Press Release:

Come join Tayloe's Hospital Pharmacy and Washington Harbor District Alliance as we turn Main Street, between Gladden and Market, into an outdoor music festival!

Enjoy the bluesy sounds of Red Squier and the Blues Band in front of Grub Brothers, kick back and listen to classic rock with The Southerner's Band next to Coldwell Banker Coastal Rivers Realty, get down with some bluegrass, as provided by Dry Creek Bluegrass Band next to Big Bargain Furniture or enjoy some New Orleans style Dixieland jazz with The Riverboat Jazz Band hosted by the Bank Bistro & Bar.

Shop at the local merchants or dine at one of Washington's great eateries! Did you ever want a tattoo? Well, try it out with a short-lived one at The Mad Tatter's Temporary Tattoos who will be by Washington Jewelers. Come support Angels N Camo, as they raise money to help kids fulfill hunting and fishing dreams. They'll be selling merchandise and will also have a raffle near Nauti Life. The Salvation Army will be here too, with 'Kettles on Parade', a community art project. Buy a kettle, decorate it and who knows, you might win the prize when the contest is over in December. They will be next to The Meeting Place Restaurant. How about a sailboat ride on the beautiful Pamlico River? The Little Washington Sailing School will be offering them, sign up in front of Ruth's House Antiques & More.

Or you can just wander Main Street and enjoy the festive atmosphere! Be sure to stop in one of our newest shops, The Southern Nest. Owner Elaine Taylor offers really interesting vintage finds at 133 W. Main Street. If you want a cool drink, the Humane Society of Beaufort County will be manning the Pepsi Cart. Washington Harbor District Alliance puts on the event but couldn't do it without the support of local businesses like First South Bank, Potash Corp, Lee Chevrolet Buick, Coldwell Banker Coastal Rivers Realty, the Washington Daily News, Bud Light, On the Waterfront Restaurant, and Zaxby's of Washington who are the corporate sponsors of all the events WHDA offers during the year.

The Music In The Streets footprint has changed from years' past. Market Street is now open for vehicular traffic, which will facilitate parking either on Stewart Parkway or 2nd Street where you can easily reach your dining destination during the event. Mark your calendar for the third Friday in September when the antique cars will be back during a special celebration of 'Flashback Friday'.

    C'mon out – we're going to have a great time! Friday, June 20, 2014 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm.
