News Release:

In case you missed it, the Raleigh News & Observer reported that North Carolina is experiencing unprecedented police shortages. Chief John C. Tippett of the Scotland Neck Police Department says " Ain't nobody beatin' the doors down to be the 'PO-lice' this day and time," and the reason for the officer shortage can be attributed to "the nation's current view on law enforcement is not too good right now, owing to events across the country."

Democrats are forcing more officers to leave the force through their defund the police stances. Democrat Senate candidates Jeff Jackson and Cheri Beasley and House of Representatives candidates G.K. Butterfield and Deborah Ross want to make it easier to sue law enforcement for doing their job, further disincentivizing citizens to join law enforcement. Beasley has even teamed up with Defund-the-Police Democrat Cori Bush who would deny law enforcement the resources they need all while police officers around the country have called for more police to address the shortage in their departments.

The drop in police officers comes at the same time as North Carolina's violent crime rate spikes higher than the national average . Last year, over 44,000 violent crimes were reported in North Carolina. Rather than fixing the spike in crime, Democrats are doubling down on their weak-on-crime agenda. It's no wonder that almost two-thirds of North Carolinians believe the country is "on the wrong track."

"As North Carolina experiences a police officer shortage and crime skyrockets across the state, it's clear that Democrats like Jackson, Beasley, Butterfield and Ross are incapable of keeping us safe. November 2022 will be a recall on all Democrats who continue to put special interests ahead of the safety of our communities."- RNC Spokeswoman Alex Nolley.
