    Sunday, October 6, 2013       The Forest of Goose Creek - Past, Present and Future       2:00 pm

    Discover the natural and cultural history of the forest of Goose Creek State Park. Each month this autumn we will explore a different trail section of the park to learn about the forest of the past and present. What are the possibilities for the future? Attend this one hour program and find out! Meet at the Group Campground Parking Lot.

    Saturday, October 12, 2013       Tar Kiln Hike       2:00 pm

    Join a ranger for a hike through pine flatwoods to see remnants of several tar kilns and learn the history and uses of these large earthen structures. Meet at Ivey Gut Trail Parking Lot, first unpaved parking lot on the left of the main park road. The hike will take about an hour-and-a-half.

    Saturday, October 19, 2013       Fall Leaf Hike       2:00 pm

    Fall is one of the best times of the year to take a walk outside. Come and enjoy a hike through a hardwood stand and take in the wonderful colors that appear as the seasons change. Meet in the Parking Lot at the entrance of the Family Campground.

    Saturday, October 26, 2013       S’mores, Gores and Movies       8:15 pm

    Are you ready for Halloween? Bring your friends and family out to Goose Creek State Park to enjoy a family-fun Halloween movie outside. There will be a large fire with plenty of chocolate, marshmallows and graham crackers to make some ooey gooey delicious s'mores. Please bring your own chairs and/or blankets along with bottled water. The movie will be hosted in Flicker Field across from the Visitor Center.

RALEIGH: Today, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) Secretary Reid Wilson celebrated Earth Day by visiting Goose Creek State Park in Washington.
Washington, N.C. – The inaugural Rivers East Advanced Manufacturing Academy took place at Pitt Community College on Friday, September 23rd.
Please join us at the park visitor center on Saturday, October 8th from 3-5 pm where we will host a Halloween Wildlife Event.
