Administrator Openings Filled at Area Schools | Eastern North Carolina Now

    Marquez Jackson, the current assistant principal at Southside High School, has been named the new principal of Northeast Elementary School.

    Jackson, who has been in education since 2005, joined Beaufort County Schools as a math teacher at Washington High School in 2006. He thenjoined the Southside High School administrative team in 2008.

    Jackson follows Charles Clark, who took the reins at Northside High School last month.

    Jennifer Cornelius, a social studies teacher at Northside High School, has been approved as the new assistant principal for the school. Cornelius came to Beaufort County Schools from Hyde County in 1996. After one year at P.S. Jones Middle School as a social studies teacher, Cornelius joined the Northside High School faculty.

    "There is something very exciting about being able to promote administrators from within," according to Dr. Don Phipps, Superintendent of Beaufort County Schools. "It is a great comfort to know we have such talented people already in the system that want to advance and remain in our county."

    Jackson will officially make the move to Northeast Elementary School on December 14. Cornelius will assume her new role at Northside High School on January 24, 2012.
