegation to discuss ways to further support the military and veterans.

North Carolina's military community consists of six major installations with more than 150 National Guard and Army Reserve facilities.

The governor's trip will build upon initiatives geared toward supporting the military community and veterans in North Carolina, such as the governor's Military Affairs Commission, North Carolina's first Veterans Treatment Court and other measures to better connect veterans with jobs.
