RINO Senate leader Phil Berger endorses Democrat judge | Eastern North Carolina Now

RINO NC Senate president Phil Berger, who has been carrying water for progressive governor Roy Cooper on quite a few liberal positions, has now taken a further step off of the Republican reservation.  Phil Berger has publicly endorsed a liberal Democrat judge who has a strong conservative Republican opponent.

Superior Court Judge Ed Wilson, who Berger has endorsed is a former staffer for very liberal US Senator Terry Sanford and was a fellow of the far left Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation, a group that the conservative Civitas Institute called "the roots of radicalism".

Running against Wilson is conservative Republican attorney John Morris.  NC Republican state chairman Michael Whatley has campaigned with Morris.

This endorsement clearly falls under the definition of "party disloyalty" under the state Republican Plan of Organization.  Will action be taken, as it should be, to remove Berger from state party positions he holds by virtue of being Senate GOP leader?

Berger is presently Roy Cooper's spear carrier in the legislature for trying to impose the Obamacare Medicaid expansion on North Carolina, which polls show most Republican voters are opposed to, but has long been Cooper's wet dream.  Last year, Berger was Cooper's spear carrier for another far left program that Cooper wanted badly, North Carolina's Green New Deal.  Berger used some unethical power plays in the legislature to ram that through for Cooper.  Earlier, Berger was one of the key conspirators who led another major Cooper project, the repeal of NC's bathroom and locker room privacy law, HB2.

Berger seems to be North Carolina's state version of Mitch McConnell who uses a Senate leadership position to advance Democrat policy, and now even a Democrat candidate.
