Truly he was a very great talent on loan from God. Probably my favorite song by Glen was "Break My Mind." By saying favorite that does not discount any of this great body of work. Like others, Glen went off the tracks for a while and then returned and shared his great work and personality. His smile could match his music. Blue skies forever Glen Campbell.

Stan, no doubt that he may be the right man at the right time. His actions are much more important than some of his outburst. Even a child or adolescent who is an outstanding student, athlete or does some heroic deed still needs responsible guidance. Our president just needs to act up to his potential. I wish him great success in his quest to restore America.

Funny how when we see something like: "must read, official, required, authorized," and more that we are automatically programmed to believe it has some legitimacy and we should pay some attention to it even if ever so briefly. (Wow, that was a long sentence. I need an authorized proof reader.)

Is the school money actually free money? Anything too good to be true usually is. Besides, the $10.5 million + the $500,000 what are these schools actually costing? Who decided three schools should be shutdown in one year? Shouldn’t a needs - based grant mean schools needs are met first; Not shut down? Who made the assessment? Why are three schools being shut down and an entire community ghosted. I didn’t move here for blue swings on playgrounds. I would like a free home, too. How in the world have the voters been ok with spouses on different boards? Craziness! Is Aurora being flushed out? I can’t imagine how an entire community feels after being treated this way. Has anyone at all price - compared the square foot of a school being built in this capacity after the selling point of the superintendent stated population would continue to decline? Where is the money going and why isn’t it being followed? Please visit documents/schoolplanning/school-costs-project/download on NCDPI site

More large multinational companies over talented tradesmen and manufacturing coming to a small town near you very soon. The quiet takeover funneled into the flow of ideas, images, and symbols, including state ideologies and counter-ideologies still on the US dime. Everyone is wanting to be smarter, but ends up too stupid to see it.

So excited about this great news. I am curious what place did Solar and Wind play in the economic growth of our economy since 2011? It is my understanding that 1 billion in tax credits which result in tax dollars heavily reimbursing solar and wind industry projects is money going out with not much ROI for the state. It would seem that this would cause a little drag on the economy because tax dollars were applied to a technology that is not as efficient as we were led to believe. The windmills outside Pasquotank and Perquimons Counties are only producing 75% of the energy that was first estimated. Meanwhile electric bills are increasing to subsidize the Power companies complicated system to manage the grid with solar/wind tied into it. Higher electric bills is going to increase both business and family expenses. Has anyone factored in what would have happened in our economy if this was not present, as well as the impact, if any, to future growth due to the solar/wind industry factor? Supposedly Germany is suffering from the burden economically of having invested heavily into renewables creating a burden on business and families power bills escalating, thus resulting in an exodus from their country. California is also supposedly suffering from similar renewable energy unforeseen negative impact which may have heavily contributed to the bankrupt financial system in that state. Just want to know what is being done to ensure we don't over invest in renewable energy initiatives and state mandated requirements that could drive up costs even further than the most recent increase, which was sizeable?

Read this article to refresh your memory about who Steinburg told us he would do. Instead we have spent 1 billion dollars on Renewable energy, our electric bills are higher and the property taxes for the renewables was reduce to 20% due to an 80% tax discount. All the jobs created were temporary. Solar and Wind is not efficient and has caused other countries who invested heavy into this Ponzi scheme to face their music with the real results....citizens and jobs leaving due to the excessive electric bills and drain on economy. Blessings and I hope this helps people in their search when considering whether we want to continue having Bob Steinburg represent us here in North East North Carolina. His opponent, Clark Twiddy was raised here in North Carolina, VMI Graduate and Naval Intel Officer for 9 years. Twiddy Reality is the a family business which employs over 170 employees. I encourage everyone to meet Mr. Twiddy in person. He is polite, composed while under fire, a gentleman, father, husband, concerned citizen and a Christian. He holds dear conservative values and wishes to take those to Raleigh as our Senator for District 1. God Bless

Larry was one of the most skilled guys that I've ever known. He could do anything. My Dad (Clyde Sutton) thought that there was nothing like Larry Linton. I wasn't around Larry that long, but he made such a huge impression on me. My thoughts and prayers are with the family.

First, let me acknowledge that the roles of County Commissioners and School Board Members are not easy. When done well, these positions require dedication, thoughtful decision-making, and hard work. Thank you to all who serve and help keep the county functioning as smoothly as possible.

That said, there is a quadrant of this county, the third largest of six townships and the fourth most populated, that is the source of the most local income and tax revenue and includes multiple communities and an incorporated town, that is now functioning worse from the decision of the School Board. This area and its school district are now destabilized. The elementary school and the people it served were not considered important enough for elected officials to explore reasonable alternatives before removing the school from an entire township community.

Consolidation has been ongoing for over a century. For the first 50 years, and during the 60s and 70s desegregation, it made sense. But as it has become more centralized, it increasingly fails to serve the unique needs of local elementary aged children, especially in remote communities like Aurora when viewed through the lens of child well being. Despite the education and experience among Board Members, the emphasis was less on children than on balancing the county’s overall education budget at the expense of one of its most underserved and remote school populations. Instead of lobbying for more resources to meet the actual needs, the Board chose to close the least visible school.

We’re hearing from families now forced to relocate, change jobs, or cancel their plans to move into the area. Others, who just moved here before the closure decision, are scrambling to figure out how to manage their children’s schooling and their family’s stability. Busing small children for long hours each day should have been reason enough to reconsider. But the impact goes beyond logistics; this decision is dismantling a community one family at a time.

Had proper impact studies been conducted, as required by state policy, the Board would have likely seen this coming. But for most Board members, this isn’t your district, and these aren’t your families being affected. While I don’t believe the decision was made with malice, I do believe that if this were your children, your school, and your community on the line, you and others would have made a different choice.

Hood, your view on the new NCGOP Plan of Organization is very different from most NC conservatives.

A few weeks before the NCGOP state convention, I was one of five panelists on the subject of the then proposed new Plan at a statewide meeting of the Conservative Coalition of North Carolina (CCNC). Two panelists supported the Plan, with reservations> Three of us felt the concerns outweighed any benefits. After the panel, the CCNC as a body voted unanimously to oppose the new proposed Plan and circulate flyers on its flaws.

Generally, the new Plan of Organization continues to increase the top-down control of the party at the expense of the influence of the grassroots.

Some of the objections were:

- Until now, there has always been at least one path to offer Plan amendments from the convention floor and pass them by simple majority. Now that has been raised to 2/3rds and only then after first submitting the amendment 15 days in advance to the Plan of Organization Committee.

- the Arbitration Committee is no longer objectively established but instead is personally handpicked by the state chairman for each case.

- Until now, party chairmen at all levels have had "general supervision of the party with the advice and consent of the executive committee". The new Plan removes the language on the the advice and consent of the executive committee.-

- until now, the Plan has had roles for various party committees in legislative candidate recruitment. Those are all removed in the new Plan. This comes as legislative leadership, which historically has not been that conservative has been working to assert itself as the source of legislative candidate recruitment instead of the party structure doing it. Party activists tend to look for candidates who will represent local interests and conservative principles, while the legislative leadership is looking for yes-men who will do what they are told.

- it makes amendments to the Platform and to the Resolutions report much more difficult. These can no longer be offered from the convention floor unless submitted 15 days in advance to the committee (and the party these days has not even been offering contact information on committee leaders). Most delegates have not even read those reports by that time, so they are denied an opportunity to participate. The new Plan also requires a 2/3rd vote to change anything the committees have done, compared to a simple majority vote now.

There is lots more. I have been attending state GOP conventions since 1973 and served on the state Plan of Organization Committee myself five times, chairing it twice, and this ranks as the worst proposed Plan I have ever seen, even worse than last year's failed Plan.

As to the Victory Committee, the local Republican Party has had something like it for a long time. When I was county GOP chairman in the 1980s, we called it the Campaign Committee. These committees operate to support all Republican candidates at General Election time and do not get involved in primaries.

This is an absolutely shameful act by Josh Stein, and an insult both to the state of North Carolina and to the United States. We need to kick this anti-American clown out of office in 2028.

It is inconceivable to me that our local governments do not seek applicants for top management positions from the private sector. When I served in the Jim Martin administration in state government, almost all of our top management personal got their management experience in the private sector, NOT the public sector, and it worked fine. The bigger the pool of applicants for a local management job, the more choices the governing body has.
