Iran has taken credit for the early Wednesday morning missile attacks against U.S. Forces in Iraq.

On state TV they claimed that the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps fired surface-to-surface missiles at al-Asad airbase in Iraq where U.S. forces are stationed, according to the Wall Street Journal.

A senior U.S. military source told Fox News' Jennifer Griffin: "Under missile attack from Iran. These are either cruise missiles or short-range ballistic missiles. All over the country."

Unconfirmed reports of multiple casualties are being widely reported.

A representative from the Iranian Government tweeted the Iranian flag immediately after the missile attack against U.S. Forces, likely mocking President Trump who tweeted the American flag after U.S. Forces killed Qasem Soleimani.

CBN News reported that President Trump is currently meeting with his National Security Council.

The White House quickly responded, "We are aware of the reports of attacks on U.S. facilities in Iraq. The president has been briefed and is monitoring the situation closely and consulting with his national security team.", according to Fox News.

The attack is certainly a response to the successful USAF strike on Iranian terrorist general Qassem Soleimani.

The U.S. response has not been launched yet, but President Trump is not likely to react to the move with weakness or timidity.

The move by Iran escalates the conflict in the region and is inviting hard retaliation if any U.S. troops are wounded or killed.

The Pentagon released a statement shortly after the attacks. This is a breaking story. Stay with LifeZette for continuing details.
