Phil Berger is worse than Basnight, but Basnight was pretty bad himself. Darren Armstrong was a big Basnight supporter when he lived in Hyde County, so it is no surprise that he is in league with Berger now. He seems attracted to power bullies like Basnight and Berger.

Those Shrimpgate videos show that Kidwell has been fighting hard for the little guys like our commercial fishermen against the powerful special interests. It is also telling that he also went to bat to save our raw milk farmers from this Jimmy Dixon thug.

BUt one can go back even farther to the Covid era and the medical fascism of Roy Cooper. Kidwell was the one who raised the money, recruited the plaintiffs, and hired the lawyers to get Cooper's closing of the churches ruled unconstitutional. Then he proceeded to do the same thing to get the courts to halt Cooper's shutdowns of various types of businesses.

Kidwell has quite a record of fighting for the little guy against the special interests and even against the governor, and winning. We need to keep him in Raleigh, not send a special interest recruit to replace him.

It looks to me that when Carolyn Walker switched her registration from Democrat, she still kept a lot of her old Democrat thinking. One would hope she would listen to President Trump and Vice President Vance and start thinking like a Republican, which she is supposed to be.

Tyre is a slug who is just trying to protect the sleazy Sadler machine and cover up their sleaze. If he wants to be on a city council, he should run in Greenville, where the condo he owns and lives in is located, not from a fake downtown address in Washington.

Phil Berger is poison. He endorsed a very liberal Democrat for superior court judge against a conservative Republican, and he has been charged by multiple county and district parties including our own 3rd District with party disloyalty. Those charges have been pending for a year, but our establishment hack NCGOP chairman Jason Simmons is pulling dodge after dodge to keep the trial from coming up at the state executive committee. The Berger mafia needs to GO.

All I can say is that Craven County's loss (getting Cheeseman) is Beaufort County's gain (getting rid of Cheeseman).

Craven County is going to end up regretting not talking to folks here about this guy. I guess he saw the writing on the wall with the now booted city manager.

That despicable thug Tyree does not even really live in the city. He is a fraud and an imposter. Throw the bum O-U-T.

Washingtonian, Going from managing a city of almost 10,000 to a town of about 1.200 is a huge professional comedown for the former manager, but remember he walked away from here with a big stash of loot he did not deserve bestowed upon him by our corrupt defeated city political machine for being their loyal lackey. The new city government needs to claw that back, either from the former manager or from those who wrongfully bestowed it on him. Sue their pants off!

Carolyn Walker has been the superintendent's "pet" on the board for a long time. There is little doubt about what motivated her actions. That was just another power play. Do you remember when her daughter got a big promotion in the school system, jumping over more qualified people who had been waiting longer? Word is that she is behind recruiting the new challenger for this seat, as well.

Stan, you are absolutely right about Frankie Waters. Since he has been a county commissioner, Waters has split Republicans in order to align with the liberal Democrats. He is as phony as a three dollar bill and always has been. Even during his first campaign for commissioner as a newly minted "Republican" Waters and his wife still made a political contribution during that campaign to a liberal Democrat local legislator. He made another Democrat financial contribution in 2022 to the Democrat nominee for Beaufort County Sheriff and had to resign from the Beaufort County Republican Executive Committee for party disloyalty as a result. Waters and Armstrong are two peas in a leftwing pod. No wonder they are buddying up. With "Republicans" like Waters and Armstrong, who even needs Democrats?

Another warmed over Democrat masquerading as a "Republican". We have seen this movie before - Frankie Waters, Randy Walker, Carolyn Walker - we know how it ends. These people remain Democrats on the inside while pretending on the outside to be Republicans. The Republican Party does not need what this Monica Davis is selling. That Armstrong dude who had a history as a big Marc Basnight Democrat in Hyde County is another example. No thank you!

The attacks against Ms. Davis were organized by Cheeseman, who does not like independent thinkers on the school board. He prefers puppets like Carolyn Walker. Those attacks do not represent the public.

Frankie Waters had to resign from the county Republican Executive Committee for party disloyalty when he made a financial contribution to the Democrat nominee for sheriff in the 2022 general election. Frankie has always been a fake Republican and a closet Democrat. His alignments on the county commission also show that. Waters fits right in with the Phil Berger special interest mafia in our state.

Jack Smith and James Boasberg are both threats to democracy and need to be prosecuted for what they have done. Their actions remind one of the Stalin Show Trials.

Commented on As the screws turn

Didn't Randy and Carolyn Walker abandon their local church to stay United Methodists? I guess that puts them on the same political wavelength as this "Lib".

This is nothing but a conspiracy to steal from the taxpayers. All of those involved need to be taken to court either criminally or civilly or both. The only "political behaviors" that align with this city manager are Tammany Hall politics and he does not want to work for honest leaders. Screw him and the horse he rode in on. Who on the current corrupt city council voted for this travesty? IN times past, they would probably have been tarred and feathered and riden out of town on a rail.

Having talked to some sources in Hyde County, where the Berger recruit against Kidwell is from, I am told that when he was in Hyde County, Berger's recruit was a big time Marc Basnight Democrat. Since he has come to Beaufort County, he seems to have re-registered "Republican" but has anybody EVER seen him at any type of Republican meeting or event? He appears to have the same sort of background as Frankie Waters or Randy Walker. We have seen this movie before and we know how it ends.

Jimmy Dixon, the eastern NC "heavy" for Berger who is identified as recruiting the Berger candidates in the east is as big a piece of work as Berger himself. Dixon has a reputation of being a waterboy for the special interests and doesn't care who he screws in the process of doing their crooked bidding. Two things he tried to do for the special interests in the last session of the legislature that went against his own occupation as a farmer are good examples.

Dixon unsuccessfully pushed legislation to stop lawsuits against big out of state chemical companies which knowingly put cancer causing chemicals in products used by NC farmers. This bill would have prevented those NC farmers who got cancer from these products from suing the big out of state chemical companies for their injury.

Then Dixon tried to put farmers who supply raw milk out of business. Quite a few health conscience people swear by raw milk, and Dixon's legislation would have made it unavailable to them and shut down the farmers who supply it.

Even as a farmer himself, Dixon was willing to screw farmers to carry water for somebody, undoubtedly for some reward. Kidwell was one of the conservatives who helped stop these bad pieces of legislation from Dixon.

Then of course, Dixon was also on the liberal side of the big issues where Berger helped Roy Cooper and the Democrats - allowing boys in the girls restrooms (repeal of HB2), NC Green New Deal (HB951), and Obamacare Medicaid expansion.

Recruitment or endorsement by Jimmy Dixon should be the kiss of death among conservative voters for any candidate, just like an endorsement by Nancy Pelosi would be.

Phil Berger is the worst of the worst among RINOs in NC, little more than a shill for the special interests and the Democrats. Berger was the main driver in passing Roy Cooper's top agenda items through our "Republican" legislature. Real Republicans don't need ANYTHING or anybody that Phil Berger is selling. Jimmy Dixon is just Berger's pathetic little flunky in the NC House and a sworn enemy of gun rights.

It is not surprising that leftwing Google conspired with the UN to suppress information that was inconvenient for the UN's CO2 climate cult. Google's searches have long been known to be politically rigged. It is a very dishonest search engine filled with political manipulation. Conservatives should avoid Google and use one of the more honest search engines like DuckDuckGo. BraveSearch, or even Bing. Google is the absolute worst.

Considering that Whatley has a good bit higher name recognition at this point, those poll numbers are much more impressive for Brown than for Whatley.

Befuddled, the staff has way too much power in local government, be it the city council, the county commission, or the school board. A big part of the problem is the lazy and ineffective elected officials who let them do it. Hopefully we now have a city council that will crack the whip, or even better get a new city manager. On the county commission, we have four puppets of the county manager letting him do as he pleases. The situation is the same with the school board majority and the imperial superintendent.

With the legislature, the problem is a bit different. It is too much reliance on special interest lobbyists and, even worse, being a puppet to legislative leadership. Kidwell does not have either of those problems, and our local state senator is impressing me more and more on that score as well.

In Congress, it is the same problem with the establishment leadership and the special interest lobbyists. Greg Murphy promised to join the conservative Freedom Caucus when he got to DC and stand up to the leadership but instead almost immediately started brown nosing the leadership. I am happy we are shifting to the 1st district, where the likely new Congressman will be State Senator Bobby Hanig who has never been a yes-man to Phil Berger but stood his ground for his constituents and for principle. He will make an excellent congressman. Hanig's latest success for his constituents was being the key figure in blowing up Phil Berger's attempt to put our commercial fishermen out of business.

That Forest woman was a piece of work, vice chairman of the local party and headquarters manager but she regularly badmouthed conservative candidates right there in the headquarters. I had heard that she was gone but somebody saw her at the GOP tent at early elections. So, has she turned up again, like a bad penny?

Dan Bishop is a solid conservative and a fighter. I wish he had stuck to his original plan and run for Tillis' US Senate seat this year, instead of letting himself get talked into the Attorney General race by Phil Berger. Bishop would have been a far better candidate and a far better senator than Whatley. Unlike Whatley, Bishop would have likely whipped Cooper in the general election.

The insiders are indeed trying to rig the game on our nominees. The best way to spell loser is W-H-A-T-L-E-Y. We need to keep this seat and to do it we need a nominee that is something other than a warmed over Tillis. At least we have someone else to vote for in that one. It does not look like we will on the Supreme Court seat, and we desperately need a nominee who is stronger than the one the insiders want to foist upon us.

The new city council needs to remember that the city manager is their employee, NOT their boss. If he gets too big for his britches, send him packing. We have too many arrogant bureaucrats in local government in our county, anyway. It is high time to start replacing some of them. What a great election result. We now have council members who understand how business actually works and the impact excessive taxes have on real people.

Since NYC has gone communist, maybe we should just cede it to the UN, which has its headquarters there and let them run it. Build a wall around it and have a secure border with the place. Without NYC, the rest of the state would probably vote Republican. Let the UN have this hellhole. With a communist government, we should not want it.

Whatley is Tillis 2.0, and North Carolina does NOT need that! All the establishment money in the world cannot buy him the respect of conservative voters. If he is at the top of the ticket, it will be poison for Republicans farther down the ballot. NEVER WHATLEY
