An arrest in Stuttgart, Germany for drug trafficking turned into a fierce battle between police and hundreds of Muslim migrants, who went on a destructive rampage. About 40 stores were vandalized or looted as rioters attacked police with rocks and bottles in the city's worst ever riots. Shouts of "Allahy Akbar" are clearly heard in media videotapes of the rioters. 19 police officers were injured and 12 police cars damaged. Paramedics who rushed to the scene to treat the injured were also attacked.

Hans-Jürgen Kirstein, the head of the police union, told German newspaper Bild that "young people with a migration background were at the front of the riots".
