Stan, is Campbell guy supposed to be just more humor like the Babylon Bee? Or does he take all this loony left mumbo jumbo he preaches seriously? Illegal aliens broke out laws to sneak into our country and our immigration laws need to be enforced. There is a proper process to immigrate legally. Those who feel so entitled that they think the laws do not apply to them need to be apprehended and the law enforced. If they are smart, they will self deport and then have an opportunity to apply to come legally, if they qualify. A country without immigration laws is not a country.

For anyone who stands with Berger in ANY of his challenges to House conservatives, I have one thing to say - when you lie down with dogs, you get fleas. Berger has pushed leftwing policy in Raleigh as hard as Roy Cooper has, and indeed they were often pushing the same leftwing agenda. The only place they got pushback was in the House, which sometimes stopped Berger and sometimes he overcame their opposition. They have gotten better at stopping Berger's nonsense in the House like with Berger's casinos and Berger trying to do a solid for the radical environmentalists by putting our commercial fishermen out of business.
www.beaufortcountynow.com

If Berger takes any scalps among the 6, so far, conservatives in the House he is trying to replace with his yes men, then it will intimidate others in the House from standing up to him. Anyone who sides with Berger is working ABAINST conservatives. Berger is the worst establishment power bully in the state. He already has almost all of the Senate Republicans completely intimidated and now he is trying to push the same poison in the House. That simply must be stopped or conservatives will be totally screwed in Raleigh. Local politics are downright petty compared to the huge impact these Berger challenges can have in Raleigh.

Berger is having a serious primary challenge himself from a conservative and may get taken down, hopefully, but that does not make his challenge to this group of House conservative leaders any less dangerous. Berger has cleared out any meaningful conservative voices in the Senate, and the departure of stalwart conservative Bobby Hanig to run for Congress, they will all be gone. If Berger goes down in the primary, it will be a Berger 2.0 that takes his place, playing the same game with the Democrats and special interests. Any of Berger's lieutenants would be as bad as Berger and we do not need opposition to them in the House to be intimidated.

Incidentally, liberal Berger lap dog Jimmy Dixon has also recruited a Berger-friendly candidate for Hanig's state senate seat to run against conservative retired judge Jerry Tillet in the primary. There may also be a second conservative in that primary which would split the conservative vote and let Berger's poodle win the primary. The Berger machine MUST be stopped. It is as evil as evil as Thom Tillis and has a lot more power.

The most rotten politician one could send to Raleigh would be a Berger Boy.

The Phil Berger machine, the sellout uber-RINOs of the General Assembly are who is out for Kidwell because he has been a key to blocking some of Berger's liberal crap in the House. The Berger machine is out to replace at least 6 conservatives in the House who have stood up to Berger, and Kidwell is one of them. Working hand in glove with him is liberal "Republican" House member Jimmy Dixon, who is notorious for blocking key pro-gun legislation. The Berger machine has targeted all of the leaders of the House Freedom Caucus to try to decapitate conservatives in the House. Kidwell, as chairman of the Freedom Caucus is at the top of their target list. Kidwell and the Freedom Caucus have been the key people in blocking Berger's casino bill and Berger's attempt to pander to radical environmentalists to put our commercial fishermen out of business. Berger wants yes-men and patsies in their place who will go along with his liberal schemes.

Berger is a complete traitor who was the key player in getting the top legislative priorities of Roy Cooper through the legislature. That started with repealing HB2 so that biological men could again go in Womens restrooms and locker rooms, and moved on to the Obamacare Medicaid expansion and the Green New Deal.

Berger, and his little lap poodle Dixon, are Undocumented Democrats, and their support of anyone SHOULD be the kiss of death for conservatives have anything to do with that candidate.

Stan, what they are is propagandists, not journalists, modern practitioners of the dark arts of Josef Goebbels. The BBC has been bent for years, biased against the UK's own Conservative Party. The British people seem to know it, as the most watched news programing in the UK is now GB News, which has a conservative perspective.

IT is good however to see the CEO and news director of the BBC have to resign over this doctoring of the news.

Befuddled, here is a better one from Lord Acton: "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." When elected officials allow themselves to be used as window dressing and rubberstamps for administrators, it is creating absolute power in the administrators, whether at federal, state, or local level.

Kidwell is an important conservative leader in the NC House, regardless of what you think of his positions regarding the local party leadership. Replacing him with a non-conservative like Austin Garrison would make no sense at all.

"Morning Joe" is a usual woke voice for the left, but he seems to have some common sense on rejecting those who promote political violence. www.dailymail.co.uk

In that regime, it is hard to decide which was more clueless - Biden or Harris. Neither one was on top of things. The other question is, who actually ran things, like deciding what the autopen was used on? It clearly was not either Biden or Harris.

This story is getting national play because of the internet. The MSM propaganda media has been doing their best to try to sweep it under the rug because it is damaging to their narrative. They are very sick puppies in trying to ignore it. It is hitting European news outlets that are not tied to the globalists. One German politician even responded with the statement that "white lives matter".

This Michael dude is totally clueless about tax rates after a revaluation. To keep taxes the same, OF COURSE the rate would go down. The state calculates a "revenue neutral" rate that would generate the same amount of taxes. If a local government adopts a rate higher than the revenue neutral rate, it is a tax INCREASE even though the rate is still less than the previous year. To determine if there is a tax increase or not, the point of reference after a revaluation is NOT the previous year's rate but the revenue neutral rate.

The county taxed this year at the revenue netural rate. The city of Washington taxed 28% OVER the revenue neutral rate. That is a 28% tax INCREASE and it is outrageous.

Maybe this lack of knowlege by Michael indicates that there needs to be more voter / taxpayer education on this subject.

The dollar today is worth about what ten cents were 50 or 60 years ago. Gold, on the other hand is worth almost 100 times what it was 50 or 60 years ago. Silver is worth almost 40 times more. Traditionally, there are three "monetary metals" that have a foreign exchange cross with all currencies in the ForEx market - gold, silver, and platinum. Gold and silver have been used for circulating currencies from ancient times until very recent. Platinum has also been used, but less so, for circulating currency. The only other metal that is sometimes called a monetary metal is palladium, although it has never been used as a circulating currency.

National central banks hold only one metal as reserves, and that is gold, although silver is often held for stability by individuals around the world and one central bank, Russia, has recently been stockpiling it, too. In the last few years, central banks around the world have been increasing their holdings of gold and gradually dumping dollars and euros.

Fiat currencies like the dollar have depreciated at diffent rates. Sixty years ago, The British pound was worth $2.80 in US currency and the Swiss franc 23 cents. Now the pound and franc are worth slightly more than one dollar each. The British pound has depreciated faster than the dollar, while the Swiss franc has depreciated much more slowly, although all of them have depreciated against gold and silver.

Bullion coins of specific weights of gold and silver are being issued by an increasing number of national mints around the world, including the US wint. There is also a curious new currency issued by several states called the Goldback, with one goldback worth 2/1000 of an ounce of gold. Half of that amount is actually incorporated into the banknotes themselves in the form of 24 carat gold leaf. State governments currently issuing goldbacks include New Hampshire, Nevada, Utah, Wyoming, South Dakota, and Florida. They are designed to be spent as money in establishments which accept them. They come in denominations of from half goldbacks to 100 goldbacks.

Personally, I prefer the actual bullion but the goldback is an interesting idea, especially if more states adopt it.

Then who are you talking about when you bring up "Tusk"???? Donald Tusk is the only person by that last name I am aware of in either US or world politics.

Globalism is the totalitarian threat in the 21st century just as Naziism and Communism were in the last century. Mass migration is one of the things they are pushing to try to bring down national governments.

Donald Tusk, the prime minister of Poland (at least for now, as his government seems to be unraveling over illegal immigration) is definitely a globalist, and therefore an elitist. I am not familiar with Mrump. Oh, and when the Tusk government goes, the polls show that nationalists and ultra-nationalists will have a majority and Poland will decisively reject globalism.

Why is crime endemic among illegal aliens but very rare among legal immigrants? Simple. Those who have no regard for obeying our immigration laws also have no regard for obeying our criminal laws either. Those who are careful to obey our immigration laws are also careful to obey our criminal laws.

It is the legal immigrants that America needs, NOT those illegal aliens who invade our borders.

Commented on Stating the Obvious

What poppycock. America is NOT the world's welfare state and should not try to be. Did this post get misdirected from the "Daily Worker"? Lee does not seem to grasp that "immigrant" is clearly defined in federal law as only applying to those who apply properly to come to America, are vetted and approved before they arrive. The term does NOT apply to those who arrogantly take the law into their own hands and sneak into the country. The correct definition of those in federal law is "ILLEGAL ALIEN". These lawbreakers need to be rounded up and send home. If we get more immigrants, there is a long waiting list of those honest and honorable applicants who are trying to do it the right way. It is immoral to let the linejumpers in ahead of them. The linejumpers need a quick deportation.

Oh, and "asylum" is mostly a fraud. People claim it when they know they are not entitled to it to get a foot in the door. That fraud needs to be stopped.

The Pamlico County schools, as well as a charter school there, are openly welcoming Snowden students to go there, and of course that means their state education dollars will follow those students out of the Beaufort County schools. Our school board has just incentivized that exodus. One wonders what they are using for brains.

The real danger would come, though, if this kick in the face leads to a campaign in Richland Township to move the county line so they can join Pamlico County, talking a huge chunk of Beaufort County's tax base with them. Weak school board members blindly following a liberal superintendent can have profound negative consequences for our county.

The Senate Majority Leader has the power to do that at any time. In fact, in 2001, former Senate Majority Leader Trent Lott did fire the then Senate Parliamentarian. The parliamentarian could also have been overruled, which has also happened before. John Thune is spineless.

There is no reason at all that real Republicans should have tolerated a Harry Reid holdover hack in this powerful position. Mitch McConnell was never a real Republican. He was too compromised by both the Democrats and the Red Chinese. No wonder he sat still for this travesty. John Thune was a McConnell protege, but many thought he would be better. Thune has just proven that is just not so. This Reid hack needs to go and then Thune needs to go.

Illegal alien freeloaders are sucking welfare dry in Europe as well. In Germany, for example, 63% of all welfare paid out now goes to illegal aliens. Sweden is paying illegal aliens over 10,000 dollars to go home since Swedish taxpayers save a heck of a lot more than that on welfare.

Stan, when Martin County Schools closed the community public school in Bear Grass, that is exactly what was done with the building. It is now a thriving charter school, and the Bear Grass community continues to have a local school. Charter schools and private schools tend to provide better education at a lower cost per student than public schools, so that is beneficial in a lot of ways. I wonder if anyone in Aurora would pick up the ball and run with it? That might be an option for John Cotton Tayloe as well.

"Pragmatist"???? NO< Tillis is a liberal, an Undocumented Democrat. He has sold us out on a long list of major issues from gun control to the Green New Deal, to homosexual marriage to deficit spending to illegal immigration to Obamacare Medicaid expansion to allowing men into womens restrooms and lockerrooms, and the list could go on. Recent polls have had his favorability with voters under 30%. Tillis was unelectable and would have hurt the entire GOP ticket in North Carolina. Last year's Republican state convention passed a resolution of censure on Tillis by a landslide for deviating from the Republican platform on a very wide range of issues. Good riddance!

Berger was prostituting for the special interests connected to communist China in trying to destroy our local shrimp harvesting industry. They are the major competitor of North Carolina shrimpers. The "County Compass" just identified a major importer of frozen Chinese shrimp that is massively expanding their Norfolk, VA importation facilities focused on shrimp. This is who expects to get the shrimp business when they shut down our local shrimpers. They likely provided the dirty political payola to the thoroughly corrupp Phil Berger to push this dirty political attack on North Carolina commercial fishermen.

Real Republicans need to take this phony Phil Berger, an Undocumented Democrat, out in the primary. Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page is challenging him and actually leading by double digits over Berger in the polls.

Any time government takes something that has always been paid for out of tax revenue, as they did with trash pickup and storm water, and suddenly call it a fee, that is nothing but a dishonest shell game so they can lie that they did not raise taxes. We have a very very dishonest city government and it has been that way for too long. They will not play straight with the citizens and taxpayers.
Commented: Friday, June 27th, 2025 @ 10:07 am By: John Steed
BCCitizen, the fees you list are minor and rarely, if ever, paid by city taxpayers. The ones that cover things that used to be covered by taxes, like storm water and trash, on the other hand are paid every month by virtually everyone, and they add up.

Renters may think they are home free because they do not directly pay property taxes on the houses they live in, but they do pay that tax directly every year on the cars they drive. Also, they will pay the property tax on their house indirectly when their landlord has to go up on their rent to cover his additional costs for those taxes. This hits everyone, one way or another.
Commented: Thursday, June 26th, 2025 @ 3:29 pm By: John Steed
Fees are just another word for taxes by the back door. Many things that used to be paid for by taxes in Washington have been shifted to "fees" like trash pick up and storm water drainage. Calling those "fees" when they used to be covered by taxes is just dishonest. It is pulling the wool over citizens eyes. If it looks like a tax, walks like a tax, quacks like a tax, it is a tax no matter what name you try to put on it.

Then there is the overcharging for electricity that is then shifting into the general fund. That is just another tax by the back door

Transparency means not shifting tax supported city activities to "fees" and it means not gouging on electric rates for a backdoor tax. Transparency also means giving meaningful notice of the budget and the taxes involved, which the Sadler regime did NOT do.
