And that brings up another feature of extremism. Extremists tend to source their information from those they agree with. In reality, every story has 3 sides, the left, the right and the truth. Extremists aren't interested in the truth. They tend to simplify an issue leaving out the very real complexities we all face in life.
Example: CV points out that Americans are with conservatives on illegal immigration. On one hand that appears true, however when Americans see citizens in Minnesota being shot in the street, kids torn from their parents, and masked gunmen patrolling their neighborhoods, support for this activity drops. Extremists want you to believe life is black and white. Everyone reading this knows that isn't true.

Your worried cause you just make it up. Both parties have their extremists. The BO is a far right-wing publication that 80% of the country would be at odds with. The democrats have their version of it on the far left.
Both sides make up stuff about each other to appear normal. Extremists are not the norm, hence why we call them extremist. Maybe we should be working together to solve our common problems.

Commented on A Letter to My Time CapsuleTwo interesting developments:
The U.S. war in Iran has depleted stocks of key air defense weapons, including ballistic missile interceptors -- a potential constraint for President Donald Trump as he weighs the prospect of renewing the conflict. A U.S. official, who would not discuss numerical estimates, told ABC News that both stockpiles "are extremely low." John Ratcliffe (CIA) flies to Russia to tell them not to attack NATO. Looks like our 4F commander in chief is ...is um...in over his head.

In the last 3 presidential election cycles the republican won twice, the democrat one once. In fact, if you look at the recent history of presidential elections it's a pretty even split.
Kennedy, Nixon, Carter, Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Obama, Trump, Biden Trump. The notion of institutional cheating just doesn't hold water. Considering the current president has the emotional intelligence of a 12-year-old and has only been told "no" once in his life (2020); might that have something to do with so called election fraud?

Read my post carefully...extremist on both sides. Anyone wanting communism in the US is an extremist. I would not vote for them. However, they are allowed to make their pitch as we are allowed to reject it at the ballot box.
I understand some of you are still butthurt over the GF murder. The reaction scared you. But it needed to happen. Left or right, the police do not get a pass for murdering citizens in the street. (J6 - A. Babbitt doesn't count because she was not in the street, but unlawfully rioting in the capitol building)

That's disingenuous Stan.
The left stands against authoritarianism and fascism and believes we all have the same rights and responsibilities. However, I will say, neither the far right nor far left can run the country well. Both make good points now and again, but neither can govern effectively. If Trump applies pressure to cancel or disrupt the states from holding elections, the country will burn down. Both sides will suffer greatly. I hope there are enough current leaders to stand up and let the people speak at the polls, regardless of the outcome.

That is true, however I think it’s a real possibility. Plans are in the works. Options being discussed. J6 caught most by surprise. It will look different this time but goal is the same. Retain power against the will of the voter.

I wouldn't lump everyone together. In America ,there is plenty of violence to go around. Armed by republican gun laws we can easily point to either side. Subtract out the lunatics, we see that people on the left fight for justice. On the right, white supremacy.

Honestly, I dont think the mid terms are gonna happen on schedule. I think trump, seeing the hand writing on the wall, will declare an "emergency" and keep republicans in power against the will of the people.
Id say its 50/50 right now. If it happens the contrry will burn down but I dont think he cares. Its about him, not us.

Commented on Florida public schools curriculum will require instruction on the history and evils of communismAs usual, Henry, is completely unencumbered by the thought process. The current reaction at the polls by progressive democrats is in response to the oligarchs living large at our expense. Trump makes 2 billion last year while:
inflation housing social security health care medicare endless Middle East war Food born illness public health ..get zero attention. The super rich got tax cuts while the rest of us wait 4-6 months for a doctor appointment then fight with the insurance company over payment. The Hen lives a good life, but is rather predictable.

Citizens use copious amounts of drugs funding cartels. Citizens and companies sell weapons to the cartels fueling illegal immigration ass people flee. Commented on Democrat National Committee passes resolution to abolish ICE, give amnesty to illegal aliensThat might be the intention, but Minnesota showed how far this administration is willing to go. Fortunately, the push back was so strong it made a lot of people stop and think. ICE backed off and I suspect the midterms will determine their tactics over the next 2 years.
Deporting criminals is something we can all support. Shooting American citizens in the face is another.

Commented on Democrat National Committee passes resolution to abolish ICE, give amnesty to illegal aliensIt's a bit more complex than that. ICE is basically an untrained, masked secret police force, accountable to no one.
That has to end. My advice, both sides will have to find a way to meet in the middle.

Commented on India follows Trump's lead in rejecting the globalist climate crusade and "green energy"Again, we learn in 3rd grade that the earth, over time, warms and cools. No question. In high school we learn that since the industrial revolution humans began burning fossil fuels at an unprecedented rate. On planet earth 49 million barrels of oil are combusted per day. Everyday. Let that sink in.
Your notion that humans can burn this much fuel in a closed system without consequence is...misguided. And that is the flaw in your argument. You want to conclude the earth's heating and cooling is a natural cycle, it is, but you refuse to factor the obvious variables impacting the system. Don't feel bad, it happens all the time and is why the scientific method is more of a verb than a noun. it evolves as we get better at factoring in the variables.

From throwing a sandwich at the ICE officer to the 86-47 written in seashells to the reflecting pool damage caused by a no-bid contract and the all-important transgender issues which effect almost no one, this is all designed to make sure you don't notice the Northern Hemisphere is on fire, measles and explosive diarrhea are raging and after 10 year of MAGA government, we still have a sh!tty health care system, an out-of-control deficit, high prices and another endless war in the middle east. Don't get me started on Medicare and social security. By his own admission, the president earned 2 billion last year and is immune from the IRS. Let those facts sink in. Dr. F is the least of our problems.

You are wrong. C02 is a greenhouse gas. Pure fact. As for the rest of your argument:
Conditions on earth 40 million years ago were indeed very different than today. However, life on earth as we know it has developed during a long period of relative stability. That stability is being altered at an incredibly (in geologic terms) fast pace. The industrial revolution has warmed the earth. The natural heat sinks, forests & oceans, have absorbed all they can. Changes will accelerate. Humans will argue over our response to this phenomenon. My contention is that ignoring it for short term profit is the worst possible response and the most politically risky for any government. The second worst response is to blame Canada. (Ever wonder why these a-holes want to annex Canada and Greenland? Exploitation sure. But in addition, they see what's coming and know it's best not to tell you.)

CT- it is science. Simple science. Unfortunately, life on earth is a bit more complex than that 3rd grade lesson
By 7th grade we learn that there is a balance associated with the systems that sustain us. Ever heard the phrase "too much of anything isn't good"? It applies to this discussion. It's true, many species of plants can survive in in hotter climates with higher concentrations of C02 in the atmosphere, but life is a balancing act and human intervention has consequences. Burning fossil fuels at the current rate has the whole planet out of whack. It shows up in a variety of ways. Most noticeable are triple digit temps, wildfire (smoke) and changing weather patterns. There are countless more. Look, no one is going to die tomorrow but we as humans are in uncharted territory. Not sure I want to be guided by those offering up 3rd grade science lessons. If MAGA wants to stay relevant, they better get educated on the topic or voters will turn on them. Stupid is just not good policy.

If conservatives want to stay in power, like all elected officials do, they have to meet certain basic needs of their constituents. Some of those needs are economic such as affordability, jobs etc. but some are environmental. If the government can't deliver clean water, food and air, the public will demand change.
As summer temps soar, air quality degrades and fresh water is in short supply the public will take it out on someone. If MAGA wants to remain relevant, I would think addressing our shared environmental problems would be in their interest. Dig in all you want, but it just shortens the time the rest of us will put up with a party that fails to meet the basic needs of its citizens. Time will tell.
