News Releases:

    Good Morning: Communication I

Streets have standing water in all the normal places following a heavy early morning rainfall so please allow for delays in employees arriving for work this morning.

I am going out on a limb here, but it appears the heaviest rains have already passed through Beaufort County. The center of Andrea is currently over the central coastal areas of South Carolina and yes the track did move further East and will pass over Washington between 1:00pm and 2:00pm this afternoon.

We could be experiencing Scattered Heavy Showers, with possible severe thunderstorm or an Isolated tornado the remainder of today. Please understand if you are under one of these showers they will contain localized heavy rainfall so caution should be taken when driving.

Winds will be sustained at 30mph with Gust as high as 45mph during a brief storm.

Attached is the latest briefing from the NWS for your review.

Please be aware that the Courthouse and Jail have experienced a power problem totally unrelated to Andrea. If you or your employees have business at the Courthouse today they should call before going to the Courthouse as some services may not be available until power is fully restored.

Please report to us here in the EOC any damages you might have witnessed to structures or infrastructure so I can send assessment teams to the areas.

    Thank You for the help.

For Your Information and Planning: Communicastion II

High Profile Emergency Response Vehicles should avoid the US 17 High Level Bridge during the peak winds time periods listed on the attached document if your response situation permits.

The wind speeds listed on the attached document have a two mile per hour error factor either direction. Isolated wind gust during a Severe thunder storm could exceed sixty miles per hour so once again please remain; ”Weather Aware”.

    Thank You for the help.
