What strikes me most is how preventable all of this was. Bobby Roberson stepped up in a difficult moment for this city and has been treated like an obstacle rather than an asset. Whether Rorie gets hired or not, somebody needs to stand up publicly for what was done to that man. The silence from the rest of the council including the Tax Team has been just as loud as Perreault's outbursts.

Katie Hobbs is a cheat. She didn't campaign because she knew the outcome before voting happened.

I looked back on the meeting video and I voted with Hood and Stan. I think we all forgot Rebholtz was absent so vote was actually tied. We are so use to 5 3 vote totals. Might need to revisit this.

We are so glad to have discovered the forum, it's really the thing my friends and I have been searching for. The up to date info here on the website is beneficial and constructive and is going to offer my kids and I a couple times a week productive information. It seems like everyone acquired a lot of details concerning this and the other links and information definitely are inherent. I'm not typically on the internet very much so as my wife and I get an opportunity I'm usually hunting this type of knowledge or stuff likewise just like it. I'll tell others about this website.

Walter Jones received an A* from Numbers USA, the major anti-amnesty organization. He is the one we can trust on this issue. Taylor Griffin is a beltway insider who would just cave in to Boehner and Cantor's attempts to pass amnesty and sell us out. ''Normalization'' that Griffin says he supports is just another term among the open borders liberals for a form of amnesty. Taylor Griffin's ads saying he is against amnesty are clearly not truthful.

This article ignores a major issue, and that is illegal immigration. Rouzer was a K Street lobbyist in Washington, DC, another thing overlooked in the article, and in that capacity, Rouzer lobbied for amnesty for illegal aliens. That is why ALIPAC has endorsed White.

We do not need beltway insiders who have been K Street lobbyists like Rouzer and Taylor Griffin representing us in Congress, as they would be more oriented to the beltway elite than the voters back home.

The 2025 BC GOP Plan of Organization enacted March 22, 2025 calls for a minimum of six Executive Committee meetings per year.

This BC GOP 2025 Plan of Organization is not to be confused with the State DRAFT plan of 2025, which was not approved at the 2025 state convention or the DRAFT 2026 state plan that will be presented at the June 13, 2026 state convention.

John Steed,
It is easy to see how the GOP elites sway the machinations of the GOP. They rig the state party conventions in many ways to prevent the grassroot republicans from having any influence over the outcomes. The Plan of Organization is ignored or overridden by parliamentary procedures; attendees are shutdown from speaking by ruling comments or motions from the floor ruled out of order, and counting votes for chairman and other officers from members not in attendance.
Participates are discouraged from attending by charging exorbitant fees to attend the many functions they have during the three days. When you add the three nights hotel expenses and travel, it can easily cost $800 to attend and participate in all the functions.
Why attend if your vote is going to count even though you are not in attendance?

The protestations coming from those who perceive powers they do not have is also illustrated when it comes to the Beaufort County Republican Party Plan of Organization (PoO). When it suits there position, they drive it hard. When the PoO does not comport with there desires, it is ignored or there are efforts to change it to meet their desires. That desire is total control of the electoral process, be it in local, state, or federal elections. Should an undesirable slip by, the strategy then moves to use every thing that elected official does or says as a cudgel to drive them from the political stage. Challenges to the status quo will not be tolerated.

I believe there's some misdirected anger here in Mr. Clifton's essay. To prove it, just consider the following questions.

Did Goodwin oppose Obamacare's federal insurance intervention? Yes.

Did he work with GOP legislative leaders as they fought Obamacare in court? Yes, as far as I can tell.

Did he support the positions of the insurance agents in our towns as they fought various Obamacare provisions? Yes.

Did he follow state laws written in opposition to Obamacare by the current legislature? Yes.

And, did he take a position that helps insurance companies be able to resurrect previously-canceled NC insurance policies, if they wanted, and help this state's residents who are harmed by Obamacare? Yes, according to the news last week, and including on the Fox news network.

Doesn't the position he took in seeking uncanceled policies actually undermine Obamacare? Yes.

And didn't he recover over $156,000,000 for citizens harmed by Obamacare, money that was sent to the policyholders back from an insurance company? Yes.

Your original headline, "ObamaCare: While NC fiddles, other states carry on fight to protect residents" and the original post make it sound like our insurance commissioner is doing nothing to protect residents. That is far, far from the truth. Many states aren't doing as much as our commissioner of insurance is.

So what is Mr. Clifton's beef with the state insurance commissioner?

As far as I can tell, though, with the vitriol in this Daily Haymaker post, it appears that the only thing wrong with Insurance Commissioner Goodwin is that he is a Democrat. If you're going to oppose him for his voter registration, please don't gin up some false accusations against him. Just admit that you oppose him because of his party registration, regardless of what his policy positions and record are. Otherwise, it only makes our state Republican Party look petty and dishonest.

These are things Beaufort County readers need to know.

Mel, I mean Thom Tillis thinks he so far behind the curve in his upcoming primary in 2024 that he is considering running for governor.

RINO Tillis will be a one term wonder. Wonder how we got him anyway? The late Sen. Hagen was so bad we were confused, I guess.
