A California mother is furious at her son's school because she claims they bribed him with pizza to get him vaccinated and then instructed him not to tell her he did so.

Maribel Duarte, who is vaccinated, stated that her 13-year-old son, a student at the Barack Obama Global Prep Academy in South LA, brought home a vaccine card and told her he got vaccinated in return for a pizza. Duarte claimed, "The lady that gave him the shot and signed the paper told my son, 'Please don't say anything. I don't want to get in trouble.'" NBC News reported.

"It hurt to know he got a shot without my permission, without knowing and without signing any papers for him to get the shot," Duarte added.

An LAUSD spokesperson informed Fox News Digital that the district was "currently unable to confirm that this incident occurred at Barack Obama Global Preparation Academy," adding, "With the Jan. 10, 2022, student vaccination deadline approaching, the District introduced the Safe Schools to Safe Steps Incentive Program throughout Los Angeles Unified Schools. This program offers incentives to families who upload proof of their vaccine, have an approved medical exemption, or have conditional admissions."

In September, the Los Angeles Board of Education approved an order demanding that all children 12 and older in Los Angeles public schools, the nation's second-largest school system, had to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 by January to enter campus.

L.A. schools Interim Supt. Megan K. Reilly told The Los Angeles Times, "We've always approached safety with a multilayered approach: masks, air filtration and coronavirus screening. But we are seeing without a doubt that the vaccines are one of the clearest pathways to protecting individuals from getting severe sickness as well as for mitigating transmission of the COVID virus. It is one of the best preventive measures that we have at our disposal to create a safe environment at schools."

The Times noted, "By Jan. 10, proof of vaccination would have to be 'uploaded and approved in LAUSD's Daily Pass program' except for those students with approved exemptions, the proposal says. The Daily Pass allows a student onto campus and tracks weekly coronavirus test results. Parents and students also use the pass to self-report whether a student has symptoms. ... The resolution also stipulates that younger students would have to receive their first vaccine dose no later than 30 days after their 12th birthday and their second dose no later than eight weeks after that birthday."

"The LAUSD has mandated a Jan. 10 vaccination for all students age 12 and above. Those who don't get it and don't have a legal exemption, will be forced back into virtual, online learning," NBC News noted.

"Data from the Centers for Disease Control shows that just 741 children aged between 0 and 18 died of COVID between the start of the outbreak in March 2020 and December 1 2021," The Daily Mail noted.
