Roy Cooper has a series of major issues that were his key legislative objectives. First was letting men into womens restrooms and locker rooms. That was a far left position. Then came the Green New Deal, accomplished with HB951, another far left objective. Next came the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, also kowtowing to the far left. All of Cooper's legislative objectives during his term of office were from the far left. Never has he been moderate or conservative. Add to that his position on gun rights which has consistently gotten him an "F" from the NRA. Cooper also consistently pushed for more taxes and spending.

Roy Cooper would fit right in with the DSA with no problem.

My question is - Did the city attorney bother to consult his own client, the city council, about what they wanted or did not want in this contract before he drew it up? If not, I question whether that is ethical behavior on his part and why he should continue in his own position. If he just goes out and does things like this on his own without consulting his client, he does not need to be city attorney.

It is interesting that the biased NC newspapers are not reporting this, but the New York Post is. That speaks volumes on the bias of NC newspapers. For those not familiar with the New York Post, it is one of the oldest newspapers in America and one of the largest in circulation.

Elon Musk has described the AfD as "the only hope for Germany."

While the focus in German politics seems to be on immigration, the CDU under Merkel moved left on a lot of other policies, too, and the AfD is also calling them out on those, as they have continued under Merz. Recently, it has been Merz' huge deficit spending, where AfD is accusing the CDU of bankrupting Germany. For some time, it has been the CDU sticking to Merkel's climate policy, whose high electric rates are hollowing out German industry. AfD wants to abandon the nutty Net zero ideology. With a substantial majority of German welfare spending going to illegal migrants, AfD wants to take a meat ax to that.

The CDU lost its way under Merkel, and that is not surprising when one understands that in her youth, Merkel was the chief of ideology for the youth wing of the East German Communist Party. Merz claimed he was going to change that, but by forming a coalition with the Social Democrats instead of the AfD, he locked his party into Merkel's destructive policies because the Social Democrats will not let him move to the right at all.

When you read how that lone black male juror was bullied by liberal white women in that jury room, it makes you wonder whether the jury system, at least in places like Massachusetts, is now broken. Several of those feminist jurors have admitted they were seeking to "empower women" but how? By murdering their kids. The jury battled on ideology, not the facts and law of the case. It is not supposed to work that way.

Taxes and spending are far away the most important issue in our county commission race. We need to end the spendthrift tax-and-spend coalition now running our county commission. As we look at candidates, we need to look at 3 things: 1) how strong are their state positions on spending and taxes, 2) what is their past record on taxes and spending, and 3) do they have a consistent position on taxes and spending other than in public office?

As to their campaign positions, both Stan Deatherage and Ashley Woolard have taken strong positions against excessive spending and high taxes. John Edwards says some of the right things but will not make a solid commitment. Ed Booth will not make a commitment on taxes at all.

On actual records in office, Stan Deatherage has voted against every tax increase offered and for every tax cut offered. Ed Booth is the opposite, and has voted against every tax cut offered and for every tax increase offered. The other two have not been in office to have a record.

Outside of public office, Stan Deatherage, Ashley Woolard, and Ed Booth have been involved in community of political activity for years. All of them have been consistent in their positions on tax and spending issues in that context - Deatheage and Woolard for less spending and lower taxes, and Booth for more spending and higher taxes.

Edarerds just popped up at filing time. Nobody had ever heard of him as a public figure before. This was much like Frankie waters and Randy Walker, who talked a good game to a point but quickly turned into tax and spend politicians. He seems to be more of the same.

When it comes to who we can trust on taxes and spending, I would rank them in this order:
1) Stan Deatherage - strong commitment, strong record, consistent position over time
2) Ashley Woolard - strong commitement, consistent position over time, but no record inoffice
3) John Eadwards - weak commitment, no longtime position, no record in office
4) Ed Booth - no commitment, record and longtime position on the wrong side

The bad thing is, that we need to get two of these elected to get a pro-taxpayer majority on the commission, but with limited voting, we only have one vote.

By tying our electric and water system operations into Tyler Tech's national network, Washington puts a bullseye on our back for hackers from adversarial countries. They can take down a whole lot more by attacking there than attacking small systems piecemeal. This is an incredibly stupid idea. Tyler Tech is probably also a target due to their now running court filing systems in multiple states including our own. China and Russia both have armies of hackers and bot farms for assymetric warfare attacks on adversaries, and a standoff with one of them could lead to attacks on our utilities or courts or other things. When those things are concentrated in one place, it makes them a very attractive target for such attacks.

Iran's hackers are less sophisticated than those of China or Russia, but they have taken down a British electric plant recently and are prime suspects in attacks on some utilities here in the US. freebeacon.com

If the number of constant glitches in Tyler Tech's court filing system is any indicator, Washington utility customers will not be well served by them.

Something just announced today underlines the hacking danger of tying our electric and water systems into a computerized network of a company that runs them for lots of other local utilities. The US DOJ just announced that the Communist Chinese had hacked into the computer systems of a number of federal agencies including theirs. justthenews.com

As a stand alone small utility, especially with traditional mechanical metering, we are extremely low on the hacking target list of any malevolent foreign adversary. It is to our benefit to stay in that posture to avoid hacking danger. Any use of computers creates some hacking danger, but as we are it is minimal.

Once we tie ourselves to a network that involves a company handling a computerized system handling many local utilities, we have tied ourselves to what would be a major hacking opportunity near the top of the target list for a foreign adversary. That is just boneheaded. Tyler Tech becomes a hacking target that can be an avenue to sow mischief across many local utility systems.

Hackers have in the last few days shut down electricity in a part of the UK, with the hackers likely from Iran. Several incidents with US utilities also appear to have a hacking connection.

We are a whole lot safer from a hacking danger keeping our utilities like they are instead of tying them into a network likely to be a major hacker target for foreign adversaries.

If it ain't broke, don't fix it!. This is more wasteful spending by a spendthrift city council, and an invasion of privacy on top of that. When we already have working electric meters why replace them? There are lots of genuine deficiencies in our electric system that need fixing. Why waste money on "Big Brother" Orwellian electric meters?

Perrault and Davis were elected to get a handle on out of control taxes and spending. I do not see anyone working on that front, and it is a disappointment. Tyree and Horton are spendthrifts who have put a huge burden on taxpayers, but the other two need to get their asses in gear and try to do something. Skip the other stuff. Lets get our overspending cut and our taxes more reasonable.

Most of us also learned in school that it is the Greenhouse Effect that keeps the Earth warm enough to sustain life. The most important greenhouse gas is water vapor which accounts for over 90% of the Greenhouse Effect. C)2 is a very minor greenhouse gas.

Most of ;us also learned in school that the cycle of life is not a closed system. CO2 is emitting by animals, volcanoes, rotting vegetation, and many other natural souces. Plants take in that C)2 in photosynthesis and give off oxygen as part of the process. Burning various fuels is a fairly minor course of CO2.

The biggest source of CO2, however, are the oceans. When the climate cools, they absorb CO2 and when the climate warms, they release CO2. Studies of CO2 in the atmosphere reveal that it is a hundred or so years AFTER a climate cycle starts that CO2 in the atmosphere either increases or decreases which shows that more CO2 is a RESULT of a warming climate, not a cause of it.
