Governor Pat McCrory issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court announced its ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, stating that states cannot ban same-gender couples the right to marry in all 50 states.

    Raleigh, N.C. — Governor Pat McCrory issued the following statement after the U.S. Supreme Court announced its ruling in Obergefell v. Hodges, stating that states cannot ban same-gender couples the right to marry in all 50 states.

    "Like many North Carolinians, I still believe the definition of marriage should be determined by the states and it should be the union between one man and one woman. However, I took an oath to uphold the constitution which compels me as governor to ensure that North Carolina upholds the rule of law."

Had McCrory and others listened to Attorney General Roy Cooper about the possible unconstitutional nature of the Marriage Amendment ~~~ this whole rush to STUPID could have been avoided. Frankly, I am becoming embarrassed that a noted Progressive SOUTHERN state is getting so REGRESSIVE. . .
