So Cliff Williams wants to take the lemons given him and Aurora by a rotten school board and make lemonaide out of them by opening a charter school. GOOD FOR HIM. I hope he succeeds in that effort. Beaufort County Schools would then be the loser in their plot against Aurora, because all that state education money would flow to the charter school instead of Beaufort County Schools.

Lets make it a little easier for Terry. Was THIS move to close Snowden ever on the school board's public agenda prior to the motion to start the process to close it? No, I didn't think so. Has it ever been on the school board's public agenda since the 2022 school board election? I didn't think so there either. IF I am wrong, please cite the meeting dates so that can be confirmed by the meeting minutes.

Cheeseman is building his Washington mega-school with excess capacity. One wonders what his game plan is, and Bath elementary may well be on his target list. I wish we had fewer useful idiots on our school board. Blindly following the bureaucracy makes a really poor excuse for an elected official.

There are too many relationships in the Snowden Affair and in commissioner and school board matters that just don't pass the small test. One is the two husband and wife pairs on the commission and school board. Insider dealing? Do you think? Then there is two school board members having daughters who are principals or vice principals, who are at Chesseman's mercy. Conflict of interest? Do you think?

Befuddled, you have a very good point. That boondoggle over the land ownership clearly illustrates the poor management we have in our county schools, and that poor management was just rewarded, from what I'm told, by a big raise and an extension of his contract. I also wonder where the School Board attorney was in all this. Since he he way off in Durham, I suspect they didn't even bother to bring him in on it. Was Cheeseman playing both attorney and real estate appraiser in this farce, neither of which he is qualified or licensed for?

Our school system reminds me of that scene toward the end of the Wizard of Oz, only this time when the dog Toto rips away the curtain, it is Cheeseman in the booth operating the controls of the great and powerful school board.

One has to look at waste or incompetence or unnecessary spending elsewhere in our school system. Without that, the money would have been there for Snowden. One example I heard at a public hearing was the half million dollar blunder by the school central office on the 4 acres of land they did not own on their consolidated mega-school that they had to make up. Another is that they are providing school lunches during the summer to students free WHEN THE SCHOOLS ARE NOT HOLDING CLASSES. This charity or giveaway program should not be paid for by our taxpayers. They fund waste and incompetence like this but say they cannot fund Snowden? Hogwash!

This law will also help reduce housing costs for American citizens. As usual, the lefties run to the radical judges to try to screw things up.

Typical Tillis - trying to protect the giveaway welfare programs while screwing the taxpayers. That is one of the big reasons that so many of us are happy that Tillis will be GONE.

What swampy Republican senators did or allowed to happen to the Big Beautiful Bill in the Senate is disgusting, and we need to replace all of them we can in the primaries, because we also need to replace the new McConnell, John Thune. It was the swampy Republicans themselves who were responsible for some ot the watered down items like cutting only half of Biden's spendthrift Green New Deal instead of all of it, like the House did. On other things like letting illegal aliens still get Medicaid, it was a matter of Thune refusing to overrule the Democrat Senate Parliamentarian who had been hired by Harry Reid. Why in the heck did we even have a Harry Reid holdover sitting in that position to screw with this bill? Too many "Republican" senators are really Democrats in Drag. Getting rid of that sellout Tillis is a good start, and so will be taking down Cornyn, Cassidy, and Graham, but there are more that need their walking papers. That idiot James Lankford who tried to do Biden's bidding on open borders comes up agains in 2028. He badly needs to go. All of these sellouts helped Obama and Biden get some of their key legislation through.

How much does Beaufort County Schools lose in state funding for every child they run off to charter schools, private schools, or schools in another county? I suspect those numbers can add up quickly. I suspect that there will be a racial / class disparity from this unwise action by the school board. The little children suffering the child abuse of these long bus rides every morning and evening will be the poor black children, while most of the rest of the students from Snowden head to charter or public school in Pamlico County. The main difference will be which families can arrange their own transportation to schools in Pamlico County.

This is the best political news I have heard in a long time. No more Thom Tillis! Tillis has been a major promoter of the wind and solar boondoggle for decades.
Commented: Monday, June 30th, 2025 @ 5:13 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
So, Thom Tillis wants to accept a $4 Trillion tax increase on the American people so he can preserve giving Medicaid to illegal aliens???? Not only does he need to be defeated, but also tarred and feathered and run out of the country across our southern border on a rail southbound. NEVER TILLIS.

"Fourth Reich" sounds about right for the way these globalists are behaving in Germany. Globalism is to the 21st century what fascism was to the 20th and communism to the 19th and 20th.

This wind and solar scam is a threat to our energy security. It is good that Trump is going after it, but we have to remember that our RINO US Senator "Traitor Thom" Tillis is pushing as hard as he can against Trump and for the scam. Tillis needs to be put our to pasture in the 2026 primary.

The partisan abuse of power by this Harry Reid holdover Senate parliamentarian just keeps getting worse and more blatantly partisan. This is the same woman who let Democrats stuff a "reconciliation" bill under Biden dubbed the "Inflation Reduction Act" with all sorts of highly ideological climate alarmist boondoggles and pork.

There is problem not time to remove her but she can be overruled by the Senate. Cowardly useless wimp John Thune refuses to do that. As soon as possible this despicable partisan witch needs a pink slip but wimp Thune will probably not do that either. He is just as utterly useless as Mitch McConnell.

The city manager told the local newspaper with a straight face that it was a tax decrease. He lied and he knew he was lying, but probably instructed to do that by his boss the mayor. Not only is it an increase in terms of cents, 11.5 to be precise, but in percentage terms it is even worse, an increase of over 28%. How do these city buffoons think city taxpayers won't figure that our when they get their tax bills? Citizens will then know that not only have they been soaked by a massive tax increase, but they have also been lied to.

Maybe Sadler is sandbagging the city manager so he can achieve his dream of the first black city manager. When citisens figure out it was a lie, he will be the scapegoat.
Commented: Thursday, June 26th, 2025 @ 1:40 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
You identified the problem. None of this is communicated to the public to allow them to respond until after the fact. We used to have a daily newspaper that carried information like this and had a wide circulation, but what is left of that newspaper is now a pathetic joke. It would help if online publications like this one would help try to get such information out.

What are council members who genuinely want to represent the public going to do? Realize that this budget is a massive burden on citizens and send it back for cuts. They don't have to have people tell them that to comprehend the problem. Unfortunately, Washington now has a council that is almost all pathetic yes-men who will do what Boss Sadler wants. That needs to change.
Commented: Wednesday, June 25th, 2025 @ 3:49 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
The Sadler machine has raised city taxes by 11.5 cents above the revenue neutral rate, an enormous increase on top of the revaluation. Washington's citizens are being clobbered with taxes. We need to oust the tax and spend Sadler machine.

Joe Rogan demolished Bernie Sanders on the issue of "global warming" when Sanders appeared on Rogan's podcast. Sanders gave the usual globalist blather and Rogan took him apart with facts.

Browny, the worst thing is that $4 million is probably just a pass through from our main seafood competitor, Communist China. I think Berger is bought and paid for by the ChiComs. This is the second time he has helped gut American business in a way that benefits Chinese business.
Commented: Monday, June 23rd, 2025 @ 12:20 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
City government is a two man show. The current city council is a toothless joke because a majority is in the mayor's hip pocket. If he says jump, they ask "how high?". Between the major and the manager, I suspect that if the item in on the mayor's personal agenda, he calls the shots, and if not, it is the manager. Of course, Sadler's wife is the power behind his throne, and in many ways, she may be the one calling the shots. At city council meetings, one can witness her furiously texting the mayor up at the front telling him what to do, and him looking down at his phone reading her text instructions. And she holds no elected office. What a sad state our city government is in. Our school board and county are not any better.

Tillis' ties to the wind and solar bandits go back a long way. He was their spear carrier in the state legislature, too. We might as well have Al Gore as our senator. We need to replace Tillis in 2026 and I hope we can do it in the primary. The wind and solar scam has never been anything but pure grift and Tillis is eaten up with it.

This is just another example of how Phil Berger is in the hip pocket of Red China and doing their dirty work to destroy American business and open the door for Chinese competitors. By destroying our seafood industry, he helps China's dominance with its farm raised seafood, which is often of questionable quality.

"China Phil" did the same thing with the NC Green New Deal, HB951, where he is pushing types of energy heavily dominated by Red China - wind and solar - and trying to destroy American energy like coal and gas.

Phil Berger is an enemy and a traitor to America.

Our nation was founded because the people were tired of being overtaxed. The series of taxes that led to the Revolution were adopted by the British parliament, but since George III was the face of the British government, he was the target of people's anger. He certainly did not object to those taxes, so that was justified.

The Democrats of today tax us more than the British parliament did in those days, so it is the Democrats who are the modern tax tyrants.

Commented on Washington Dreaming

The British Conservative Party under small "c" conservative Margaret Thatcher introduced a program for occupants of "council houses" (social housing) to purchase the properties at a reduced price. That program was regarded as successful.

Taxpayers need a change from the tax-and-spend regime now running Washington. Heck, one of their councilmen actually lives in Aurora, not at the address on his voter registration. Another is functionally illiterate. The entire council are pathetic yes-men to Mauor Donald Sadler.

Tillis is worthless. He has been in the pocket of the wind / solar grifters since he was in the NC House, a special interest asset. He does not represent the people of North Carolina. He is also looking out for his own pocketbook because he owns a good bit of stock in a small bank in Mecklenburg County that specializes in lending to the wind and solar boondogglers.

Don Brown for US Senate in GOP primary 2026. He's one of us.

There is probably a lot of this to be found in Biden grant making operations. Other agencies ripe for this would be EPA and Department of Energy, but really all through the corrupt Biden regime. The more than are found and prosecuted the better. While USAID is probably the most corrupt, it is not alons.

Reports also say the shooter Boelter also ran an NGO called Red Lion that worked in the Congo, but ran out of money a few months ago. That smells like a USAID contractor, but if the USAID closure was his beef, this is a strange choice of targets. Maybe it was some kind of strange "false flag" operation. Gaza, USAID, "No Kings" give this a very left wing flavor but something seems to be missing here.

Good for the Polish court! Those EU climate alarmist laws give expensive and unreliable electricity. They were responsible for the recent nationwide blackouts in Spain and Portugal, as well as huge electric rate increases all over Europe. What North Carolina should be concerned about is that the actions of RINOs Phil Berger and Tim Moore in passing NC's own Green New Deal, HB951, North Carolinians will be popped harder for this nonsense than Europeans.

Electric cars can also catch fire when their battery bursts into flame in your driveway or garage and burn your house down. It is great that Trump is taking away the subsidies for them even if that gets Musk's panties in a twist.

Cheeseman got the gold mine. The parents, taxpayers, and students got the shaft. Cheeseman's gold mine is another resume entry on consolidation for his next job in a bigger, better paying school system. Everybody else gets a more screwed up school system., but the shaft is a particularly deep one for the people of Aurora and Richland Township.

Beaufort County is in the middle of an education boondoggle of school consolidations which will cost out taxpayers money while harming education in our county. I wish more school board members would come out from under Cheeseman's spell. They represent the taxpayers and parents, not the superintendent.
