Sen. Perry's worst betrayal of the taxpayers was the Obamacare Medicaid expansion. A few years down the road, when the federal government's promise to cover most of the new cost expires, state taxpayers are going to be taken to the cleaners for this boondoggle. In the meantime, all that extra cost is going out of the taxpayers' other pocket in federal taxes. Taxpayers are being socked for a huge cost either way. And most of the new recipients of this Medicaid welfare have previously had private health plans funded by their employers. The big hospitals want that group shoved onto the taxpayers back because it is a steop toward their socialitic wet dream of single payer health care. Perry just helped shove us farther down that evil road. He needs to be G-O-N-E from politics.

His Green New Deal, is also going to be a nightmare for NC electric ratepayers as this green energy nonsense already is in other countries.

This is how they manufacture their false claims of "consensus". We should also remember that 1.600 scientists, including two Nobel prize winners, just release a climate declaration in which they declared "there is NO climate emergency".

RINO Senator Jim Perry has beern a big government whore on a lot of things. He was a leading supporter of the Obamacare Medicaid expansion and also of the far left NC Green New Deal, just to mention two of the most important ones. This dude might as well be a Democrat as he votes like one. We really need to dump this turkey in the primary. He is now also pushing the "NC Innovation" slush fund boondoggle to waster taxpayer money for insider payoffs.

The climate charade has always been a political ploy since it was revived in the 1980s. A Swedish physicist concocted it in the 1890s and it got no traction then. When a British scientific magazine mentioned this old and discredited theory in an article, Prime Minister Thatcher saw it as useful in battling her enemies the coal miner unions and the arab oil sheiks and to help in promoting her vision of nuclear power, so her government put out a bunch of grant money. It was totally politically motivated, but they knew if they set out a pig trough of money, scientists will come running with their tongues hanging out for grants, and they did. Since then, the globalists at the UN, WEF, and elsewhere have seen the benefit to keep the money flowing to advance their agenda, as have the Russians and Chinese.

The globalist totalitarians have even been floating the idea of climate lockdowns.

Former Czech Republic president and prime minister Dr. Vaclav Klaus said it best when he described climate alarmism as "a budding totalitarian ideology that is the greatest threat to freedom, democracy, and prosperity in the world today." President Klaus has written a book "Blue Planet in Green Shackles: what is in jeopardy - climate or freedom?" that has been published in eight languages.

If Margaret Thatcher had known who would have picked up on this charade, I suspect she would never have gotten it started with the politically motivated money she put into it.

If you believe that, Norma, you must think Biden has saved us money on our gas and groceries. Reality says otherwise.

Gas prices - No one else seems to have joined Speedway's big increase this time. In fact, one station reduced its price in response. The 76 convenience store on Bridge Street lowered its price by 3 cents from $3.42 to $3.39 after Speedway upped its price from $3.45 to $3.59. So that 76 station is now the cheapest in town and 20 cents a gallon lower than Speedway.

Roy Cooper wants to make homes cost more, which is why he wants all that environmental extremists stuff in the Building Code. He is tryiing to use the bureaucracy to make laws, just like Biden. An over powerful bureaucracy is a threat to democracy. It is a good thing our elected legsilators put an end to this crap in this instance. They need to do more or it. This would have just put more cost for the left's climate agenda on homebuyers.

These things have lots of impacts. At least in Pamlcio County, there is no local taxpayer money going into it, although there will undoubtedly be taxpayer money from other levels in it. There are also impacts on nearby property values that need to be considered and other impacts. It is feared that Beaufort County's Democrat-RINO alliance will push us even deeper into this mess than a mere resolution.

Talk about a double standard. Fani Willis has never charged Stacey Abrams for her repeated claims of election fraud and that she really won the 2018 Georgia governor's race, or the many Democrats who joined in that claim. Abrams is right there in Georgia, but she is a Democrat, and in the corrupt Democrat "justice" system there are very different rules for Democrats than Republicans. Fani Willis is a disgrace who is abusing her office for a political hit job. She needs, at a minimum to be removed from office.

I cannot remember a presidential general election debate where the GOP nominee was not having to debate the biased liberal moderators as well as the Democrat nominee. I read that the RNC is not going to deal with the badly biased establishemt swamp Presidential Debate Commission any more but instead negotiate directly with the Democrat Party to arrange debates. That is a step forward, but reining in the ezcess control by the moderators needs to be part of the equation. In last night's debate the bias of the moderators showed repeatedly.

Their trying to rope the candidates into agreeing to the globalist climate orthodoxy with a show of hands was repulsive. It was good to see multiple candidates rebuke them in detail on that.

During the Medieval Warm Period, which was significantly warmer than today for several centuries, there was no need for people to rethink how they did anything. Indeed, with the warm weather, it was a very prosperous time. It was the next cycle, a cold cycle known as the Little Ice Age or the Maunder Minimum, that presented more of a challenge to human society. Then there was the granddaddy of all warm periods, the Holocene Maximum, when it was much warmer than today for three thousand years. That was the heyday of ancient Greek civilization, and ancient Greek writings show they also did not have to rethink anything due to it being warm, and again it was a very prosperous time.

That "rethinking" you support is nothing but globalist efforts at people control, part of Klaus Schwab's "Great Reset", and why the left hypes this "climate change" mania so hard

Hawaii's electric company KNEW the lesson. THey studied what happened in California FIVE YEARS AGO. And it is MORE than just turning power off sometimes. It is protecting power lines from blowing down. But they would rather build hideous and inefficient wind and solar farms instead.

It is your woke "global warming" narrative that is untrue. The Earth has always gone through cyclical warming and cooling cycles. We are in one of those natural cycles right now and turning over our energy sector to control by China which dominates the wind and solar supply chain is just nuts, Bolshevik Bob. It is just another aspect of your advocay for Red China.

Hawaii's woke electric company studied the problems with power lines blowing down in high winds in California and starting wildfires five years ago but did nothing to secure their power lines at home, They would rather fritter sawy their time on the woke climate narrative than protect their customers from wildfire by makking their lines more secure. California's electric company got sued for that, and Hawaii's should as well.

Solar and wind power also threaten the consumers' pocketbooks. Everywhere solar and wind have been implemented in a big way has seen huge electric rate increases for consumers. Germany's residential electric rates have zoomed to three times those of North Carolina since Merkel started her "energy trasnistion" to wind and solar. Even compared to its neighbors, German electric rates are twice as high as neighboring nuclear powered France and almost three times as high as coal-fired Poland. That is what these despicable RINOs Berger and Moore are bringing to North Carolina, working hand in glove for the same policies as Biden.

Browny, you have hit the nail on the head. Red China dominates the supply chain for both raw materials and finished equipment for the wind and solar boondoggles. Going to wind and solar is making us dependent on China, a dangerous enemy, for our energy.

Our foreign aid budget needs a meat cleaver taken to it, and this particular spending to the Taliban is an outrage. Is Biden also sending money to ISIS or Al Qaeda? Biden and many of his underlings need to be in prison.

North Carolina does not need casinos. They bring in crime and labor unions. Phil Berger and Jim Perry are so out of touch with the Republican base, they act more like Democrats as they carry water for the liberal positions of the special interests.

Thanks, Keith, for looking out for us. I wish we had more legislators who did that. Norm Sanderson seems to always come through, too, but there are too few of you in the Republican caucus.

Our local gas prices are being manipulated. I bought gas in Craven County west of New Bern Saturday for $3.38 a gallon. It was NOT a Speedway. Another station hereby was $3.39. This was several days after the prices in Washington were jacked up about 30 cents higher than that. Indeed, Greenville has always had the highest gas prices around and coming back through Greenville I saw quite a few stations cheaper than Washiington. We know who is manipulating our gas prices.

Race hustler Bob is so obsessed with race as usual, that he / she can't see the forest for the trees. Hitler's dictatorial powers were built by using executive action and bypassing the elected Reichstag. That is exactly what the Biden regime is doing. Government control of private business while leaving it in private ownership is a key element of fascist doctrine, and it is what Hitler did. Biden is on that same path which was known as "the corporate state" in the 1930s. Then there is gun control which is really people control, that was a part of Hitler's power play in the 1930s as it is in Biden's today.

If the Biden group goes racial / ethnic at all, their targets will not be the ones you mention, but will be Christian white straight males or people with one or more of those characteristics.

Your globalist narrative tells you that, Bolshevik Bob, but if you live in the real world, buy gas and groceries, for example, you would know the narrative is nothing but BS. The polls show that most Americans understand that. Here for example is a very recent one from CBS News, a knee jerk liberal source but that still shows real people do not agree with Biden's blather on the economy: www.cbsnews.com

America in 2023 feels like Germany in 1933 or Russia in 1917 must have felt. Our democracy is on the edge and may be about to go over completely. Biden is not bright enough to be doing this, but those pulling his puppet strings are.

Ted Budd is the only senator NC taxpayers can count on, and Dan Bishop is the only congressman we can count on. The rest of our delegation are tax and spend snakes. Walter Jones used to be one of the taxpayers' best friends in DC, but his RINO replacement, Greg Murphy sells out to the RINO swamp leadership at the drop of a hat.

That chart is instructive. Considering all the wasteful taxpayer subsidies of wind and solar, they provide only a tiny part of our energy needs. Biden wasted hundreds of billions more on that fools errand. This is nothing but a politically motivated boondoggle. The Democrats don't care how much they raise our electric rates just so they can pay hommage to their Climate Scientology cult.

Here is another lie from the climate alarmists, including the UN. As they whine about how hot it is this summer, they neglect to tell you that the percentage of the US that has reached 100 degrees F this summer is only 18%, which is a record low. The record high was in 1936, when it was 79%. 1936 was in the middle of the Great Depression, when industrial activity including production of CO2 had cratered.

Warm or cold ocean water temperatures are what drive the El Nino / La Nina cycles that last 2 or 3 years and then reverse. We are currently in a strong El Nino period. El Nino or La Nina has a very significant impact on temperatures and rainfall on land.

Climate science has long known of the multi-century warming and cooling cycles the Earth goes through, and the last previous warming cycle, the Medieval Warm Period, was warmer than today for several hundred years. The biggest warm period, the Holocene Maximum, was much warmer than today for three thousand years. Northing bad happened to Earth in any of the previous warm periods. Indeed humanity suffered worse in the last cooling period, known as the Little Ice Age or the Maunder Minimum.

If one actually looked at how the greenhouse effect works, it is clear that the greenhouse effect is NOT involved in current warming. If the greenhouse effect went away, the Earth would be far too cold to sustain life. All of that is explained in that British TV documentary.

Like most far lefts types, you take a small piece of information and twist it into something you claimi in major but it is not.

A physicist understands how all the processes involvee actually work, and can understand the fact that CO2 has never driven climate in the past and does not do so now. And the mad scientist in Sweden who invented the manmade CO2 global warming theory back in 1896 was, guest what?, a physicist. The theory had so little credibility that it was totally forgotten until someone dredged it up in 1981.

There are scientists expert on the climate and in fact who have attended the UN's climate chanage conferences who are interviewed in that British TV documentary who tear the manmade CO2 theory of global warming to shreds.

The climate alarmist scientists rely on the voodoo science of computer modelling. When one sets up a computer model, they can set it up to produce whatever range of results they want.

One of the sets of facts that disproves the manmade CO2 theory of global warming is the relationship between warming and the amount of CO2 in the atmosphere. If CO2 caused warming, itcreases in it would precede warming, but it doesn't. Instead it does the opposite and lags substantially behind warming, meaning it is a RESULT of the warming, NOT a cause of it.

This Andy Wells sounds like what we do not need as governor. Dale Folwell is the clear choice for taxpayers. He has the track record as State Treasurer both on understanding and dealing with the issues and having the backbone to stand up and fight. Folwell is head and shoulders above the rest. Robinson talks a very good game, but his performance is not up to that of Folwell. Still, he would be my second choise.

This ferry toll business would be bad for both the people and the economy of Beaufort County if it is not stopped in the legislature.

Stan, you are spot on when you call Perry "tone deaf". I checked into him when he screwed us on the Medicaid expansion, which is part and parcel of Obamacare. He is personally a multi-millionaire who in his own life does not have to worry about what things cost, so he just doesn't care about the financial burdens he places on others. He did not care that the Medicaid expansion would drive up health care costs and insurance costs for the rest of us. He does not care that the ferry tolls will be a financial burden on those who have to use the ferries daily to get to their jobs. He did not care that the Green New Deal he pushed will cause major increases in the electric bills for ordinary citizens and for small busiinesses.

And Steven, you put it very mildly when you said you wished Perry would listen more to grassroots Republicans. The fact is that he does not listen at all. Perry's MO is to gather campaign money from special interests and then do their bidding in Raleigh. He had done nothing in the Republican Party when a Senate vacancy occured and Perry was looking for something to do after selling his company. He has spent no time in the party trenches and does not appreciate party activists or voters.

Jim Perry is exactly the type of person that we do NOT need to be electing to public office. He does not seem to have been a major player in pushing the tolls, but he was in a position he could have fought it when it went through the Senate and failed to do so.
