In some of our counties the community colleges are trying to camouflage the DEI programs with other language. That's not so at Beaufort Community College. They are wearing it like a badge of honor.

If it wasn't obvious well before now, it certainly is now. The majority of this board is not committed at all to transparency. This board majority does not care what the community thinks unless it is a segment of the public parroting them - so much for real diversity. They are perfectly content playing the role of big shot/cheerleader brown nosers.

Think I'll call my rep and ask him why he tries to meet those fellows half-way. Do they ever return the favor?

My takeaway from this is I prefer a more systematic approach to decision making like Dr. Blinson has laid out here. I acknowledge that way of planning is a rarity these days.

As has happened several times since I've been interacting on this site, the discussion of whatever issue being dealt with has been overridden by what seems to be a very bitter personal battle where reason and logic is nowhere to be found. On a previous discussion I found it necessary to do some personal research in order to have some idea what was being argued - in that case it was the legality or illegality of banning ex-officio members from the Repub executive committee.

I've had to do personal research again about the animosity going on in this strand. This keeps going back to the present-day BC Repub executive committee and the hatred they have for the Beaufort County Conservative Club. It seems that the current officers of the Repub Executive Committee are relative newcomers to the area - a little over or a little under a decade or so in most cases. The roots of the Conservative Club go back several decades to a time where they started as the Beaufort County Republican Men's Club. There was a time when both groups worked in the Republican Party albeit with some tensions. In recent years the newcomers decided that the conservatives had to be outright banned from the party, so we now in effect have two hostile Republican groups: The official Republicans who operate under a sort of loose association with official Republican stated principles and the Conservatives with a more serious adherence to stated Republican principles.

It seems the executive committee folks view the conservatives as demons or worse while the conservatives are wondering just who these new folks are that want to dictate who they can associate with and what they can think and say.

The Republican Executive Committee meets monthly on the second Thursday at 6:30 pm at the Republican HQs. The Conservative Club meets on the third Thursday at 6 pm in the King Chicken meeting room. I'm thinking about checking both out, but a little voice in my head keeps insisting that may a very bad idea! Oh well, there's still the bunker.

Speaking of the Beaufort County Commission: Of the three "self-proclaimed bipartisan centrist" Republican commissioners, two were Democrats that changed party in order to get elected. One of those tried first as a Democrat and failed, the other changed shortly before running the first time. The third is a transplanted northern progressive Republican. I think all three are now on the county Repub exec. committee as at-large members. As county commissioners they are at least ex-officio members anyway.

Not so for the two conservative Republican commissioners. From what I hear it isn't likely the exec. committee leadership would allow them to be at-large members. They don't even recognize the ex-officio membership status of one of the conservative commissioners.

The Beaufort County Executive Committee is clearly an anti-conservative pro-progressive organization that is many times out of step with the Republican Party platform and the Republican Party plan of organization.

Considering any future sheriff race or any other local race, I wouldn't be surprised what this organization did.

The thing I'm wondering about is if the commissioner in question that was asked to leave the exec. committee is now back on the Repub. exec. committee. I suppose he'll be running for office again as a Republican in two years.

What happened to Dunn really shows where this so called Repub committee is. They move against Dunn who did nothing wrong, while they reluctantly kindly ask a real traitor to leave for awhile, because his brazen treason act got attention.

It's easy to see why a lot of credible people refuse to have anything to do with this Repub exec. committee.

JS: He didn't just use SOME dictionary definition; he used a very selective source. I suspect he used Wikipedia rather than an actual dictionary in order to bend it to his spin on things. But you're right, even using his choice of definitions he better describes Biden than Trump.

BB actually mentioned something interesting: Why was MLK shot and killed? The FBI presented a case for who and why - James Earl Ray and racism. The King family doesn't believe the FBI. I imagine we've got about as straight a story on this as we do the JFK assassination.

Concerning working to support the movement, I must be way younger than B Bob.

Back to the WHS vandalism: Hood is right. Where's the transparency and accountability? The questions by JV need to be answered.

Yes, Bp might be a central office staffer. One of my associates think it is more likely one of those Repub exec. committee officers with severe HDS. Whatever, it is pathetic excuse for rational argument.

While I think JM made a good point, Hood's complaint about how decisions are made in this county is valid also. His point is valid enough that I consider it to be a county wide problem that does not need to be swept under the rug under the guise of hateful Hood bashing. We should appreciate public servants that have the backbone to do their job. Bottom line: More effort was put into getting lottery money to spend then making a plan for BCSs.

LOL - Broken up? More like concerned. So. Some masked man I do not know accuses me of being arrogant and non-repentant (for something unspecified) as well as being stupid. Even so, he is interested in my thoughts on two landmark books: 1) a popular 19th century fictional novel 2) the 1901 autobiography of Booker T. Washington. Sorry dude, I did those book reports a long time ago for a legitimate educator. Perhaps the more relevant question is why does the left support canceling history and tradition in our society?
