    Enjoy a lovely afternoon at Goose Creek State Park while learning about one of our elusive back yard inhabitants. What do they eat? How big can they get? Please meet at the park Visitor Center.

    Sunday, September 16, 2012       The Blue Crab       2:00 pm

    Visit Goose Creek State Park and learn about the interesting life cycle of the blue crab. Discover methods used in harvesting blue crabs. Various pots, traps and hopefully live specimens will be on display. Meet at the River Access Picnic Area.

    Sunday, September 23, 2012       Exotic Invasive       2:00 pm

    Expand your knowledge on some of our common invasive and exotic plant species. Find out what to look out for in your yard and what to avoid planting. We will discuss why these plants are not good for our native environment and ways you can get rid of them. Please meet at the park Visitor Center.

    Saturday September 29, 2012       All About Dragonflies       2:00 pm

    Meet at the park Visitor Center to discuss and identify some of Eastern North Carolina’s beautiful dragonflies!! Why are they so important to our environment? How many different colors do dragonflies come in? After studying dragonflies indoors we will take a one to one-and-a-half mile hike in search of some of these beautiful creatures.

RALEIGH: Today, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) Secretary Reid Wilson celebrated Earth Day by visiting Goose Creek State Park in Washington.
Washington, N.C. – The inaugural Rivers East Advanced Manufacturing Academy took place at Pitt Community College on Friday, September 23rd.
Please join us at the park visitor center on Saturday, October 8th from 3-5 pm where we will host a Halloween Wildlife Event.
