Good for you Mr. Deatherage! In Pitt County, at our commissioner's meetings we are "allowed" to address the board for 3 minutes (timed) during our public comments session. Beyond that "allowance," I'm not sure how our protocol works. But to your point, we as citizens, should be able to redress grievances. Citizens are often held CAPTIVE to political protocols and their concerns are pushed aside. That of course happens in Pitt County as well.

Commented On Disappearing South, Volume I: Homes Once Alive
Hello Liz,
I am fairly new to this publication but was looking through "posting categories" tonight and ran across the Disappearing South category. You have captured the essence of this category with your pictorial expressions exhibited here. I live in Pitt County and often take notice of crumbling houses, barns, and other structures as I drive. Another category beyond the buildings, is the farm equipment graveyards. It's quite sad that we as a society just cast things aside and allow them to decay at their own speed. And by the way, our historical markers and monuments don't fare much better. I've become much more attuned to history over the last few years . . . but then again . . . I'm a bit of 'history' myself. Hmmm, interesting. Glad this one in Georgia went down in flames. From my perspective, politicians excel at one thing: talking out both sides of their mouths. Whether politicians are local, state, or national, we as constituents should pay attention to their actions and hold their feet to the fire. Most of them are aware of the word "transparency," but fail to practice it. Back room deals are the norm and constituents suffer the consequences.

I no longer live in Atlanta, but have wonderful memories of the Bistro. I married Big Frank who worked there. Tom and Sandy closed the club and my family and a few friends attended. Jimmy Buffet played for my wedding reception! I loved Silverman and Joni Mitchell!! Thanks for the memory.

We have our on people going hungry and many homeless some working people with 2 incomes can't afford housing , have children, Seniors. Veteran. We the peop6of this country sacrificed so much ,We paid into this not the immigrants. Take care of our own people FIRST !!

Commented On School construction corruption
I want to thank Hood for all he does to protect the local taxpayers from wasteful spending. Its a good trait missing among so many other elected politicians.
I watched this Commissioners meeting, where Hood merely asked for a motion to provide direct hands-on oversight, by the County Commissioners of the budget, the spending, & the construction plans of the new school, so that unlike in the past, we wouldnt wake up one day with vast overspending, because those in charge hadnt provided for the parking lot, furniture and whatever. Isnt this the way a govt ends up with $500 hammers and toilet seats?? WHY WOULD those commissioners other than Stan, vote this motion down? WHY dont they want to protect the local taxpayers? It sure seems to me that the majority who voted nay, would rather spoon with an alligator than vote for ANYTHING that Hood suggested. That means that they arent on the side of the citizens, but rather are just shallow, useless, petty, govt pretenders. |

Gary Ceres who never hesitates to spread his warped & hate filled vendetta on public platforms, reminds me of the high school mean girls who make fun & games, while using their "Stinking Thinking" to bring strife and division to the vulnerable public, & in particularly Stan Deatherage, whom they think is so weak, that their words can turn Stan against his friend, & fellow conservative, Hood Richardson.
WHY th local GOP party, hav appointed Ceres 2 be their appointed liaison & representative, to assist 2024 candidates, is a mystery to me. Surely, they can see that he does not have an honest and fair-minded personality to do that job properly. His actions reflect poorly on the local party. He should resign or be fired. |
