Switzerland has strong gun rights, the second highest percentage of civilian gun ownership in the world, and a requirement that every able bodied male keep a military rifle and ammo at home. You do not see them having the sort of riots that other European countries have been faced with. The Czech Republic last year adopted a Constitutional amendment protecting gun rights even stronger than our Second Amendment, and you do not see riots there, either. Both also have some of the lowest crime rates in Europe.

Paper ballots provide a more honest and dependable result. It is good to see this case going forward. The fact that Argentina did away with all its voting machines and went back to paper ballots probably has a lot to do with the honest election result of the conservative candidate there.

ANY court that denies a party a change of venue when that is necessary to their getting a fair trial is a kangaroo court. I hang my head in sorrow over the way the far left is destroying the integrity of American courts. Too much politics and too little justice.

Whether or not a court is a kangaroo court is based on its actions or lack of actions, not where it happens to be located.

Here is another double standard. After the George Floyd incident, Nancy Pelosi held a press conference in which she said "I don't know why there aren't riots in the streets; perhaps there will be". Thereafter the Antifa / BLM insurrection erupted. She has never been even investigated for helping incite that mayhem. On the other hand, the Democrat persecutors, err, prosecutors, want to send Trump to prison for the rest of his life for urging rally attendees to "peacefully and patriotically protest" at the Capitol. Hitler was elected but started acting like a dictator by ruling by executive order, just like Biden has done. Trying to jail your political opponents is also the mark of a dictator.

Actually, the closest thing the United States has had to a dictator was Abraham Lincoln, who abolished habeas corpus, jailed elected Maryland state legislators without formal charges as political prisoners, forced a Congressional opponent, Congressman Clement Van Landingham, to flee the country, suppressed freedom of the press and speech, and otherwise goosestepped all over Constitutional freedoms. Of course, during that time, North Carolina's president was named Jefferson Davis, so none of those things happened in our state.

ANother outrage in Washington City government is the abuse of city resources to advance the campaign of Donald Sadler. This is just corrupt. After Bobby Roberson sent out a postcard on Sadler's big tax increase of last year, the city website put up a dishonest response on its webpage to defend Sadler, saying there was no tax increase THIS YEAR. That was misleading, dishonest, and electioneering with government resources.

This year, Sadler did back off his original plan for a second year of tax increases with a new 8% increase piled on last year's 12%, but he shifted to a huge increase in "stormwater fees" instead. But that is not the issue Roberson raised. His mailing was specifically directed at last year's massive tax increase. By concentrating on this year's taxes, they set up a straw man in order to knock it down.

Someone needs to investigate this misuse of city resources for political purposes and heads need to roll. To what extent was the city manager involved in this, for example?

We have a very, very corrupt city and we are now stuck with it for another two years.

From talking to some of the candidates at the polls today, I have been told that between early voting and today's precinct votes, all of the candidates have made at least some time to come out and shake voters hands, some more than others, but with one notable exception, Ellen Brabo. Brabo seems to be there with bells on if it a Chamber of Commerce related event or an LGBTQ event, buy seems to shun opportunities to talk with average voters. She runs her own business and could certainly give herself time off to do so if she wanted. This is really an arrogant attitude toward voters. Some candidates like Mary Beedle still won't tell you where they stand on anything but at least they show up.

Mayor Sadler is lying through his teeth to voters about taxes. When asked about LAST YEAR's tax increase, he starts talking about THIS YEAR'S attempted tax increase and says there was no tax increase, that he did a storm water fee increase instead. That is a half truth because it is correct about his attempt to raise taxes AGAIN this year, but implies he did not raise taxes LAST year which, in fact, he DID.

We don't need a double talking crooked politician like Donald Sadler.
