Ecolab Inc. To Expand In Greensboro; Adding 45 New Jobs | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Raleigh, N.C. — Governor Pat McCrory, N.C. Commerce Secretary John E. Skvarla III and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C. announced today that Ecolab Inc. will expand its Kay Chemical Company operations in Greensboro and create 45 new jobs over the next three years. The company plans to build a new 37,000 square foot office building and invest $10 million in Guilford County.

    "Kay Chemical Company has had a great corporate presence in Greensboro for years," said Governor McCrory. "By building this new facility and adding theses new jobs, the company is strengthening its continued commitment to North Carolina and to the city of Greensboro."

    Located in Greensboro, Kay Chemical Company is a division of Ecolab Inc. The Kay business specializes in delivering customized programs to meet the unique food safety and sanitation requirements of the quick serve restaurants and retail food markets. It currently has more than 490 employees in North Carolina.

    "North Carolina continues to be a great place for our existing businesses to expand," said Secretary Skvarla. "It is vital that we continue to work with companies such as Kay Chemical with a long history of doing business in North Carolina to strengthen our state's economy."

    Salaries will vary by job but will include financial administration and sales. The average annual salary will be $48,209. The average annual salary for Guilford County is $43,581.

"We have had a great relationship with this community for more than 80 years, and we look forward to continued growth of our Kay business in partnership with the strong workforce in the Triad area."

    The project was made possible in part by a performance-based grant from the One North Carolina Fund of up to $100,000. The One NC Fund provides financial assistance, through local governments, to attract business projects that will stimulate economic activity and create new jobs in the state. Companies receive no money up front and must meet job creation and investment performance standards to qualify for grant funds. These grants also require and are contingent upon local matches.

    "It is great to know that Kay Chemical will be adding new jobs here in Guilford County," said Representative John Blust. "I would like to be one of the first to congratulate the company on its expansion."

    In addition to the N.C. Department of Commerce and the Economic Development Partnership of N.C., other partners that helped with this project include: North Carolina Community College System, Greensboro Partnership Economic Development, and the City of Greensboro.
