The problem is that we have big government "Republicans" in the leadership positions, Speaker Tim Moore, and Senate president pro tem Phil Berger, both of whom are in the hip pocket of the Big Medicine special interests. In addition we have a group of other special interest Repubicans who do the bidding of Big Medicine like Reps. Tim Reeder and Jon Hardister and Sen. Jim Perry. All of them look out for the special interests, especially Big Medicine, and not the people.

Commented on Go woke, go brokeOnly one member of SVB's board had banking experience. The rest were political hacks, and the bank was eaten up by woke ESG and DEI. Bailing out the depositers was a travesty. But many banks are eaten up by woke and are playing the same destructive ESG and DEI games. The rest way to protect our banking system is to prohibit banks from playing the DEI and ESG games with our money.
SVB spent $74 million on the Marxist organization BLM and on radical left "social justice" causes. redstate.com

Commented on Governor Cooper Statement on Medicaid ExpansionIt is disgusting that our RINO big spender House Speaker Tim Moore and our RINO big spender Senate President Phil Berger betrayed Republican voters to sell out to leftwing governr Roy Cooper on the Obamacare Medicaid expansion boondoggle. This will be a huge budget buster in coming years. Locally, we need to never forget that our own local state senator, RINO big spender Jim Perry was one of the leading supporters of this outrageous boondoggle, as was RINO big spender state rep. Tim Reeder next door in Pitt County. Conservative voters need to replace both of those scalawags in the next primary. Throw the bums O-U-T ! Our own state rep. Keith Kidwell was one of the heros in fighting against this despicable boondoggle, not just voting against it, which he did, but also helping lead the fight against it. Primary voters should never forget who the good guys and bad guys were on this terrible piece of legislation.

Commented on Surely we can do betterBig Bob fits right in with Hitler, Stalin, Mao, Castro, and lots of other dictators who took away guns for people control. It is a necessity to establish a dictatorship. The New York Times published an article in the mid 1930s about how one German state had to take the guns away from the Jewish people because the Jewish people were shooting Nazis, and they reported that nonsense with a straight face. Then in 1938, Hitler's Reich gun law took guns away from everybody. I'll bet those Jewish folks wished they still had their guns when the Gestapo came to send them to the camps. While criminals should not have guns, only totalitarians want to take them from law abiding citizens.

Commented on Is Procedure more Important than Substance?"Hold Beaufort County back"????? You sound like a liberal big spending type, NOT a conservative. While I do not agree with any politician on every little thing they do, Richardson has been a stalwart for the taxpayers, fighting to lower our taxes and cut wasteful spending. It is the sell out "Republicans" led by Frankie Waters who collude with the Democrats to keep our taxes high and spend like drunken sailors. I do not know or care about all the inside baseball stuff about what Dunn did or did not do, but what happened with the school security was that Ernie Coleman pulled the plug on the sheriff's department doing that, and the school board plugged the gap. I agree we need to get back to the sheriff doing it, and now that we have a new sheriff who wants to do it, I hope that can be done as soon as possible. It is better security for the children and better value for the taxpayers.

This is part of the steady march to an authoritarian single payer system like Canada or the UK with horrendous waiting lists for people to get care. ECU Health is part of Big Medicine in promoting this. Republican lawyers who voted for this left wing wet dream should be ashamed of themselves. Yes, thats you Jim Perry, Tim Reeder, John Bell, Chris Humphreys. Shame on you. You are involuntarily transfering hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians who now have private health insurance onto the government dole at the taxpayers expense. If they qualify by income for Medicaid, they have to get Medicaid, and can no longer keep their private health insurance, and that sometimes means they cannot keep their doctor. Taxpayers are also being screwed to the wall to pay for this. Big Medicine is an enemy of American freedom, and Republican sellouts who voted for this bill are traitors to Republican voters.

Commented on Malcolm Roberts of QueenslandClimate alarmism is a prime example of President Eisenhower's warning in his Farewell Address about a "scientific-technological elite" getting control of public policy.
Here are President Eisenhower's words, immediately after his warning of a "military-industrial comples": "Akin to, and largely responsible for the sweeping changes in our industrial-military posture, has been the technological revolution during recent decades. In this revolution, research has become central; it also becomes more formalized, complex, and costly. A steadily increasing share is conducted for, by, or at the direction of, the Federal government. Today, the solitary inventor, tinkering in his shop, has been over shadowed by task forces of scientists in laboratories and testing fields. In the same fashion, the free university, historically the fountainhead of free ideas and scientific discovery, has experienced a revolution in the conduct of research. Partly because of the huge costs involved, a government contract becomes virtually a substitute for intellectual curiosity. For every old blackboard there are now hundreds of new electronic computers. The prospect of domination of the nation's scholars by Federal employment, project allocations, and the power of money is ever present and is gravely to be regarded. Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific-technological elite."

The attacks on Fox News are part of a pattern of attacks by the left on media which does not toe their political line, and is a major attack on American democracy. Woke corporations cutting OneAmericaNews and NewsMax off of cable systems at the behest of their Democrat buddies (shades of the corporate state) is another example, as is Biden's State Department funding an organization that promoted advertiser boycotts of conservative news sites. The Biden regime really tipped their hand when they tried to set up a Ministry of Truth. While Biden accuses Republicans of attacking democracy, his regime are the hypocrites who are actually doing it.

Perry also just screwed us on the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, a ultra liberal bill he pushed for to help the special interests.

Exxon's board was infiltrated by rabid climate alarmists. That was engineered by Larry Fink (an apt last name), CEO of woke financial firm Blackrock at Exxon's last shareholder meeting. Fink voted the proxies of the many state pension funds that Blackrock manages to force these eco-loons onto the board. That is why a parade of states, including North Carolina is either removing Blackrock as manager of their state pension funds or at least taking those proxies away from them. Fink is very active in Klaus Schwab's totalitarian World Economic Forum.

Conservatives want to protect children from genital mutilation. Liberals decry genital mutilation in Africa but promote it for children here. Or take the ACLU, which denounces use of chemical castration drugs on convicted rapists but demands those very same dangerous drugs be made availible for use on confused children who have committed no crime.

Commented on You can change thisThe School Board did NOT "investigate" 28 curricula. That is apparently the number the ultra-liberal Cooper-controlled state Board of Education approved, all "woke" to one degree or another. Superintendant Cheeseman handpicked a committee of school staff (NOT the school board members) who selected this SAVVAS curriculum and that was the only one presented to the school board, take it or leave. It was like a Soviet ballot - only one choice, yes or no. This is incredibly arrogant for staff to treat the elected decision making body this way.
It was refreshing to see our new conservative school board members do their own research on SAVVAS, which is easy enough to do these days with a computer. It is a very "woke" company, which even had its MATH curriculum rejected in Florida for being injected with "woke". A controversy in Arizona over SAVVAS' science curriculum that claimed that there are more than two genders even made the British newspaper. Do I detect a little sour grapes on your own loss in the School Board race?

Hardly "access to health care". What Obamacare Medicaid expansion does is push 120,000 North Carolinians who now have private health insurance, mostly as a benefit of their job onto the Medicaid dole instead. It makes those 120,000 North Carolinians no longer eligible for private health insurance and forces them onto a welfare type program. Many doctors who take private insurance do not take Medicaid, so that will deprive some of them of their doctors. This does these 120,000 North Carolinians no favors.
Oh, and North Carolina has just been informed that we will have to pay the feds another billion dollars a year for the state's part of Medicaid. This is about making people dependant on government, not about providing better health care, and it stinks. Those Republican legislators who betrayed North Caorlina on this will never get my vote.

Natural gas has nothing to do with it. As Duke Energy clearly said, their double digit rate increase is due to using solar and wind, which are more expensive and require a lot more infrastructure changes. They are also intermittant sources that must be backed up when they are not producing with power bought at expensive prices on the spot market.

Having worked in state government in the department that oversaw those hospitals, you have at best a half truth. It was the left saying that it was more humane to put most of the mental patients out on the streets responsible for the major downsising of mental hospitals. Tht fact that the Democrats who then controlled federal spending because they controlled Congress did start cutting funds played some role, but the ultimate decision was made at the state level, and that again was by the Democrat Jim Hunt admnistration, backed by a Democrat controlled legislature.

OUr taxes are too high and Beaufort County taxpayers need a reduction badly. Unfortunately, we have a spendthrift liberal county manager who wants to spend like a drunken sailor, and a trans-partisan big spending coalition which wants to let him.
The commissioners need to do the cutting. Leaving it up to those who really do not want to cut anything, like our spendthrift county manager, does not work well. Such people historically tend to cut bone and muscle, not fat, because they want to do things that taxpayers do not want. Commissioners need to zero in on the fluff in our budget, and there is a lot of it, and make the surgical cuts in the right places. That stupid $90,000 spin doctor should be at the top of the list.

Mental hospitals have always been a state function, NOT a federal function. The left thought it was better and more humane to put the inmates out on the street. The major downsizing of mental health hospitals in North Carolina occured during the administration of Democrat Governor Jim Hunt. The drunks and drug addicts were previously the long term homeless, and this added a big new component to them.

Those homeless in past years would have been housed in mental health facilities, but the left decided it was more "humane" to turn them out on the streets. Besides the mentally ill, most of the rest are drug addicts.

Another issue of huge concern to conservatives is the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, which RINOs are trying to sell us out to the special interests on. So far the House is standing firm against it, with Keith Kidwell one of those helping hold the line. Sellout mania is terrbie in the Senate, and one of the ringleaders of it is RINO Jim Perry wno (mis)represents Beaufort County in the Senate. Both RINO legislative "leaders" PHil Berger in the Senate and Tim Moore in the House are all-in on selling out to Roy Cooper, the Democrats, and the special interests on Obamacare Medicaid expansion. Republicans in the General Assembly need new leadership who will work for Republican principles, not for Democrats and special interests, and this district needs a new state senator who is not a whore to the special interests like Perry is.

Nothing seems to have been revealed about how much this curriculum costs, which should be a consideration in which course to choose. Also, other options should be presented to the school board. It is arrogant by the administration to present only one on a take it or leave it basis. The content of this curriculum is of great concern, but cost should also be considered. The school board should have more than one course to choose between. The more the merrier, and the better to compare both content and cost. The superintendant seems to be usurping th duties of the school board and trying to turn them into a rubber stamp. The school board should not stand for this and neither should the voters.

Commented on Carbon credits are the big scamExxon, thanks to the interference of Larry Fink (apt last name) of Blackrock, now has 3 climate crazies on their board, so any of their "math" is probably of the Common Core variety - where 2 + 2 can be anything you want it to be. It is great to see many states pulling their pension funds (and the shares of stock they represent) out of "woke" Blackrock so they will not be used for political purposes like Fink did at Exxon.
Natural warming and cooling cycles have nothing to do with emissions of anything. In fact, they are mostly driven by the sun. They have happened as long as the Earth has existed, and will continue as long as it does. The far left is getting its panties in a twist over a fake issue. In fact, some predictions on solar cycles point to a cooling period starting in the not too distant future. I feel sorry for the true believers in the climate alarmist myth that is in particular being drummed into school children. At least in the UK, the British High Court ruled that Al Gore's "Inconvenient Truth" movie is a propaganda film containing multiple misttatements of fact and ordered that it not be shown to school children without disclaimers of those things.

Commented on Carbon credits are the big scamNatural climate change IS real. It changes every year between winter, spring, summer, and fall. It is cold in winter, hot in summer, and warm in spring and fall. Then there are the longer natural climate cycles running multiple centuries. We came out of the last natural colling cycle, known to climatologists as the Little Ice Age or Maunder Minimum in the 19th century and have been in a natural warming cycle since. The last natural warming cycle, the Medieval Warm Period was warmer than it is today. The longest natural warming cycle, the Holocene Maximum, lasted three thousand years and was much warmer than today.
Manmade global warming? That is just leftwing political poppycock, now being used by the globalists to try to scare people into giving up their freedoms. The immediate past president of the Czech Republic, Dr. Vaclav Klaus, wrote a very good book on that subject, "Blue Planet in Green Shackles: What is in jeopardy, climate or freedom?". Oh, I know that the biggest doomsday cult in history, which ought to be called Climate Scientology, keeps trying to scare people with their dire predictions. But you know what? Dozens of their dire predictions have already passed the date they were supposed to happen, and not a single one of those dire predictions has actually come to pass. In fact, not a one of them was even close. With that record of false prophecies, only a blithering idiot would believe anything they have to say. Exxon-Mobile? Larry Fink of ESG machine Blackrock inserted three climate crazies onto their board of directors at their last stockholder meeting, one of the reasons many states are withdrawing their pension funds from Blackrock. After that, anything they have to say on the subject is very highly suspect.
