      Thursday, January 1, 2015       First Day Hike – Huckleberry and Live Oak Trail Hike       2:00 pm

    Celebrate the New Year with a short, half-mile hike through Goose Creek’s pine forest and along the Pamlico River. Meet in the last parking lot.

      Saturday, January 10, 2015       Palmetto Boardwalk Hike       10:00 am

    Go for an easy one-mile hike down the boardwalk that crosses two types of wetland habitats and learn about the plants and animals living in this unique location. Meet at the visitor center.

      Saturday, January 11, 2015       Totally Turtles       2:00 pm

    Eastern North Carolina is loaded with some amazing reptiles. One of the most common types of reptiles seen are our turtles. Meet at the park visitor center to learn about these amazing creatures. There will be some live turtles for viewing and identification during the program.

      Thursday, January 22, 2015       Flatty Creek Hike       2:00 pm

    Come out for a short hike down to the water at Flatty Creek where we’ll have an amazing view of the marsh and river. While we’re hiking we’ll discuss some of the ecology of that particular area of the park and how it has changed over time. Meet at the Goose Creek Trail parking lot at the entrance to the campground.

      Saturday, January 24, 2015       Discovery Room       2:00 pm

    Bring the kids to check out our taxidermy mounts in the Discovery Room and learn about the animals that call Goose Creek home. Meet at the visitor center.

We cherish too, the Poppy red that grows on fields where valor led, it seems to signal to the skies that blood of heroes never dies.
RALEIGH: Today, Governor Roy Cooper and North Carolina Department of Natural and Cultural Resources (NCDNCR) Secretary Reid Wilson celebrated Earth Day by visiting Goose Creek State Park in Washington.
Washington, N.C. – The inaugural Rivers East Advanced Manufacturing Academy took place at Pitt Community College on Friday, September 23rd.
Please join us at the park visitor center on Saturday, October 8th from 3-5 pm where we will host a Halloween Wildlife Event.
