Groove at PirateFest with Purple Masquerade: A Prince Tribute Band | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Press Release:

GREENVILLE, N.C.     Kick off the 11th Annual PirateFest Friday, April 7 at the Buccaneer Bash with the band Purple Masquerade. Their music will fill the streets of Uptown with the greatest hit songs of the notorious musician, Prince.

A high-energy band on the move, Purple Masquerade has performed all over the United States and Canada. Each band member wears elaborate costumes as a celebration of Prince's life. The band's lead singer, El Cavitt, performs the role of Prince and has dance moves reminiscent of the late singer, which leaves audience members entertained and in awe.

Prince was an American singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist. He is best remembered for his innovative music, flamboyant stage presence, and wide vocal range. Purple Masquerade encompasses every aspect of his persona when performing on stage.

"We are looking forward to performing for you," said Chanteau Teasley, keyboardist for Purple Masquerade. "Get ya dance shoes on, and let's celebrate the life and music of Prince!"

Purple Masquerade will take the Roses Main Stage, located on the corner of 4th and Evans Street, on Friday night, from 6:00-9:00pm.

Friday night at PirateFest also marks the opening night of the festival's carnival, which will take over all of Five Points Plaza and with features such as a Ferris wheel, giant slide, carousel and rock wall.

On Friday night only, from 5-9pm, attendees can take advantage of an all-you-can-ride wristband at the carnival. Festivalgoers may purchase a $20.00 wristband and ride all night long!

The festival continues Saturday, April 8, 10am-7pm, with food, art and non-profit vendors, live mermaids, a pirate encampment, two grog gardens, carnival, and live music all day long. With the generous support of Minges Bottling Group headliner Rusted Root takes the stage for a free concert at the Town Common at 5:30pm.

PirateFest is brought to you by Minges Bottling Group and organized by Uptown Greenville and Emerge. For a full list of PirateFest 2017 performances and activities, visit www.piratefestnc.com.
