Virginia Democrats' outrageous gerrymander of Congressional seats was fueled by tens of millions in dark money, much of it affiliated with the far left Soros network.  Soros is now the sugar daddy of the international far left, iin spite of having been a Nazi collaborator in his youth in World War II Hungary.  More money has been spent on trying to limit Republicans to only one seat in the 11 member Virginia congressional delegation, in spite of 48.5% of Virginians voting Republican for Congress in the last election, than was spent in the last election for governor.

Of course, the teachers unions were also caught abusing the teacher / student relationship in pushing them to lobby parents to vote for the gerrymander.

Meanwhile, the issue of the legality of the whole gerrymander process has been and still is in the courts.  A trial court has ruled that the Virginia Democrats violated their own legislative rules and also laws governing Constitutional referenda and the vote is therefore illegal.  That was appealed to the State Supreme Court by the Democrats where it currently sits.  The state Supreme Court decided against fast tracking it prior to the actual vote.

Virginia's "Dear Leader" Spanberger used the Texas redistricting as an excuse for her brazen partisan power grab.  However the Texas redistricting was a response to a ruling by the 5th Circuit US Court of Appeals ruling on racial redistricting which struck down the theory that if it was possible to draw a minority district based on multiple minorities, it had to be done.  The US Supreme Court denied the attempted appeal of that decision.  So while Texas was correcting a redistricting mistake after the courts ruled it was a mistake, what Spanberger is doing is a naked partisan power grab, and funded with dirty Soros money.

There is a case now awaiting a ruling by the US Supreme Court that is expected to outlaw ALL racially based redistricting, and when that decision comes down, it will cost Democrat over 20 House seats.  There is speculation that Democrat justices are slow walking it to try to keep it from impacting the 2026 election.
