The important thing is NOT to be dependent on China for our energy, which we are if we use mainly wind and solar, because they are the ones who make most of the equipment and even beyond that provide many of the raw materials to make that equipment. It is more dangerous than being dependent on the Middle East.

"Rising sea levels" has been one of the climate alarmist myths that just doesn't hold water. For a time the UN used to use the South Pacific islands nations of Tuvalu and Kiribati as poster boys for "rising sea level" saying they would be the first countries consumed by the sea. However, a funny thing happened. A university in Australia decided to measure how fast the islands were disappearing, using recon maps from World War II and comparing them to aeriel photographs from today. When they did the comparision, they found that most of the islands were actually growing not shrinking, and at least they had the honesty to publish their findings, even though they put egg on the face of the climate alarmists and the UN.

With all the climate alarmist oracles like Al Gore and Barack Obama buying multi-million dollar seafrong mansions, it is clear that even they do not really believe the hogwash about rising sea levels. After all, actions speak louder than words, as the old saying goes. Heck if we believed some of Al Gore's early rantings, Florida would not be here today.

Then, of course, there are the documented warm periods of the past, like the multi-century Medieval Warm Period, when it was warmer than today. None of the low lying port cities of that era got flooded by "rising sea levels". Thats a fact! Or the granddaddy of all warm periods, the Holocene Maximum, which was much warmer than today and lasted three thousand years. It corresponded with the Bronze Age of human development, when ancient Greek culture thrived. We know where the coastal cities of ancient Greece were located, and again, there was clearly no "rising sea level" inundating them.

The facts do not fit your whack-a-doodle theory.

Republicans have a fair amount of decent legislators in Raleigh, but the leadership in both houses is abysmal. Tim Moore is an embarassment and hopefully he will be gone by the short session so he gets forgotten in the 2024 election. I was utterly appalled by the cave-in on the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, gambling, and marijuana this session, together with allowing Blue Cross to loot its reserves.

Here is an example of pollution dumped on neighbors by a fire in a wind turbine in New York. The bond posted by the wind turbine owner was far short of the damages from fiberglass particles spewed on their property.

Wind turbines also contain serious carcenogins, primarily in the fluids in their gear boxes. These can be released when the wind turbine leaks or catches fire, as many of them. do.

Those living near solar farms should have their land tested. There might be a big payday from solar farm owners and operators.

Slavery and the green agenda? Surely you do not want to go THERE, because they are joined at the hip. Not ancient history slavery, but current modern day slavery. The supply chain for wind turbines, solar panels, and EV components is dominated by China. Many of them are made in Chinese slave labor camps by their oppressed Uyghur minority. So if you promote wind energy, solar energy, or electric vehicles, you are promoting slavery. Ask a Uyghur!

This is climate alarmism run amuck, and very dangerous to plants and animals on Earth. If the predictions of many astronomers are correct, the Earth is about to enter a period of low solar activity, which will naturally cool temperatures. The Earth's most recent cold period, which climatologists call the Little Ice Age from the 15th to 19th centuries corresponds exactly to what astronomers refer to as the Maunder Minimum, a period of very low solar activity. When solar activity perked up in the 19th century, we have seen the current warming period.

Reducing sunlight will have the effect of stiffling plant growth, and therefore food production. These idiots are playing with fire.

Wind and solar are in a class by themselves on federal subsidies, a massive amount of money. There is no way they could stand on their own two feet competing with more efficient means of energy production. What the left calls "subsidies" for other power sources are mainly just normal tax code provisions that apply to expenses of all businesses. With wind and solar, however, it is massive direct payments to the grifters who build it. Indeed, those grifters often build a solar or wind facility, pocket the subsidies, and then sell the solar or wind facility for peanuts because they have gotten their profit from the government subsidy.

Big Bob - The answer to your question is simple. Sweden is a member of the EU and subject to its coersive Green Deal. Of course, that hopefully may change, as Sweden's second largest party, the Sweden Democrats, on which the currect government depends, has called for examation of how to exit the EU, like the UK did. Neighboring Norway had the good sense to never join. It was one of the few countries where the government gave the citizens a choice and they voted NO on the EU years ago. Swedes only got to vote on whether to join the euro currency, and at least they voted THAT down.

The problem is that we have a liberal "tax and spend" county manager, and a pathetic yes man county commission chairman, Frankie Waters who eats out of his hand, coupled with two Democrats who are also tax and spend lefties. I would have thought that Randy Walker and John Rebholz were smarter than to fall in with Waters, but apparently not.

If you look at Frankie Waters history, he was the former chairman of the old Tri-County Telephone who ran it into the ground, where it had to be sold off to an outfit from the western part of the state. Having our county finances controlled by a leftist career bureaucrat, Alligood, and a financial failure like Waters is a recipe for disaster. Career bureaucrat Jerry Langley is the third major force in running county govenrment, and he is an ideological tax and spender, very much to the left.
