Greensboro Coliseum COVID-19 Testing Site Transitions to New Federal Provider | Eastern NC Now

    RALEIGH - The COVID-19 mass testing site at the Greensboro Coliseum will be staffed by a new federally supplied testing services provider beginning tomorrow, Jan. 22, in response to a recent request from North Carolina state officials to the Federal government.

    "We are grateful to receive this testing support from our Federal partners at a time when medical resources off all types are in extreme demand nationwide," said NCDHHS Secretary Kody H. Kinsley.

    The state submitted a request last month through FEMA to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services for testing support through the Increased Community Access to Testing (ICATT) program.

    That request was granted, and the federally contracted vendor eTrueNorth begins providing testing services tomorrow, replacing Mako Medical, a vendor providing testing under a state contract. Mako Medical's resources will shift to provide additional testing at other North Carolina locations.

    This COVID-19 mass testing center is located in Piedmont Hall at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex at 1921 W. Gate City Blvd. in Greensboro, N.C. Appointments are required for testing and can be made at this website.

    Additionally, community-based events, testing locations and home kit options throughout the state are listed at ncdhhs.gov/GetTested. People should not visit a hospital emergency department solely for a COVID-19 test.

    Vaccines and boosters continue to provide the strongest protection against COVID-19 serious illness, hospitalizations and deaths. Everyone age 5 and older should get a COVID-19 vaccine, and everyone 12 and older should get a booster as soon as they are eligible. Go to MySpot.nc.gov to find a vaccine location.
