When far left "social justice" dogma and homosexual kissing invade math class, something is badly wrong with our schools. What in the dickens is our Beaufort County School Boards doing adopting a new math curriculum filled with "social justice" political propaganda?

Deforestation is a huge problem that the "Green Energy" morons are causing, and even leftwing film maker Michael Moore has figured that one out with his documentary "Planet of the Humans". One of the big things that deforestation causes is flooding. Deforestation to build wind and solar farms caused catastrophic flooding in northern Germany last year, but the greenies were in denial and falsely blamed it on "climate change" when it was actually their climate alarmism that caused it.

As to wild fires, the problem is not doing controlled burns to eliminate the underbrush that causes fires to spread so rapidly before it gets out of hand. That is what is not being done these days and that is the big problem with causing wild fires to be more extensive. And, yes, Stan, it is bad forest management that causes that problem.

Some of the worst destroyers of forests in today's world are the green energy grifters. They do this multiple ways. They clear cut old growth forests in Canada and the US, including North Carolina to make wood pellets to fire "biomass" electric plants in Europe. These are often retired coal plants, and burning wood pellets generates more CO2 than burning coal for the same amount of electricity produced, but they call it "green energy" because it is "renewable". We have some "biomass" electric plants in the US, but most are in Europe. It is just American and Canadian trees that are firing those plants in Europe.

Then there is the clear cutting of forests to actually build the "solar farms" and "wind farms". To look at just one example here. A request under the UK's equivalent of the Freedom of Information Act to Foresty Scotland produced not only documents but an official calculaton by that government agency of how many trees had been cut down in Scotland for wind farms on public land. This did not include pribate land deforestation or any of the solar farms. They calculated that 13.1 million trees had been cut down just of public land to build wind farms in Scotland. Wind and solar are very land intensive and forest loss to build these facilities worldwide is huge.

Then there is the blades for the wind turbines. The core of these is balsa wood which is light and strong, which is covered with resins. The source of the balsa wood is the Amazon rain forests, called "the lungs of the planet" which is being clear cut for balsa wood to make wind turbine blades.

It is rare that a new wind or solar farm is built in Germany without local environmentalists suing to stop it, arguing that it will lead to deforestation, loss of wildlife habitat, slaughter of birds and bats, and other environmental harm. Many of those lawsuits are succesful in stopping wind and solar farms. Last year, the German courts, for example, ruled with local enviornmentalists to prohibt a wind energy company from clear cutting the ancient forest that was the setting for the Grimm Fairy Tales.

Wind energy companies are also bad about water pollution. A wind project in Scotland was fined 5 million euros for a massive fish kill that their water pollution was responsible for, and in Ontanio Canada, four wind energy companies have been indicted for multiple criminal felonies for polluting the ground water. As a result of their pollution, water in one district in Ontario was so toxic people were told not only not to drink it or cook with it but not to even bathe in it.

Smoke is just one of many things that degrade solar power and make it intermittant and unrelible. Some, like nightfall, happen daily. Others like clouds, fog, snow, frost, dew, etc. happen quite often, too. Only kneejerk climate alarmist ideologues would promote solar power for grid baseload. It leads to blackouts, brownouts, and skyrpcketing power bills. And some of the worst times for solar power to crap out are the times that electricity is most in demand like cold snaps. The same is true of wind power which has a tendency to fall off in particularly cold and hot periods, when electricity is most needed. Europe has also shown that months-long "wind droughts" happen that cause wind power to fall off severely for months.

What the globalists are after with their climate alarmist narrative was spelled out by the former President and Prime Minister of the Czech Republic, Dr. Vaclav Klaus who described climate alarmism as "a budding totalitarian ideology that is the greatest threat to freedom , democracy, and prosperity in the world today." President Klaus sets it out in detail in his book "Blue Planet in Green Shackles: What is in jeopardy, climate or freedom?" which has been published in eight languages.

This is a broken record with false claims by the climate crazies. We have seen this before with wildfires in California, Australia, and Washington / Oregon, and we are now seeing it in Canada. The problem in all those past cases, and it this one, too, is that environmentalists have stopped the good forestry management practice of controlled burns of underbrush that used to be done on a regular basis. Without those controlled burns, it is much easier for fires to feed on the excess underbrush and get out of hand. As long as good forestry practices continue to be ignored, we will keep having problems with wildfires.

I remember last year when there were major floods in a part of north Germany, and the knee jerk explanation by the talking heads was "climate change". The real culprit, as is very often the case with flooding was deforestation. And guess why the forests in that area had been clear cut? To put up wind turbines and solar panels to "save the planet". That flooding was not caused by "climate change" but to the contrary was caused by climate alarmism.
Commented: Thursday, June 8th, 2023 @ 4:16 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
IF the Canadian wildfires are what you are beating a dead horse over, wildfires have become a problem ever since the environmental crazies started overruling forestry experts to end the controlled burns that used to keep these big wildfires from happening. This is just like medieval religion - blaming it on climate instead of the real culprit. This is nott a punishment from "manmade climate change" any more than every adverse situation in the Middle Ages was a "punishment from God". But heck, in your Climate Scientology cult, you can even buy "indulgences" like the Pope sold in medieval times. ONly now your cult calls them "carbon offsets" and the "pope" of the climate cult, Al Gore, sells them.

The new pagan cult of Climate Scientology is a lot like the medieval church. Then anything bad that happens was called a punishment from God. Now the climate cultists try to tell us anything bad that happens is a punishment from manmade global warming. Those claims such as related to hurricanes regularly has to be debunked.

What taxpayers should remember in the next election. On this critical vote, Ted Budd was for us but Greg Murphy and Thom Tillis were against us. Greg Murphy is clearly a Thom Tillis style of "Republican" very different from his predecessor Walter Jones.

Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. is a liberal rather than a progressive, and that means he has a lot more common sense, but still takes positions that are not optimum on some issues. He did hit the nail on the head about the globalist elitists using the climate scare to try to grab and control power and the danger that poses to democracy.

Fact. The huge increase in European electric rates happened BEFORE the Ukraine war. Deal with it, moron. German electric rates, for example, were three times what we pay in North Carolina, as a result of expensive and unreliable wind and solar.
Commented: Friday, June 2nd, 2023 @ 9:24 am By: Concerned Taxpayer
Truth and your globalist / progressive narrative are not the same, and in fact are often opposite, Bobbie. There are numerous links to articles on the massive cost of wind and solar over conventional energy in Europe and elsewhere at this Australian based site:
www.stopthesethings.com It is not just Europe. The Labour Party in the state of South Australia, for example, in eliminating coal and moving to wind and solar took the state from the lowest residential electric rates in the world to the highest in the world (they are even higher than Germany, although the national average is lower than Germany since many other Australian states rely more on coal).

You might even search the BO for an article on the massive electric price rises in Europe BEFORE the Ukraine war as one was posted here.

Your opinions of what is "true" are pure BS, Bobbie and they reflect nothing but your ideological viewpoint.

The huge spike in electric prices in Europe happened well before the Ukraine war and in direct response to the EU green deal. Poland's prime minister told his countrymen that the huge rate increases on electricity were due to "the climate policies of the EU". Spain's socialist deputy prima minister warned the EU that the rise in power prices from the Green Deal created a threat of public unrest in her country they were so severe. A few countries made out much better than others, like France which relies mostly on nuclear power and is building lots more. The Russian gas cutoff did not help but it was not the cause. Skyrocketing electric prices had already happened. Norway has come to the rescue of some countries like building a new pipeline to Poland, but again that was in the works before the Ukraine war.

Most of Europe is screwing themselves by not developing shale gas which a number of countries like Germany and the UK have a good supply of but will not develop due to the climate crazies. Norway, however, is going full steam ahead to supply both oil and gas. Hungary is starting to open up its shale reserves, which are estimated to be able to supply their own needs for centuries. Prime Minister Liz Truss briefly opened the UK's shale gas reserves to development, only to have that policy reversed by current prime minister Sunak.

McCarthy needs to go. He has badly betrayed Republicans and taxpayers with his sell out and cave in to Biden on the debt bill. McCarthy needs to be removed as Speaker.

I'm calling Greg Murphy's office tomorrow. This is something that Walter Jones would already be leading the charge against. Murphy seems to be on the fence. If he votes for this excrement sandwick, he should not expect votes from my family or I ever again, and he can expect that we will get behind any conservative primary challenger that comes along. We are getting clobbered by inflation, and that idiot McCarthy wants to let the Democrats keep on spending. That is just unacceptable. The piece linked above that says that McCarthy's deal is worse than the $1.5 Trillion "clean" increase is absolutely right. They haven't even cut out those 87,000 IRS auditor thugs.

All you do, Baghdad Bob, is parrot the globalist narrative on climate alarmism, or perhaps it is the dogma of the pagan religious cult of Climate Scientology. You refuse to engage on the specifics of why that narrative and that dogma is faulty, but let me give you an example that shows it is just a bunch of hot air. The "experts" supporting the globalist narrative on climate alarmist have issued a series of dire warnings on things they claimed woudl happen as a result of their climate "crisis" and several dozen of those have already passed the date by which they were supposed to have happened. Not a single one of them has come true or even come close to coming true. Anyone who continues to believe these con men is a fool.

When I heard this on the radio and the reason for it, I was dumbfounded. This is using a sledgehammer to swat a fly. There are a lot worse things said all the time in politics. So now we have an explanation, the political gamesmanship of John Bell trying to damage potentiial opponents for the next Speaker's race. That stinks. This is the same John Bell who was just one of the kingpins in screwing NC taxpayers with the Obamacare Medicaid expansion and last year screwed electric ratepayers with the NC Green New Deal. Bell is not anyone we would ever want as House Speaker. This is just one more example of why NOT.

Taxpayers should not be involuntary charitable givers through taxation. Thee charities should ask us directly for money. I have absolutely no respect for any of them who hold their hands out to politicians. This is totally corrupt because what they are doing is trading their political support for taxpayers cash from the politicians. The politicians themselves are corrupt in buying votes this way.

Beaufort County's taxes are too high due to the RINO / Democrat big spending coalition running our county government. That needs to change. The scope of the problem is that there is no problem from human produced CO2, except that the fools who fall for the globalist narrative of climate alarmism threaten our freedom and prosperity. As Dr. Vaclav Klaus, past president and former prime minister of the Czech Republic wrote "climate alarmism is a budding totalitarian ideology that is the greatest threat to freedom, democracy, and prosperity in the world today."

If you want to know why the globalist narrative on climate alarmism is so full of hot air, listen to the many prominant scientists with PhDs in televent fields who are interviewed in this British TV documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle": www.youtube.com

Or read Dr. Klaus' book "Blue Planet in Green Shackles: What is in Jeopandy, Ckunate ir Freedom?" It has been published in eight languages and even you should undersand at least one of them, Bobbie.

You are the one without a clue, Bobbie, because all you do is regurgitate the far left narrative in your tunnel vision. You keep deflecting to things that are irrelevant. If you would watch that British TV documentary linked below you would understand the real science involved and how your narrative is nothing but hot air. Learn the relationship between our oceans and the CO2 in our atmosphere and you would grasp why the point you are trying to make is meaningless.

If you had bothered to watch just the opening segment of the British TV documentary "The Great GLobal Warming Swindle" you would know from scientists that 1) the Earth has had as much as 30 times as much CO2 in its atmosphere as we have today, and 2) it did not impact the climate then and it will not today either. These are scientists who do not have their snouts in the pig trough of government grant money tied to promoting the global warming theory like the Climategate rogue secientists. It is easy enough to listen to the scientists who do not have a financial interest in promoting the unfounded manmade global warming theory.

WE got royally screwed by our own "Republican" leaders in the General Assembly with HB951 and it is going to cost us big time in our pocketbooks, and that has already started with the first double digit electric rate increase caused by HB951, NC's Green New Deal. If other places that have gone down this path are any guide, those will be coming regularly from here on out until we get to Germany's level, where residential electric rates are three times what they have been in North Carolina. Thanks a whole hell of a lot, Tim Moore and Phil Berger.

What Big Government Bob conveniently ignores in his usual tunnel vision, or perhaps those who wrote the narrative he,she parrots deliberately left it out is the relationship betweeen the Earth's oceans and CO2. When the Earth in in one of its cooling periods, the oceans absorb large quentities of CO2 and when it is in a warming phase, the oceans release large quantities of CO2. They are by far the largest source of CO2 changes in the atmosphere. There is a lag time of decades from the start of a warming period before the oceans start releasing CO2 and a similar lag time of decades from the start of a cooling period before it starts absorbing CO2.

The current natural warming period started in the mid 19th century at the end of the preceding cooling period, called the Maunder Minimum or Little Ice Age. That would trigger the oceans starting to release CO2 in the early decades of the 20th century and continue to do so until decades after the next cooling cycle starts.

Bobbie may want to junk the tunnel vision of his / her narrative and listen to prominent scientists explain it on the British TV documentary "The Great Global Warming Swindle". Here is the link to that documentary which was broadcast nationally on the UK's Chaneel 4 and is packed full of scientific information from prominent scientists from around the world: www.youtube.com
Commented: Friday, May 26th, 2023 @ 2:13 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
Percentages are what matter, and if you listen to the prominent scientists interviewed in that British TV documentary, in the scheme of things, the percentage of CO2 from humans is insignifcant. Further, actual historical data refutes the argument that CO2 is a driver of warming or cooling. The overall percentage of CO2 in the atmoosphere starts rising decades AFTER a rise in climate termperature, and starts falling decades AFtER a decrease in climate temperature. Thus changes in levels of CO2 in the atmosphere are a RESULT of warming or cooling, NOT a cause of them. Watch the documentary. You might learn something.
Commented: Thursday, May 25th, 2023 @ 6:23 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
CO2 is a very small percentage of the atmosphere. Most of the CO2 going into the air is from natural processes, NOT from humans. There have been periods in Earth's history with a lot more CO2 in the atmosphere than today. More CO2 means better growing conditions for plants, including food crops.
Commented: Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023 @ 2:37 pm By: Concerned Taxpayer
Maybe the enviromental extremists justify in their own minds the slaughter of millions of birds and bats by wind turbines on the basis that it reduces CO2 when those creatures are no longer living to exhale CO2 as part of their breath, but their mass destruciion of trees would seem to go against their stated obsession with eliminates CO2.

Trees absorb CO2 from the atmosphere as part of the photosynthesis process and release Oxygen. Clearcutting forests to build wind farms and solar farms means those treeing are no longer removing CO2 from the atmosphere. 13 million trees, ust on public land in Scotland is a lot of CO2 that is no longer being remvoed from the atmosphere. It would be interesting to calculate worldwide how much CO2 the push for "green energy" has left in the atmosphere by their assault on our forests. The clear cutting of forests in the Amaxon for balsa wood to make wind turbine blades also contributes to more CO2.

Then there is another issue with deforestation. That increases runoff from major storms and therefore flooding. The huge floods in Germany a year or so ago came from deforestation for wind turbines, although the eco-zealots tried to blame it on "climate change"

Spending is always the problem in government. Democrats raise spending, as Biden has done. RINOs too often help them do it, like Mitch McConnell. Republicans cut taxes rather than overspending, as our state legislature has done. Those in control of our county commission are a combination of the Bidens and the McConnells, sadly.

Here is some Congressional testimony that debunks the claim that wind and solar are "clean":
stopthesethings.com

CO2 is NOT "pollution" or "dirty" It is a gas naturally present in the atmosphere that is not harmful to animal life and is a necessary nutrient for plants. Without it, all plant life would die.

As to real pollution, gas fired power plants have always been clean, and since the scrubbers were required on coal plants, they have been, too.

The so-called "clean coal" technology even almost eliminates the CO2 for those who have their panties in a twist about that. It uses coal gassification, a techonology that goes back almost 200 years. We had a coal gas plant in Washington, NC before the War Between the States which primarily provided gas for lighting in houses and on the streets. It was located on part of the lot where the new police station has been built. New Bern had one, too.
