I'm Roland Wyman. Someone mentioned me in one or two comments. Sorry I gave the wrong impression, but I AM NOT a Liberal... far from it. I was not part of the Sadler group and further, I was not even involved in government during his tenure. The only reason I am not a registered Republican is that there are aspects of their national platform that I don't agree with. There is nothing about Liberals that I agree with. I just wanted to set the record straight. I hold the Constitution dear and fought for it during the late '60s. I believe strtongly in 2A. I was a marksman and I have carried concealed since leaving the military.

delma, you are right on target. don't back off anything you said. there are hundreds of jails, some small and some big, who overbuilt jails at great expense to the taxpayers. some of the overbuilt jails relied on projections of the architects/contractors - who obviously stood to gain financially if the county agreed their projections. others were overbuilt using the "entrepreneurial" angle - arguing that the jail manager could rent/lease the beds to other counties, the state and the feds. hundreds of these entrpreneurial jails are half empty as the rent/lease contracts never came about, or were cancelled, or were greatly over estimated. and since the cost of the jail was to be offset by the rent/lease revenues, the county taxpayer is again underwater as the rent/lease money is insufficient or in some cases - non-existent. gov't should never get into "business" using the taxpayer as their "investors" - thats not what gov't is about. if the state and the feds are renting beds now thats good because you get revenue. however, if the county needs more beds, all you need to do is cancel the state or fed contract, or revise it lower. there are literally hundreds of jails that "over reached", and their taxpayers are suffering those financial consequences. ps - plus when jail operation budgets go up due to expansion, when the jail has abundance of empty beds, the budgets are rarely "reduced". greta investigation work. great analysis. great conclusion.

Stan, having received my April Fools tax accessment, I was floored by the value placed on homes on Hilltop Lane. Based on the last accessment, this is nearly a 300% increase in value since 2002. This is 162K to 483K value. How much are my taxes going up? Russ K

I think there is a decent argument to be made that nonfactual 'news' stories swayed the election, and both sides were taking part in this propaganda method (as for whom was worse, you draw your own conclusions.) I do not think that Facebook and Google are talking about the articles written by puppet journalists for the Clinton Foundation, the manufactured crises, or general misinformation which happens to help reinforce their political stances. That is what I find unsettling. Another thing I find unsettling is that people are getting news from memes, but that's another tragedy.

Bobby Tony,
I can't remember if I ever posted this, but I remember writing once that my original plan was for my writing to particularly focus on the first amendment. Then I realized that by government (and partially citizen) infringement on other rights, the first amendment will crumble along with the others. Would you speak against government corruption if the eye of Big Brother were constantly staring down at you? In the wake of various power grabs (beaufortcountynow.com), I broadened it significantly because I didn't feel it was being discussed enough (yes, including the "conservative media.")
