WATCH: Trump RIPS 'Scum on Top' Of FBI After Brutal DOJ Inspector General Report | Eastern North Carolina Now

Publisher's note: This informational nugget was sent to me by Ben Shapiro, who represents the Daily Wire, and since this is one of the most topical news events, it should be published on BCN.

On Friday, President Trump walked down to the White House lawn for an impromptu interview with Fox & Friends. There, he lambasted the FBI in the wake of a damning Department of Justice Inspector General report.

TRUMP: I said on the Department of Justice, I would stay uninvolved. Now I may get involved at some point. (He also calls the top of the FBI "scum.")

Asked by Steve Doocy about the texts between anti-Trump FBI agents who ripped Trump supporters, Trump called them "vicious," and added, "I have the greatest supporters in the world, they're the smartest, they're the hardest-working, they pay taxes, they're incredible, they're loyal, I have the bikers, I have the construction workers, I have them all. By the way, I have them in the FBI. You go into the FBI and take a poll of the real FBI, not the scum on top, not Comey and that group of total thieves ..."

Trump then stated he didn't understand how Peter Strzok, the FBI agent who said he would "stop" Trump's presidency in texts with his paramour, was still working at the FBI. Trump went on to say that he believed that the DOJ IG report had "exonerated" him:

WATCH: President Trump is speaking to reporters outside of the White House

"I think the report yesterday, maybe more importantly than anything, totally exonerates me. There was no collusion. There was no obstruction,"

The report had nothing to do with the Trump investigation itself. But perhaps Trump meant that the report's criticisms of Strzok suggested that the investigation itself had been tainted. That much, at least, is true - Strzok's suggestion that the Mueller investigation was "unfinished business" lends credibility to the idea that he, at least, saw the Russia investigation as a tool for ousting Trump.
