Governor McCrory Announces Appointments | Eastern North Carolina Now

News Release:

    Raleigh, NC     The Office of Governor Pat McCrory announced the following appointments today:

    State Community Corrections Advisory Board

   •  Phillip Redmond (Iredell County) – Redmond is the sheriff of Iredell County.

   •  Scott Cunningham (Forsyth County) – Dr. Cunningham is the chief of the Kernersville Police Department.

   •  Robert Clinkscales (Perquimans County) – Clinkscales is the director of Barnabas House of North Carolina.

   •  George O'Briant (Wake County) – O'Briant is a case management director for the Durham County Criminal Justice Resource Center.

   •  Linwood Britton (Chowan County) – Britton is the vice president of plant operations with Jimbo's Jumbo Peanuts in Edenton. Governor McCrory pardoned him in December 2013.

    The board reviews the criteria for monitoring and evaluating community-based corrections programs, among other duties. The term length is three years.

    North Carolina State Council for Interstate Adult Offender Supervision

   •  Deborah McSwain (Wake County) – McSwain is the chief deputy general counsel for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety.

   •  Tom Horner (Wilkes County) – Horner is the district attorney in Prosecutorial District 23.

    The council adopts the provisions of the revised Interstate Compact for the Supervision of Adult Offenders. It also provides for the state to participate in the international prisoner transfer program administered by the U.S. Department of Justice. Each term is three years.

    North Carolina Criminal Justice Information Network Governing Board

   •  Shannon Hanes (Wake County) – Hanes works for the North Carolina Department of Public Safety as a business and technology application analyst.

    The board operates the state's Criminal Justice Information Network. The term length is four years.
