Two join ranks of BCCC Ambassadors | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Two Beaufort County Community College students who began their studies at the college in the ninth grade have been added to the ranks of BCCC Ambassadors for the 2013-2014 Academic Year.

    Ronnie James and Jackson Lancaster, both of Washington, have been tapped to serve as Ambassadors, BCCC Foundation Director Judy Jennette announced this week.

    Both began their studies at BCCC as students at the Beaufort County Early College High School and are scheduled to graduate in 2014 from the high school and from the community college with their high school diplomas and associate's degrees from the college.

    They will join Genesis Burgos, Kenyetta Burnette, Patricia Daniels, Lucy Garcia, Jade Leonard, Jessa Robertson, Amy Tinker and Timmy Woolard in representing the college at events during the coming year.

    James is pursuing an associate in arts degree from BCCC. He has been named to the BCCC Deans List and served as the first President of the BCECHS Interact Club, a service club for high school students sponsored by the Washington Noon Rotary Club. James works as a team leader at Scoops Ice Cream in Washington and serves as a firefighter for Clarks Neck Volunteer Fire Department. James plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice and serve in the U.S. Navy after graduating from BCCC. He is the son of Jennifer and Ronnie James.

    Lancaster is also pursuing an associate in arts degree from BCCC. He is a member of Gamma Beta Phi Honor Society and the Student Government Association and served as a Marshall for BCCC's 2013 graduation exercises. He has volunteered with the Special Olympics, Eagle's Wings and at the Second Baptist Church. Lancaster plans to continue his education and pursue a career in psychology after graduating from BCCC. He is the son of Terry and Louann Lancaster.

    Both James and Lancaster will receive a stipend to cover their expenses as Ambassadors and will help the college market its programs and services. To be considered for the Ambassador's program, students must be nominated by a faculty member. Ambassadors are expected to maintain a grade point average of 2.5 or higher throughout their tenure.
