Well, NO, Phil Berger is one of the WORST legislative leaders North Carolina has ever had, a corrupt pay-for-play political boss who constantly sold out to the special interests for campaign payola. He was a one man Tammany Hall. Getting rid of him was one of the finest outcomes in the recent primaries.

Berger did not start out that way. In the early years of the McCrory administration, Berger actually blocked some of McCrory's more liberal maneuvers. Then came the bathroom privacy bill, HB 2, which Berger initially supported and helped pass. Then when the special interests started whining about it, Berger flipped over to the dark side and led the effort to repeal it so biological men can now go into womens' restrooms. After that he stayed on the dark side for the campaign payola the special interests would shower on him. Berger became the driving force behind a whole host of liberal policies; the NC Green New Deal, the Obamacare Medicaid expansion, casinos, stopping key gun rights legislation, banning the NC shrimping industry, etc.. Who even needed Democrats when the special interests had Phil Berger doing their liberal dirty work for them.

Berger was a power bully, a pay-for-play functionary of the special interests, and a disgrace to the Republican Party.

Teachers tend to be more Democrat than Republican and more liberal than conservative. Putting retired teachers on school boards is like hiring a fox to guard the hen house. Most of them have an attitude that teachers know better than parents on most issues and that leads to parents concerns being ignored. Our school board is headed down the wrong path with the way two of our GOP primaries came out. One of those retired teachers nominated is actually a longtime Democrat who only recently switched to "Republican" on paper.

Perrault pulled the wool over the eyes of everyone; the other members of the Tax Cut Team, the county GOP, and the Conservative Club, all of whom backed him. Soon it may be too late for him to do a course correction and get back with the set of principles he promised the voters. It may already be too late, but the big issue is the budget and taxes. If he returns to his pledges to voters on that, and gets back on the conservative side, he may still have time to make things right with those who voted for him and supported him. If not, he is a totally lost soul. Tyre and the Sadler machine will use him and then toss him aside like yesterday's garbage.

The Republican National Senatorial Committee has a long record of supporting RINOs in primaries. I would NEVER contribute a nickel to the NRSC as a result. We should give directly to conservative candidates instead. This election cycle, we will get to replace Cornyn and Cassidy with solid conservatives. Hopefully we can replace Lindsay Graham as well.

Trump's endorsements are hit and miss. He did the right thing in Louisiana, but endorsed RINOs for senate races in NC adn SC. He has stayed out of Texas' primary.

Beaufort County has already been a victim of this Democrat infiltration. We have two Democrat plants on our county commission who align with the two out of the closet Democrats to run out county commission. We now have a former Marc Basnight Democrat as our "Republican" State House nominee. We have at least one Democrat plant on our school board, with another one just nominated who has been an active Democrat most of the time she has been in the county but now claims to be a "Republican".

In this year's county commission race, only two of the nominees have long histories as bona fide Republicans, Stan Deatherage and Ashley Woolard. They have different styles, different internal party alliances, and some different priorities, but both are bona fide Republicans. The thrid, John Edwards, is a bit of a question amrk.

Carolyn Walker, who is the most actively liberal member of the school board is trying to build a liberal power clique around herself. These two ex-teachers will be part of it. Like Walker herself, at least one of them is a longtime Democrat who has switched as a matter of political convenience to Republican on paper to get elected. Walker directly recruited one of them to run and was involved in campaigning for both as well as for another challaneger.

Carolyn Walker wants to be the Queen Bee of the School Board.

Hooray for Idaho! I well remember the NC debacle when our wimpy legislative leadership caved to pressure from the special interests and Governor Roy Cooper to repeal HB2. It was Phil Berger's first sellout of the GOP base, in what turned out to be a new pattern of selling out. It is so good to see that scumbag out of the legislature. That sellout of the GOP base by repealing HB2 led to Christian conservatives staying home in the next legislative election nad the GOP losing its supermajority. Berger stabbed us in the back on that one and a lot of other issues since.

A cabal of teachers and other school personnel pushed two retired teachers for the school board in this past primary and pushed both of them through. Teachers worked the polls for their two teachers union candidates. Ate we going let the inmates run the asylum? Taxpayers, parents, and citizens lost both races to the insider clique.

Good that the video now seems to work without the Google sign-in. Everyone should be concerned about special interest dark money buying our legislative seats. They bought some other seats in our primaries away form conservatives in other districts besides Kidwell's. It is good to see both liberals and conservatives concerned about this threat to our elections. That video said it all. This liberal group does not agree on policy with Kidwell, but they value having an honest legislator, even one they disagree with, over a special interest hack like Armst5rong. Tellingly, they identify Armstrong as the real "sellout".

It was Phil Berger who invited the special interests so deeply into our politics with his corrupt pay-for-play tactics. It is good Berger is gone.

Unless you were asleep during the primary, Washingtonian, it was the SPECIAL INTERESTS who decided the primary with their half million dollars of dark money. They bought a legislator who refused to reveal where he stood on issues, other than his allegiance to Big Ag and RoundUp. I hope you like casinos all over the state, because one of the special interests pushing the RoundUp RINO were the casino interests. I hope you don't like fresh North Carolina shrimp, because one of the main dark money groups pushing Armstrong has very close ties to those who want to put our NC shrimp industry out of business. I also hope you don't like gun rights because the NRA rated Armstrong an "F" on gun issues.

This guy will probably make former RINO legislator Zeno Edwards look like a conservative.
