"Green energy" is a scandal in itself. THe only thing "green" about it is the green money that flows into the pockets of the grifters who promote it.Green energy is much more expensive and much less reliable than conventional power. Both wind and solar are land intensive and have led to vast deforestation, which only in an Orwellian sense could be passed off as "green". That deforestation not only includes the sites where the wind and solar "farms" are built, but also vast swaths of the Amazon, known as the "lungs of the planet" which are being clear cut for balsa wood for wind turbine blades.

Here in North Carolina, the scoundrels behind pushing our own green new deal include Phil Berger and Jim Perry in the state senate and Tim Moore in the state house.

If you paid taxes in Washington, Bob, you would understand why the election of Sadler with three of his flunkies on the council is EXTREMELY bad news for our taxapayers. Elected officials with common sense like William Pitt understand that but leftie loons like Sadler never will.

I can't speak for Bobby, but I strongly suspect he will be staying engaged. His knowledge of how the city works will be invaluable in keeping tabs on the Sadlerites.

Pitt and Hodges have been on the council with Sadler and seen that he does not handle someone questioning or disagreeing with his policy very well. Sadler would all too often just refuse to call on Bobby Roberson at all and at one meeting loudly threatened to have the police remove Bobby from the meeting (which would have been illegal if Sadler had followed through on it). Do either of them have the backbone to stand up to a power obsessed mayor who behaves like Idi Amin? I have my doubts.

You're right, Washingtonian. It is going to be up to taxpayers to keep an eye on our city government, and we must remember that the Sddler bunch just refuses to respond to FOIA requests if he wants to cover something up. That is the opposite of transparency.

Well, I guess we can expect more corrupt insider deals like the city buying Brooks' two substandard lots, but who be there to catch it with Bobby Roberson gone? I don't see either Hodges or Pitt having the backbone to do that. They may not vote with Sadler on the more egregious things, but is either likely to have the sorts of confrontations with him that Bobby did over improprieties Sadler was up to? The people do not even have a real watchdog any more. Yes, this is going to be a bad two years.

Like most climate crazy leftie lemmings, Bobbie, you have no understanding of what the greenhouse effect actually is. The greenhouse effect is what keeps Earth warm enough to support life, plant and animal. Without it, this would be a cold, dead, planet. If the greenshouse effect suddenly stopped, we would all be dead instantly, along with all other animals and plants.

CO2 is a very minor greenhouse gas. The most imporant greenhouse gas is water vapor which accounts for ninety percent of the greenhouse effect. Changes in the amount of water vapor in the atmosphere is regulated by solar radiation. That is why periods of low sun spot activity like the Maunder Minimum have also been very cold periods on Earth climatologically.

Some astronomers are predicting a period of low sun spot activity in the near future, so maybe it would actually be beneficial to have some other greenhouse gases present to partly make up for the decrease in water vapor.

Stan, Brabo put her "green" obsession in an ad in yesterday's Washington Daily News. That newspaper does not have the readership it used to, so it is sort of slow getting out.

You are right that the "green energy" movement is not environmaentally friendly. A good example is the government of Baden-Wurttemberg in Germany, led by the "Green Party" turning the Black Forest into sawdust to put up their wind turbines. Or the Scottish government cutting down 13.1 million trees on government land, according to figures by their government forestry service, to build wind farms and solar farms. True environmentalists are often suing to stop these wind and solar monstrosities, like the lawsuit in Germany that has, at least for now, saved the ancient Reinhardswald forest, the setting of Brahms Fairy Tales, from being clear cut for wind turbines.

Gary, there is some point at which you can file a lawsuit to get that information. That lawsuit needs to be filed. This stonewalling by government officials is unconscionable. They are wasting our tax money and should not be allowed to cover that up.

Right at the end of the campaign, Ellen Brabo has come out of the closet full Greta Thunberg, embracing the carbon / climate cult of cliamte alarmism. She wants expensive and unreliable green energy. Since the City of Washington is our electric provider, don't vote for this woman unless you want your electric bill to skyrocket. She put that in an ad right at the end of the campaign. She should have told us she was a disciple of this nonsense earlier. I actually thought early on that she was someone to condider voting for, but now, NO WAY IN HELL. She is clearly on the left end of the political spectrum.

"Clean energy" is an oxymoron. There is nothing "clean" about wind and solar. Just the opposite. Take the 5 million euro fine against a wind farm in Ireland over a fish kill it caused killing millions of fish, or the multiple felony indictments for polluting the groundwater against four wind energy companies operating in the Chatham-Kent district of Ontario? That groundware was so poisonous, thanks to the windfarms, that it was not safe to even take a bath in it.

Wind turbines also present physical dangers as are now being discussed in Scotland: www.scotsman.com

If you check Bobby Roberson's voting record, you will find he has consistently opposed Sadler's big spending and Sadler's tax increases. He has also led some successful battles to protect local citizens from projects pushed by the mayor's cronies.

As to the corruption at the Housing Authority, Bobby was the first to bring this to light. Gary Ceres picked up on it early and has beat the drum more loudly, but it was Bobby who first went to the Register of Deeds to get the goods on the transaction with Richard Brooks. If you had been at his campaign forums, you would have heard him discuss these situations in detail. And Bobby has sent this information to Raleigh to be fully investigated and dealt with. Bobby has also been the one to expose the junketing, all over the country at taxpayer expense by the Housing Authority board, led by Sadler's wife, with Sadler himself on many of those trips.

RINOs in the NC legislature have done worse to North Carolina on a Green New Deal than what the EU has done to itself. RINO legislative leaders Phil Berger and Tim Moore are mostly to blame, but local RINO state senator Jim Perry was a big player in pushing it, too.

The NC Green New Deal, HB951, requires a 70% reduction in CO2 by 2030, significantly more than the 50% required by the EU Green Deal. That will mean much more expensive electricity for NC ratepayers.

Norway is smart to be running away from this green nonsense. North Carolina needs to do so as well. And we need to defeat legislators responsible like Phil Berger and Jim Perry.

Our new House Speaker has it nailed on this one. He has offered a bill to provide military aid to Israel, and to pay for it by zeroing out the 87,000 new IRS auditors. If this works, he has fixed one of McCarthy's awful mistakes.

This FOIA request seems geared primarily to the junketing all over the country at taxpayer expense by the Washington Housing Authority members appointed by Sadler, which include Sadler's wife and his pastor. Mayor Sadler, himself, went on many of those junket trips. When they stonewall you, the next thing to do is sue them in court. Of course, it is likely that once the election is over and hiding this stuff is no longer politically important to them, they will then likely give it to you.

On Brooks' motion and vote to appropriate money to buy property he himself owned, this is a clear ethical violation, one that got a Hyde County commissioner prosecuted criminally. Sadler clearly knew what was going on and did not tell the rest of the council. I wonder if he could be charged as well? At the very least, Brooks should be compelled to give the money he received back to the city. He should not be allowed to profiteer off of his unethical behavior.
Commented: Tuesday, October 31st, 2023 @ 10:20 am By: Concerned Taxpayer
That taxpayer money, over half a million bucks, was to buy and develop two substandard lots belonging to Richard Brooks. Ethics laws required Brooks to recuse himself (not participate) in approval of that transaction, but he violated those laws by making the motion and then voting in favor of it. A Hyde County Commissioner was prosecuted for doing something similar. This is pure sleaze and we do not need sleazy politicians like this in public office.

With all the adverising money that Cheeseman wastes on puff piece ads in the Washington Daily News, he could easily pay for filming the school board meetings. He just does not want to, and a majority of the go-along get-along school board members refuse to push him.

You can find those deeds easy enough in the Register of Deeds office. You may or may not get the city manager to let you see the Council minutes, but they are clear, too. This is corruption to the nth degree, and Brooks needs to give back the money.

The city's outside audit was scheduled to be made public several weeks ago, but Sadler postponed it until after the election. Can you spell C-O-V-E-R-U-P?

Time to get out of the UN mousetrap. The current Secretary General is a socialist who is more interested in pushing leftwing dogma than in working for peace. He is using his office to be the top globalist propagandist for the globalist climate alarmist narrative. He is little more than a snake oil salesman for the biggest doomsday cult in history, Chicken Little on steroids.

We did indeed see with the Russia / Ukraine crisis, a very real crisis unlike "climate change" and the Hamas terrorist crisis that the UN is absolutely useless and in some ways even counterproductive. We need to save our money and our effort. THe UN needs to go the way of the League of Nations. That Czech Defense Minister sure has it right.

For legal immigrants, they have to file an Affidavit of Support from American citizens which pledges that those citizens will provide any needed support to the immigrant for five years after their arrival. They are legally not eligible for any support programs except emergency Medicaid and natural disaster related assistance.

People who have illegally entered the country are not supposed to get any public assistance program but the loophole is that anchor babies do qualify and that brings others in the family into some programs by the back door.

Those who are deemed "refugees" however have it made as they are entitled to all welfare programs. That is one reason why most illegal aliens try to claim asylum. This is a real racket and the Biden regime keeps trying to expand the ranks of those parasites who can kick back on welfare.

Washington has a Tammany Hall machine in place under Donald Sadler, and the voters need to remove that cancer from control of our city government. Sadler has had two absolute rubberstamps on the city council, the semi-literate Richard Brooks and the often drunk Mike Renn. They will do whatever Sadler tells them to do. Now Sadler has two more rubberstamps running, Anthony Tyre (who really lives in Aurora) and Antwon Horton.

Yes, Sadler went with his wife on many if not all of those taxpayer funded junkets. You left out the one to Las Vegas. So did Sadler's preacher who he also appointed to the Washington Housing Authority.

Washington taxpayers need an outside agency, maybe the State Auditor or the Local Government Commission to investigate the goings on at the Washington Housing Authority. Gary, you have been stonewalled, but they cannot stonewall state agencies like that. If things were on the up and up, you would have had an answer by now.

Smaller schools for localized areas are much better for race relations because in a smaller group setting students can much more easily relate to each other as individals rather than on an impersonal large group racial stereo type basis. Getting to know each other as individuals is the best way to break down racial stereotyping and racial division. But, of course, the far left WANTS racial division and racial stereotyping.

The climate alarmists are Chicken Little on steroids. None of their dire warmings ever actually come true. Dozens of those dire warnings have already passed the dates when they were supposed to have happened and not a one of them has come true or even come close to coming true. They are liars and blowhards and any politician who follows their ravings is either an idiot or is using it to push his own power.

NO, I am not going to eat bugs and worms. NO, I will not buy an overly expensive, inconvenient, self-combusting electric vehicle. NO, I do not want expensive and unreliable wind and solar energy. These blowhards can get stuffed.

Tyre is on both the slate of the corrupt Sadler machine and the slate of the county Democrat Party. Do they not care where the guy actually lives? Does power mean that much to them? Of course it does to Boss Hogg Sadler, who has had two absolute yes-men on the city council, Mike Renn, a drunk who is not running again, and the barely literate Richard Brooks, both of them easy to control. Renn is not running again, so Boss Sadler is looking for two new flunkies who are easy to control and thinks he has found them in Antwon Horton and Anthony Tyre. If Sadler, Tyre, Horton, and Brooks are elected, out city government will operate just like Tammany Hall, and hold onto your wallets.

Hmmm! Both major negative financial indicators flashing red for Washington, NC at the same time. And our spendthrift mayor taking a "move along, nothing to see here" stance on it in his campaign mailing. Voters should run, not walk, away from the existing power clique, but how many voters will find out given that our local newspaper is a pathetic joke that covers only fluff? Taxpayers need to flood social media with this and get the word out before voters go to the polls. Put up a link and ask people to share it. If Washington were a business corporation, its stock would be dropping like a stone right now.

The difference, EM, is that Kidwell and Speciale were able to get the major bad stuff cut out of the budget, so they voted for it. Knowing both, I am sure they would have stuck to their guns if that stuff was not removed. Walter Jones and Hood Richardson were not successful in getting the bad stuff cut out, so they stuck to their guns and voted regularly against budgets that overspent the tazpayers money.

I have not watched Richardson at meetings, but I have read his materials here on the budget (more interesting than the tempest in a teacup over the Register of Deeds), and he has posted well thought out objections to Beaufrot County's overspending. The taxpayers need more Richardsons and Deatherages and fewer Waters, Booths, and Rebholtz'.
Commented: Sunday, October 22nd, 2023 @ 4:15 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
Voting against budgets full of waste and fluff is what fiscal conservatives do. It is what Walter Jones did his whole Congressional career. It is what Keith Kidwell announced he would do if the Senate insisted on putting some improper things in the budget. It is what former State Repesentative Mike Speciale did if certain spending items were not taken out of the budget. I could go on. It is also what fiscal conservative Hood Richardson has done.

Our county commission has been under the control of a rotten coalition of Democrats and liberal Republicans for many years and they spend way too much money. Our taxes are higher than they ought to be. Personally, I will never vote for any of the damn spenders who do that to taxpayers.

And "Ethics Matter" has outted himself / herself as a taxer and spender, probably a Biden Democrat. He / she certainly thinks like a Biden Democrat.

I do not agree with Richardson on everything, but he has been a champion for the taxpayers on the county commission, much better than Democrat allies Waters and Rebholtz, or Randy Walker who can't seem to figure out if he is coming or going.

Candidates who refuse to tell you where they stand on issues, like Mary Beedle, Antwon Horton, Anthony Tyre, Ellen Brabo, and yes, Lou Hodges, are not politicians who can be trusted, and should not be voted for. There is an old saying in politics that "if you don't stand for something, you will fall for anything." There is also the old sayiing about not buying "a pig in a poke".

There are a lot of people who need to be indicted under that statute, Country Girl, starting with Biden himself and Mayorkas, and going down through the Biden regime. Also, many of the pro-migrant NGOs. There needs to be a special prosecutor appointed to bring indictments. Other charges can include being accessories to human smauggling. Illegal migrants are soaking our American taxpayers. Why should taxpayers have to pay out the nose to put them up in high class hotels and feed them? A plane ticket home is a lot cheaper.
Commented: Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 @ 7:02 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
I think the lawsuits against the city are the reason Sadler delayed the city audit until after election day. The Powell Place lawsuit, where Sadler abused city zoning and permitting law to keep a low income houseing development out of his own personal neighborhood, has cost city taxpayers $148,000 between lawyer fees and having to pay a settlement to the developer. Now another lawsuit, also involving the Sadler regime abusing zoning and permitting powers has already cost taxpayers oveer $25,000 in lawyer fees and the clock is running.

Given the population of Washington, that is $18 for every man, woman, and child in the city, or $80 for a family of five. Is this where our tax money should be going?

Sadler and his yes men, Brooks, Horton, and Tyre, need to be defeated by the voters. His political machine needs to be thrown out of office for their malfeasance.
Commented: Tuesday, October 17th, 2023 @ 1:58 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
Talk is cheap. Perry's votes are what counts. That is only a smokescreen. What is the old saying about "all talk and no DO"?

Maybe "Casino Jim" Perry's vocal support of such leftwing programs as the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, the NC Green New Deal (HB951), the Blue Cross raid on its reserves, and gambling bills, which also matched up with his votes for those issues are causing him to want a little deniability by setting up a smokescreen.

So what exactly is Congleton's position on taxes? I trust Pitt on taxes from his voting record, and I believe Melton and Ceres. From what I read that Peyton-Jones is okay, too.

Sadler has screwed Washington taxpayers to the wall. He and his Yes men need to be voted down. Hodges waffled and voted wrong. She needs to go, too.
Commented: Friday, October 13th, 2023 @ 12:28 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
NCInnovation is a terrible misuse of taxpayer money but it is par for the course for an Obama Republican like Phil "Boss Hogg" Berger. Berger already pushed through a lot of Cooper and Biden's agenda like the Obamacare Medicaid expansion and the Green New Deal, and "Casino Jim" Perry was right there with him on all of this left wing legislation. Both need to be run out of office on a rail by primary voters.
Commented: Friday, October 13th, 2023 @ 12:25 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
So this is how Sadler uses that 12% tax increase he imposed on us (along with Richard Brooks, Lou Hodges, and Mike Renn)? To keep a low cost development away from his own neighborhood? Shame on him! Taxpayers need to remove him from office Novermber 7.

What a corrupt waste of taxpayer money. More stinking subsidies of electric cars that polls and actual dealer experience show that most people do not want to buy. And to a foreign company at that. Why should this boondoggle be foisted upon taxpayers? We need more conservatives and fewer RINOs in the legislature, more Keith Kidwells and fewer Jim Perrys.
