If a county is on the type of crazy train that Illinois or Oregon is today, trying to get off makes a lot of sense, but it is extremely difficult. Both states have to agree, and the state losing the tax base is likely to say no.

Bob, in Beaufort County, we have a VERY convoluted system of electing commissioners called "limited voting" which largely destroys the lines of accountability and responsiveness between the voters and commissioners. We need a normal election system like either straight at-large or districts, or some combination of the two, to restore that responsiveness and accountability. "Limited voting" is what the Communist Chinese suggested for Hong Kong elections in their negotiarions on the end of British rule, and the British rejected as totally undemocratic.

The confusing thing is that the School Board has not learned that the Superintendent works for them. He is hired-help. Yet he sits at the front desk with his secretary, alongside the School Board Chairman, and reads the rules for the School Board at each meeting. He is not a member of the board but functions as one. Now Cheeseman is an engineer and didn't even stay at a Holiday Inn last night. Parents need to get involved.

The reason people are living in "burned out tents" is that California Democrats played politicis - DEI, not funding the basics like fire protection, paying $2.6 billion per year for health care for illegal aliens who are not even supposed to be here while cutting money for fire protection. Their woke ideology meant more to them than doing the very basic things governments are supposed to do like fire protection.

THe big problem is we have had a school board majority that just rubberstamp what their liberal superintendant proposes, and never bothers to look into anything themselves. Here we have seen the total management incompetence of that superintendant. His bungling has given the school board itself a black eye. Why did no one know when they proposed this plan that the city owned four acres of the land? Why did no one have a professional appraisial done on its value instead of having a totally unqualified person, the superintendant, just guess at its value? And will this puppet school board give their superintendant a raise again after this fiasco? Will they extend his contract? THey shouldn't if they are going to represent the people of Beaufort County.

Beaufort County's Commissioners are politically subservient to the Center-Left Coalition, a bipartisan majority that swaps votes in a willy-nilly manner to share power, regardless of the cost to Beaufort County's Tax Payers.
This sophistic voting pattern by the Center-Left Coalition, membered by two Democratic Socialists and two RINOs, is that this voting block has been a political cancer upon the leadership of the Beaufort County Board of Commissioners for decades. Their collective depth of knowledge when it come to governing is an inch deep and a mile wide. What is incredible here, regarding the RINOs working closely with the Democratic Socialists here in Beaufort County, is that they have the full support of the Beaufort County GOP.

This may be Germany's last chance to survive as Germany. I hope they get it right in this election. The key is a post-election alliance of the right. The CDU is talking a much better game than they have in years, but a CDU / AfD caolition is all that can save the country.

Last year, California Democrats voted to spend $2.6 Billion per year on free health care for illegal aliens, while the state is $68 Billion in debt, but they cut funds for basic fire protection in a state that has always been prone to wildfires. Their priorities are badly mixed up. Liberal Democrats don't know how to govern properly.
