New study shows huge price spike from green energy in Ontario | Eastern NC Now

NC RINOs just voted to impose the same nonsense on NC

The Fraser Institute has released a study on the impact of "green energy" policies in Ontario between 2008 and 2016.  During this period, the Liberal Party was in power and pushed policies to eliminate coal and to build wind and solar energy capacity. The study concluded that "policymakers made poor policy decisions resulting in rising energy costs, lower employment, lower competitiveness, while achieving minimal environmental benefits."

The North Carolina General Assembly just did the same thing, or worse in passing the Green New Deal HB 951, led by RINO Senate president Phil Berger and supported by RINO House Speaker Tim Moore.

The study concluded that between 2008 and 2016, green energy policies led to a 71% increase in residential electric rates, with Ontario industries paying three times as much as industries in neighboring Quebec and Manitoba.  The burden on industries cost the province 75,000 jobs as its electric rates went up substantially more than other Canadian provinces.

Ontario became the most expensive power market in North America with almost no environmental benefit.

Fortunately, at the last Ontario provincial election, the Conservatives under new leader Doug Ford came to the rescue, focusing their campaign on ending the green energy boondoggle.  Ford's Conservatives flipped a 2 to 1 Liberal majority to a 10 to 1 Conservative majority, the biggest political landslide in Canadian history.  Ford's new Conservative government immediately cancelled every wind and solar project in the permitting pipeline, over 800 or them, and then proceeded to repeal the Green Energy Act.
