Margot Robbie said she almost quit acting after shooting to fame following her break-out role in "The Wolf of Wall Street" in 2013, describing that time in her life as "pretty awful."

The 32-year-old actress recently shared a conversation she had with her mom with Vanity Fair about quitting Hollywood after the spotlight became too much following her role as Naomi Lapaglia in Martin Scorsese's blockbuster,

"Something was happening in those early stages and it was all pretty awful, and I remember saying to my mom, 'I don't think I want to do this,'" Robbie explained. "And she just looked at me, completely straight-faced, and was like, 'Darling, I think it's too late not to.' That's when I realized the only way was forward."

"I know how to go through airports, and now I know who's trying to f*** me over in what ways," she added, recalling a recent paparazzi run-in where she said she wasn't hurt, but definitely "could have been."

"If my mom dies in a car accident because you wanted a photo of me going in the grocery shop, or you knock my nephew off a bike-for what? For a photo?" the actress continued. "It's dangerous but still weirdly nothing feels like it changes."

The actress said she's gotten used to the tabloid stories about her and can't refute every false report out there.

"You want to correct it, but you just can't," Robbie shared. "You have to, I don't know, look the other way."

The "Suicide Squad" star said the life of being a Hollywood star is basically "the highs are really high" and "the lows are really, really low." She concluded that in the end, with luck, it will all balance "out in the middle."

Robbie is married to English film producer Tom Ackerly, and the two are ready to move into their new home in Los Angeles.
