Commented on What's wrong with Washington city finances?Hmmm! Both major negative financial indicators flashing red for Washington, NC at the same time. And our spendthrift mayor taking a "move along, nothing to see here" stance on it in his campaign mailing. Voters should run, not walk, away from the existing power clique, but how many voters will find out given that our local newspaper is a pathetic joke that covers only fluff? Taxpayers need to flood social media with this and get the word out before voters go to the polls. Put up a link and ask people to share it. If Washington were a business corporation, its stock would be dropping like a stone right now.

Commented on The Register of Deeds--The rest of the storyThe difference, EM, is that Kidwell and Speciale were able to get the major bad stuff cut out of the budget, so they voted for it. Knowing both, I am sure they would have stuck to their guns if that stuff was not removed. Walter Jones and Hood Richardson were not successful in getting the bad stuff cut out, so they stuck to their guns and voted regularly against budgets that overspent the tazpayers money.
I have not watched Richardson at meetings, but I have read his materials here on the budget (more interesting than the tempest in a teacup over the Register of Deeds), and he has posted well thought out objections to Beaufrot County's overspending. The taxpayers need more Richardsons and Deatherages and fewer Waters, Booths, and Rebholtz'.

Commented on The Register of Deeds--The rest of the storyVoting against budgets full of waste and fluff is what fiscal conservatives do. It is what Walter Jones did his whole Congressional career. It is what Keith Kidwell announced he would do if the Senate insisted on putting some improper things in the budget. It is what former State Repesentative Mike Speciale did if certain spending items were not taken out of the budget. I could go on. It is also what fiscal conservative Hood Richardson has done.
Our county commission has been under the control of a rotten coalition of Democrats and liberal Republicans for many years and they spend way too much money. Our taxes are higher than they ought to be. Personally, I will never vote for any of the damn spenders who do that to taxpayers. And "Ethics Matter" has outted himself / herself as a taxer and spender, probably a Biden Democrat. He / she certainly thinks like a Biden Democrat. I do not agree with Richardson on everything, but he has been a champion for the taxpayers on the county commission, much better than Democrat allies Waters and Rebholtz, or Randy Walker who can't seem to figure out if he is coming or going.

There are a lot of people who need to be indicted under that statute, Country Girl, starting with Biden himself and Mayorkas, and going down through the Biden regime. Also, many of the pro-migrant NGOs. There needs to be a special prosecutor appointed to bring indictments. Other charges can include being accessories to human smauggling. Illegal migrants are soaking our American taxpayers. Why should taxpayers have to pay out the nose to put them up in high class hotels and feed them? A plane ticket home is a lot cheaper.

I think the lawsuits against the city are the reason Sadler delayed the city audit until after election day. The Powell Place lawsuit, where Sadler abused city zoning and permitting law to keep a low income houseing development out of his own personal neighborhood, has cost city taxpayers $148,000 between lawyer fees and having to pay a settlement to the developer. Now another lawsuit, also involving the Sadler regime abusing zoning and permitting powers has already cost taxpayers oveer $25,000 in lawyer fees and the clock is running.
Given the population of Washington, that is $18 for every man, woman, and child in the city, or $80 for a family of five. Is this where our tax money should be going? Sadler and his yes men, Brooks, Horton, and Tyre, need to be defeated by the voters. His political machine needs to be thrown out of office for their malfeasance.

Maybe "Casino Jim" Perry's vocal support of such leftwing programs as the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, the NC Green New Deal (HB951), the Blue Cross raid on its reserves, and gambling bills, which also matched up with his votes for those issues are causing him to want a little deniability by setting up a smokescreen.

Yes there is, Stan. Manmade CO2 is a tiny fraction of the CO2 released each year into the atmosphere, and CO2 is a very minor greenshouse gas. More to the point, the timing of carbon rises in the atmosphere totally debunk the theory that it is a cause of climate changes. The rises in percentage of CO2 FOLLOW temperature rises with a lag of over 100 years, while the decreases in CO2 FOLLOW temperature declines with a lag of over 100 years. If they were a cause of those temperature changes, they would LEAD them, NOT follow them. Rises in CO2 in the atmosphere are CAUSED by warming temperature, not the other way round. Watch the "Great Global Warming Swindle" TV documentary and let the scientists interviewed there explain it to you.

Stan, you might want to review the many prominent scientists interviewed in the British TV documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle" or the recent statement by 1,600 scientists including two Nobel Prize winners who debunk the theory of manmade global warming. The fact are that the greenhouse effect is necessary to keep the earth warm enough to support life, that C02 is a necessary nutriet for plants and without it all plant life would die, that CO2 is a very minor greenhouse gas, that water vapor is by far the most important greenhouse gas accounting for 90% of the greenhouse effect, that humans provide only a miniscule portion of the CO2 in the atmosphere, and that the Earth has continuously gone through multi-century climate cycles. We are now in one of those natural warming cycles following the end of the last cold cycle know as the Little Ice Age or Maunder Minimum in the 19th century. The previous warm cycle, when it was warmer than today, known as the Medieval Warm Period, was a time of great wealth and prosperity for the human race.
The theory about human produced CO2 making the Earth warmer was concocted by a Swedish psychicist in the 1890s and got almost no traction beyound his own writings, until an article in the British scientific journal, The New Scientist, rehashed it in the 1970s. The only reason it got traction then was political, not scientific. It was convenient to Margaret Thatcher in her battles with the coal miners unions and the arab oil shieks to bolster her desire to move to nuclear power, so her government put out gobs of grant money to promote it, and scientists came running to collect that money. Then the UN discovered how it could be used for their own political purposes and jumped on the bandwagon. Watch "The Great Global Warming Swindle". It totally debunks the claim that man's actions have anything at all to do with climate. Here is a link to it: www.youtube.com

Yeah, Texas gets it. AFter a major blackout when wind and solar failed to produce during a blizzard, and multiple times they have had to scramble to buy power on the open market in summer and winter when wind and solar was not producing, Texas took action. They spent $10 billion to build more gas plants to provide reliable and cheap electricity and imposed punitive fees and penalties to discourage more unreliable wind and solar.
Only globalist demagogues think the world is "cooking". Temperatures were higher during the 300 years of the Medieval Warm Period, which produced positive, not negative impacts. It was MUCH warmer during the 3,000 years of the Holocene Maximum, which was the golden age of ancient Greece, again without any ill effects. As the former President and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Dr. Vaclav Klaus has said, climate alarmism is "a budding totalitarian ideology that is the greatest threat to freedom, democracy, and prosperity in the world today>"

Half of Canada? There goes Bullshot Bob on another of his wild exagerations.
There is a long known and understood short term climate cycle between El Nino and La Nina that cuased weather conditions favorable to wildfiree this year. That was also true in Europe, and there it was arson that was found to be the main ignition source. Indeed, there is one interesting video out of some Greek citizens making a citizen arrest of a group of illegal alien migrants attempting to light a wildfire and locking them up in the back of a truck until they got the cops there. Another big factor many places in wildfires is that too many governmental bodies are following the diktat of some eco-freaks and not clearing the underbrush as used to be done regularly in forest management, so that now once a wildfire starts, it has a lot more fuel to expand and keep burning. That video is impressive as are the speakers environmental credentials. The likes of Al Gore, John Kerry, and Greta Thunberg are not even close.

The first step is an indictment. This would seem a pretty simple case to prove. The minutes would show the improper actions of the elected official, and the deeds and closing documents would show whose property it was that was being bought. The one that would be tricky to prove would be the mayor because he and his wife would likely plead the 5th as to what they knew. There would be too much documentary evidence for that to save the councilman.
The problem is getting a proper investigation because too many in high places look the other way when it is Democrats involved in hanky panky. Our state DOJ is just as politicized as Biden's DOJ, for example.

Legislating punitive penalties and fees at the state level on wind and solar is hardly "loving it". The problem is that the wind and solar grifters "love" the federal subsidies, and Texas is imposing fees and penalties to counteract those so they can put the brakes on wind and solar. Texas taxpayers are also having to kick in $10 billion to incentivize new gas power plants to keep the grid up and prevent blackouts when the wind is not blowing (or blowing too hard) and the sun is not shining.
The Wall Street Journal wrote an editorial this past April on the problems that "green energy" brings to Texas that was entitled "A Texas sized Energy Fiasco" which begins "What a mess. Renewable subsidies have distorted and destabilized the Texas electric grid . . ." To avoid the paywall, that editorial is reposted in full at the link below: stopthesethings.com

Texas is suffering from even that much of this unreliable wind and solar, which was largely foisted upon them by people chasing federal subsidies. We saw that with a winter blackout due to the unreliability of wind and solar, and many other times, including in recent weeks, where the grid was strained and had to buy power on the open market to avoid blackouts due to wind droughts and the fact that solar does not produce at all at night. When the grid has to buy power on the open market, power bills to customers go to the moon, but the alternative is blackouts.
That is the chaos that our legislative RINOs, including Sen. Jim Perry, are foisting on NC with HB951, the NC Green New Deal. But Texas is doing something to counter the impact of those federal subsidies, passing state legislation to put state fees on wind and solar to counterbalance the federal subsidies. www.houstonchronicle.com

Where was the city manager on all of this? He is supposed to look over city financial activities. Was he too incompetent to catch on what was happening? Or did he keep his mouth shut to please Sadler? Either way, the question is why should he still have a job? Hopefully this has been reported to the appropriate authorities, whether that is the Local Government Commission, the State Auditor, the state Attorney General, the local sheriff, or whoever. The climate alarmist agenda is a pro-China agenda, and they are helping fund the propaganda for it. It makes us dependant on China for our energy, since they dominate materials and equipment for solar and wind power, and because of their dominance in electric car batteries, it will transfer automaking from American and Europe to China. No wonder that pro-China and China-bribed president Biden is pushing it. He is in China's hip pocket.

So only the powerful special interests have the money to buy Pay-to-Play Perry? Like Big Medicine or the Green New Deal crowd? Look at Perry's liberal voting record and then look at the special interests that bought him. The latest is the casino cabal, and it cost them over $40,000 to buy Perry. Yeah, he is not cheap, but he is for sale to the highest bidder.
And actually Causey has a very strong record of helping consumers when they have a problem with insurance companies. The problem between Perry and Causey has to do with that crooked Blue Cross bill that Perry pushed and Causey vocally opposed. That bill royally screwed consumers to pander to a special interest that gave Perry money. And Perry was throwing consumers under the bus while Causey was standing up for their rights.

This is not about free enterprise. It is about corrupt power politics to push the desires of a corrupt special interest that has bought the political favor of several powerful politicians inlcuding Senate President Pro Tem Phil Berger and this district's pay-for-play senator Jim Perry. They are playing hardball with conscientious legislators, threatening to take all the money for their districts out of the budget unless they support the casinos. That is extortion and Berger and Perry are some of the chief extortionists.
There is the victim town, Summerfield, in Berger's home county. They have already passed a resolution that they do not want the casino. Hundreds of citizens have turned out to meetings opposing the casino. What did Berger do? He rammed through a bill de-annexing a doughnut hole in the town where the casino was planned and took away even extra-territorial zoning power from the town. This is all about a big contributor and buddy of Berger who wants to build a casino and his corrupt power politics to run over everybody elese to help him. I have heard that Berger is going to get a primary challenge and he badly needs one. Our own corrupt senator, Jim Perry, does too. And, hey, Walter Brown, the presidents who grab the private parts of women are Bill Clinson and Joe Biden. They kept the official tax rate the same, saying they were just adding a utility fee. As if voters could not see through that bullshit.
