The latest inflation numbers show that inflation is down at its lowest for several years, quite a change from the galloping inflation of the Biden era. Good job, President Trump.

These global warmists or climate alarmists have been parasites on American consumers. Their expensive and unreliable "green eneregy" - wind and solar - is driving up our electric bills. RINOs like Phil Berger, Thom Tillis, and Tim Moore have been as guilty as the Democrats on that, and Michael Whatley will be just as bad. We need to nominate Don Brown for US Senate.

One would think that any elected body would take into account the opinions of those who elect them. In the case of the school board, that would be the parents and the taxpayers. Those board members who voted to respect and consider those opinions, School Board members Rader, Hickman, Shreve, and Davis should be applauded - and re-elected. That is the type of board members we need. The others? Not so much!

The climate industrial complex is pushing this fiasco. Not only do unreliable wind and solar electricity create a big risk of blackouts, but they also drive up the electric bills of consumers. They slipped some money to pay=to-play political boss Phil Berger to impose this crap on our state. Berger is going to make North Carolina like Germany, where obsession with wind and solar has made electric rates three times what we have been paying.

Glad to see this. There are some of these similar cases pending here in NC. It will hopefully put a stop to evil doctors who profiteer from genital mutilation of children.

The is another issue on these retired teachers recruited to run for school board by Carolyn Walker. Are they really Republicans? I am not sure which the Bath candidate is, but in Washington it is clearly Monica Davis.

I looked Monica Davis' voting history up on the Board of Elections website. She first registered to vote in Beaufort County in 1990 as a Democrat and then for years regularly voted in Democrat primaries. The first year Davis voted in a Republican primary was 2024. The question is - why has this longtime Democrat suddenly become a Republican, at least on paper?

I then looked up incumbent Steven Rader. He first registered in Beaufort County in 1978 as a Republican, and has consistently voted in Republican primaries ever since.

Carolyn Walker and her husband, Randy, were both longtime Democrats themselves before changing to Republican a few years ago. In spite of being registered Republican, both of them, in the offices in which they serve, too often take positions on issues one would expect of a Democrat, not a Republican. Are these teachers Mrs. Walker recruited going to be just more of the same?

Politicians who let the hired help - the county managers, city managers, school superintendents, etc. - run government should be ashamed of themselves. We need hands on elected officials who do not delegate their authority to bureaucrats. These lazy politicians need to be replaced.

The record is clear that Kidwell is one of the very strongest voices against high taxes and big spending in the legislature. He has the highest conservative rating ever achieved in the General Assembly on the Civitas legislative ratings. Why in the world would we want to give up that sort of record for someone who cannot even articulate what his political views are, or maybe just does not want to tell us? Or maybe he is waiting for a consultant to tell him what he needs to say to try to get elected? When Kidwell first ran, he articulated a comprehensive agenda of conservative policy, and he has stuck to it. When I vote, I look at policy positions and policy records. Kidwell's is excellent. Armstrong's is almost non-existent.

It is not a matter of who you like or dislike on a personal basis, but who will pursue conservative policies and be effective in achieving them. Kidwell has an excellent record on both counts.

Auditor, one symptom of what raises suspicions has been the city's refusal under the previous regime to respond to citizen Public Records Act requests, judging they would not spend the money on a lawyer to force an answer. That is a huge red flag of something seriously amiss. Then there have been things like the council voting to buy a substandard lot from a sitting council member at an inflated price with the councilman owning the property participating illegally in the vote. The $140,000 payoff to the outgoing city manager was another travesty that likely violated the law in more than one respect.
Commented: Friday, January 9th, 2026 @ 6:34 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
Auditor, there has been lots of funny business going on by the defeated regime, and there is little doubt the records left behind are a mess. It would not be surprising if there was a lot of shredding going on during their way out. The remnants of the outgoing regime resisted getting qualified people in to look into their mess, but there is now a very highly qualified person in interim city manager Bobby Roberson to start picking up the pieces. Bobby has a very thorough understanding of local government. One thing that needs to be looked into and clawed back is the corrupt golden parachute given to the old city manager.

Kidwell has been rock solid on taxing and spending issues. He has the highest conservative rating in the entire legislature. During Covid, he was the most active member of the legislature, by far, fighting for medical freedom. Local internal party fights mean at lot less than standing for principles in Raleigh when all is said and done. I regret he has gotten into some personality conflicts locally but it is principle and policy that really matter.

Armstrong's press release gives no clue about any philosophical compass. He mouths the word "conservative" but even liberals sometimes do that. Most of what he says is boilerplate that even a Democrat could put in a press release. The only real issue he mentions is 2nd amendment, but how much credibiliy does that have when he surrounds himself with people who have worked against gun rights? He must have thought he had to mention that since Kidwell is well known as the biggest champion of gun rights in the legislature. Action speaks louder than words, and the company Armstrong keeps on that issue does, too.

The climate cult is a big fraud. Every one of their stark warnings that has passed the date it was supposed to happen has failed to happen, and there have been dozens of them. Only a fool would believe these serial liars.

Nick, thank you for the report and for all your and your team's hard work. I guess bitter ambushes from the losers is to be expected.

What the former ruling clique did to stonewall that audit information raises a lot of red flags. The city manager was responsible for seeing that this information was properly transmitted but he failed to do that. Why? Is there something stinky he was covering up? Does it have anything to do with why he beat a hasty retreat and resigned after his cronies were ousted from power? Did that excessive and grossly improper payoff to him when he left have anything to do with info he might know on the former ruling clique?

I hope that anything criminal that may be found will be prosecuted instead of swept under the rug. Our taxpayers are still reeling from what the losers did to out city and our taxes.

Finally, great choice on Roberson!

Interesting! So Phil Berger is now trying to manipulate TWO local races against people on his enemies list. He recruited Asa Buck to try to defeat Bobby Hanig in our congressional race and he sent Jimmy Dixon down here to recruit Darren Armstrong to try to defeat Keith Kidwell in the state house race. It is time to send Berger AND the Berger Boys packing. Berger is pushing a state budget that would raise our taxes. Hanig and Kidwell have been staunch opponents of higher taxes and of Berger's tax increase budget.

There is another hero to Shrimpgate who will be on our primary ballot in March, Bobby Hanig, who is running for Congress in the GOP primary. Senator Hanig was the first conservative to see what Berger was up to on putting the shrimpers out of business. He responded by alerting the fishing community that they were under attack and also alerted the House Freedom Caucus to be ready to join the battle in the state House. Hanig had been vice chairman of the House Freedom Caucus before moving up to the Senate. Hanig getting the opposition to this scheme warned, both among the commercial fishermen and among House conservatives, gave them the precious time to get organized and defeat it.

Bobby Hanig has been one of the handful of conservatives willing to stand up to RINO Berger in the Senate. Berger has tired to force Hanig to vote liberal a number of times, always without success. When Berger did a deal with the special interests on passing the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, Hanig was overtly threatened with severe repercussions if he refused to follow orders. Hanig's constituents opposed Obamacare Medicaid expansion and he had campaigned against it when he ran. He stuck to his guns and refused to knuckle under to Berger.

Bobby Hanig has the principle and the backbone that we need in Congress.

The NC shrimp industry is not the only one Kidwell helped save from the special interest vultures in the legislature like Phil Berger.

Kidwell also played a major role in saving the raw milk industry from Duplin County RINO Jimmy Dixon's bill that would have shut it down. Many health conscience people prefer raw milk over the pasteurized variety and we have farmers around the state that provide it to them. Dixon's legislation would have put these farmers out of business and ruined them in short order. Although a farmer himself, Dixon had no qualms about throwing fellow farmers under the bus to please a special interest with lots of dollars to distribute.

Kidwell and the Freedom Caucus went to work and organized the votes to stop Dixon's attempt to shut down our raw milk farmers. Dixon had to withdraw the bill and he was in such a snit that his special interest favor got undone, that he did not even pursue the rest of the bill.

The same Jimmy Dixon was the front man for Phil Berger in recruiting challengers to the Freedom Caucus leadership including Kidwell. Dixon bragged about recruiting Darren Armstrong and appeared for Armstrong's fundraiser. Dixon's working with Berger against House conservatives probably has a lot to do with Dixon's own butthurt from the Freedom Caucus shooting down Dixon's own attempt to do a favor for special interests while going along with the special interest's attempt to put some of his fellow farmers out of business. Dixon is the worst sort of scoundrel. He and his ilk do not belong in public office.

Attacks on freedom of speech are becoming endemic in many parts of the world. They are attacks on democracy itself. Without free speech, it is not possible to have democracy. It is frightening to see some of this same stuff being quietly placed in our own institutions.

One wonders if Don Davis was just trying to pander to having to run in a more conservative district, or whether his vote reflects that homosexuality and transgenderism are very unpopular in the black community. Buttigieg polls very poorly among black Democrats for that reason. Indeed one recent poll even found that Buttigieg was less popular among black Democrats voters than a leader of the KKK.

So, a local education bureaucrat in Craven County gets paid more than the NC Governor, a US Senator, and NC Council of State members including the STATE Superintendent of Public Instruction? That is both insane and obscene. It is an absolute taxpayer ripoff.

ONe wonders what minefields lie in city of Washington's budget and spending. The former city manager did not get his records in on time to do an on time audit. Who knows what will be found when the documents finally do get pulled together. No wonder he beat a hasty retreat in resigning. The city needs to claw back the outrageous sum of money he was paid in that sweetheart deal on his resignation.

In the notoriously factionalized Beaufort County Republican Party, it stood out that the executive committee voted unanimously to nominate Steve Rader when a vacancy occurred in this district. Members of both factions stood together to support him for the school board vacancy, and that was in spite of Carolyn Walker and Randy walker coming up with a rival candidate for the seat. Steve has a reputation in the party that goes back decades for working with everyone in the party, and it showed in the party's united support for him.

Climate alarmists make all sorts of dire predictions about calamities but none of them come true. There have been dozens of their predictions that have already passed the time they were supposed to happen, but NONE of them ever have. None of them have even come slightly close. They have all been duds. Climate alarmism is the biggest doomsday cult in human history. They are Chicken Little on steroids.

Electric rates are rising from RINOs, too like Thom Tillis and Phil Berger. Berger gave us NC's Green New Deal, and Tillis has also always been in the hip pocket of the climate industrial complex, resisting Trump's effort to rein in expensive and unreliable "green energy". Tillis owns investments in "green energy" and was looking out for himself instead of his constituents. Berger is an all-round whore for all sorts of special interests and the climate industrial complex is just one of those.

I hope the Trump administration imposes a fine TWICE as large on the European Union for its totalitarian garbage. The EU is so anti-freedom, it ought to just change its name to the Fourth Reich or the EUSSR because under the globalists it reeks of aspects of Hitler's Germany and Soviet Russia.

In North Carolina the leaders of the climate cult politically have been Roy Cooper and Phil Berger. Both need to be defeated. Also playing a big role is woke utility monopoly Duke Energy. Berger's total rewrite of HB951 is the EU Green Deal on steroids imposed on NC electric ratepayers. Berger is the enemy of NC electric ratepayers.

Good for the Swiss! North Carolinians are being reamed out on this climate scam thanks to Phil Berger and his NC Green New Deal in another way. Commented on ICE Capades

What we should be outraged at, Tom Campbell, is the treasonous Biden regime allowing illegal aliens to flood our country by not enforcing our immigration laws. All of those in that corrupt administration who were responsible for not enforcing our immigration laws should be jailed. Now, we need to demand that our scofflaw state officials join in the task of getting these invaders out of our country and back where they belong. And it would be nice to put useful idiots like Comrade Campbell on the plane with them.

Bureaucrats should NEVER NEVER NEVER have contracts like this that provide for "buyouts". That includes county managers, city managers, school superintendents, etc. The taxpayer should NEVER be at the mercy of a bureaucrat this way. Employment at will is the standard in the business world, and it should be in the bureaucratic world as well. Bureaucrats should NEVER be "entitled" to a job. If they are not performing, they need to go, just like in the private sector. For state bureaucrats, there are no "buyouts" like this so why should there be for local bureaucrats???? SUE THEM AND GET THE TAXPAYERS MONEY BACK< and that includes suing all of the irresponsible city council members who voted for this banditry.

How evil Phil Berger is can be shown by what he did to Beaufort County to pass his Green New Deal (HB951). The Green New Deal was opposite the NC Republican platform on energy but it was the top legislative goal at the time of liberal Democrat Governor Roy Cooper, and Berger was the key figure in passing it. The NC Green New Deal will jack up power bills for us all. No Beaufort County conservative should EVER consider voting for anyone connected to ultra-RINO Phil Berger.

The first thing Berger had to do to grease the skids for his Green New Deal was to get rid of its most vocal opponent in the Senate. That was Senator Bill Cook (R-Beaufort), a former utility executive who thoroughly understood all the downsides of "green energy". Berger accomplished that by gerrymandering Cook out of his senate seat. At his direction, Beaufort County was placed in a heavily Democrat and majority black state senate district that Cook or any Republican could not have won, forcing Cook to retire, getting him out of the way for Berger to ram through the Green New Deal.

Berger did not just screw over Cook in that gerrymander. He screwed over all Beaufort County Republicans by putting us in a senate district where we had no meaningful representation. Worst of all, he did it to do a favor for a Democrat governor and a leftwing monopoly special interest that simultaneously screwed consumers.

Berger had a bill from the House (HB951) rewritten at the last minute by a Senate Committee to track the European Union's "Green Deal" but with even more radical provisions. That bill was then slammed onto the Senate floor for a vote with no chance for consumers to organize against it. It was extreme power politics at its worst and showed a total distain for NC citizens.

President Trump did a good day's work in getting us OUT of this UN climate charade mousetrap. No United States federal government officials were sent to this leftie talkathon, but I am sure the Peoples Republic of California probably sent a few.

It is telling that Red China funds the climate CO2 cult groups in the US and Europe, but for their own energy, they are building hundreds of new coal power plants, then they export to us solar panels and wind turbine components, laughing all the way to the bank. Democrats are such fools to play along or perhaps they are on the take.

IT is good to see conservatives uniting against the climate hoax in Europe. We have too many establishment Republicans like Thom Tillis, Phil Berger, Michael Whatley, and Tim Moore who align too often with the green left.
Commented: Friday, November 14th, 2025 @ 8:30 am By: Concerned Taxpayer
IT is an issue of supply and demand. Letting in a flood of illegal aliens means they have to have somewhere to live. The housing supply is the same, but there is more demand, so rents go up. That has also happened with hotels in places like New York City where illegal aliens have been placed in hotels, and the room rates have soared in other hotels as a result. Europe has seen the same dynamics on housing costs from the swarms of illegal aliens.

Also, I would hardly call a candidate who aligns with the Forest woman a "conservative". The Forest woman is another of those yankee carpetbaggers.
