Cutting off one's nose to spite one's own face" is an expression used to describe a needlessly self-destructive overreaction. To do someone that is meant to harm someone else but also harms the person who does it. Don't cut off your nose to spite your own face" is a warning against acting out of pique, or against pursuing revenge in a way that would damage oneself more than the object of one's anger.
There are some Republicans seeking to cast a revenge vote and now going to vote on the democrat ticket because their candidate lost in the primary. Now casting a vote for a candidate of the party of Biden, Pelosi , Schumer, Roy Cooper and our local democrat leaders out of revenge. You know no matter who loses as those in the primary, whether it be Rogerson or Hammonds their lives will continue on as ours will. To cast a revenge vote is “cutting off your nose to spite your own face”. Revenge is sweet they say for only a short time while the consequences will effect us for years. |

I would like to comment on one of the questions in this poll regarding HB 370.
Speaking of left wing dreams we have a sheriff of Beaufort County that said on Fox News it’s a sheriffs right to hold or not hold a criminal illegal for ICE. He guesses they the sheriffs are doing what’s in their heart he said. I say A sheriff’s right over the safety and welfare of the citizens of this county, our state, our country they are to serve and protect?? Isn’t that in direct contrast on what Trump is doing? Absolutely!! Trump called out Cooper for vetoing the bill and our sheriff saying it’s a sheriffs right! What is going on here? Side note- as of now holding criminal illegals for ICE is a request to the sheriffs- the N.C. state representatives voted and passed a bill called HB 370 requiring sheriffs to hold criminal illegals for ICE and not release them back on the streets and in our counties. The democrat governor vetoed it. And this was our sheriffs response. He didn’t stand against Cooper vetoing the bill instead he said its a sheriffs right to not hold them. It’s on Fox News video. You can look it up! Unbelievable and wrong!!! And might I add as long as this is only a request let’s say a criminal illegal is released back on the street by a sheriff that saids he will work with ICE although just a request and he releases a criminal illegal back on the street that commits another crime perhaps of a violent nature. The sheriff can then say well it was only a request and he slipped through by accident. I didn’t have to hold them. It’s not a thou shalt it’s only a request!! A sheriffs right over the safety of the citizens of our county. Need I say more? Something is not right!!! |

It is absolutely absurd that the county would spend 50 million dollars without a Long Range Facility Plan that includes various alternatives the board could consider, including revisions in the student assignment patterns...such as PreK-5 neighborhood schools in Washington. Such planning should/would include the impact of the proposed Interstate connector from the Greenville By-pass (read ECU medical district) and the new Fred Smith proposed subdivision. What we are getting from Cheeseman is a planning model that is 50 years out of date NOW. The people have spoken...there is a new majority on the School Board but still three members control the planning. Actually two members, one of whom is not elected (superintendent). That is absurd. A solid Long Range Plan would save more than it cost. At a minimum the Board should debate the utility of mega elementary schools that depend on cross-town busing. More absudity! Where is the new majority on the School Board?

It is our understanding that a meeting of the Board of Education was held recently in which more than a majority of board members was present and the topic of the meeting was, inter alia, a discussion of campaign material used by board candidate Stacy Davis that led to a letter being sent to Ms. Davis. Please accept this as a formal request for: A copy of the minutes of that meeting A copy of the Notice of Meeting (none was received by the Beaufort Observer despite the fact that we have made a previous request to receive all media notices.) A statement of why the media was not notified of the meeting as required by law. A copy of any correspondence originating from the meeting, specifically any correspondence to Ms. Davis concerning her campaign for a Board of Education seat (District 5). Commented On Community rallies behind keeping Snowden open
Is this correct? No white students attend Snowden? Are there no white or Hispanic students living in Richland Township? That does not appear to be possible. Why does not this Superintendent find those kids and determine why they are not enrolled in BCS? Are we to conclude that there are "no white people/students" living in Richland Township/Aurora? How many white students from Richland Township attend school in Pamlico County? If that is true, the Superintendent needs to determine why white students have fled from Snowden.

It is not just liberals who want to see Romney's tax returns. It is 63% of American voters who do. The longer Mr. Romney delays, the more suspicious it appears. Mr. Hickman, I believe completely in what I wrote. I believe we are in danger of losing our once well-intentioned country to a growing group of racist Marxists. And you are right, as I pointed out... what is at stake is the loss of our Constitution, our Bill of Rights, and our Declaration of Independence. How many times have you heard Democrats (AOC and even Pelosi) say things like "We've outgrown the Constitution"? OR "The Constitution is racist"? OR "The Constitution is meaningless for these times"? These demons mean business and they won't rest until all our founding institutions, such as the Church, family, education, morality, the grand notions of work and work ethic, unity of Americans, love of country, and the essential principle of personal responsibility, are abolished, destroyed, or undermined. Personal responsibility, the family, and work ethic have already been replaced by the enlargement of social welfare services and government healthcare. The Church has already been replaced by the God who supports abortions, hatred, riots, violence, and property damage, and education has been replaced by Critical Race Theory and other racist and divisive ideologies (Education has been replaced by indoctrination). Unity and love of country has been replaced by racism (intentionally resurrected by the Democrats for political and agenda purposes. These left-wing hijackers are using the very freedoms articulated and secured for us by our Founding Fathers (in the Declaration, the Bill of Rights, and the Constitution) to destroy those very rights. If they succeed in destroying our founding documents, then guess what? They destroy the very foundation of the American states and the American union. It will no longer be assumed that individuals have inalienable rights and other essential liberty and civil rights. And that will be the day the government truly and completely (and tyrannically) controls and subjugates us. Patrick Henry said something similar in his "Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death" speech in Richmond back in 1775. (Everyone should read it in its entirety!) The sad thing is that the left are too stupid and too detached from reality to comprehend the consequences of their actions. Thanks again, Charles.

They need to give state employees a COLA. Five days off - paid is all we're getting. How is that going to help pay bills? We're about tired of bonus days...we need money for the ever increasing gas, grocery shopping, increase in monthly bills.

Would you consider this to concern your "local folk"? A street in Washington, middle of town. Within 6 MONTHS time the following has happened: a murder, two break ins; two drug raids; two houses that can't keep occupants because of drug dealers...and one drug dealer arrested for selling cocaine within a certain distance of a school....that said drug dealer's girlfriend being pulled on hwy 264 with coke in the car ready to sell. Doesn't get any more "local folk" than that. And one of those arrested has several "Priors"...yet he's free to sell drugs to school kids. It concerns me.

Take a good look around Washington. Get out and ride down the streets in the center of town. Get out and walk on those streets. Places that were once safe places to live are now inhabited by drug dealers, shootings/murders, break-ins (on the SAME road all within 6 months). Everyone turns a blind eye to it. Washington to NOT safe. Sure, the drug dealers MAY be arrested, but they're turned loose and put on "probation"....yet, they are still dealing the drugs. They go right back home and start dealing the same day they get back home. In one neighborhood, there has been a murder, three drug raids, and two houses that can't keep occupants due to drug dealings, and TWO break ins that have been called into WPD. It's a shame when the WPD tells you that they "can't guarantee someone can do a drive by" when it's a single female living in the middle of all this. So, if that's not affecting the "local folks", I don't know what is.

Commissioner Deathrage: I will be pleased to provide the County Commission with our policy and procedure for Beaufort Promise, which specifically state that no Beaufort County funds may be used to fund tuition and fees or cost of attendance for non-citizens of the US. I need to gain approval of the documents by the Board of Trustees first. Also, it would be impossible for a non-citizen to obtain County funds, since doing so requires completion of the FAFSA, which requires identification of citizenship status. —DL
