    Winds

  • NE winds will begin to increase Saturday morning, becoming sustained between 10 and 20 mph through Sunday. Frequent gust of 20 to 25 mph are expected, especially during the overnight hours on Saturday.

Please see the email below from the National Weather Service for more details. We will continue to pass along information as we receive it.

    Good morning all,

For general weather awareness and planning, we are monitoring the potential development of a coastal low this weekend, with increasing confidence in impacts to portions of Eastern North Carolina.

WHAT WE KNOW: Model guidance has been trending towards a stronger weather system impacting the area this weekend.

WHAT WE DON'T KNOW: The exact track and intensity of the weather system and the magnitude of impacts.

CONFIDENCE: Confidence is increasing that a stronger weather system will impact Eastern North Carolina this weekend, with potential impacts including moderate to strong winds, heavy rainfall, minor flooding, and coastal hazards. Confidence in the development of a strong weather system is MODERATE (40-60% chance), but confidence in the magnitude of specific impacts is LOW (primarily due to the lower confidence in the track of the system).

Stay tuned for updates through the week, and as always, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.

    Regards,

    NWS Newport/Morehead City
