    Sunday, November 3, 2013       Benefits of Prescribed Fire       2:00 pm

    Meet at the Park Visitor Center to discuss Goose Creek’s extensive prescription fire program and how truly valuable it is for our ecosystems. Learn about some of the tools that help keep the burn under control, and get a look at the safety gear used by a burn crew.

    Sunday, November 10, 2013       The Forest of Goose Creek - Past, Present and Future       2:00 pm

    Discover the natural and cultural history of the forest of Goose Creek State Park. Each month this autumn we will explore a different trail section of the park to learn about the forest of the past and present. What are the possibilities for the future? Attend this one hour program and find out! Meet at the Ivey Gut Parking Lot.

    Sunday, November 17, 2013       Waterfowl of the Pamlico       2:00 pm

    Meet at the Park Visitor Center to learn about North Carolina’s exotic species that are hindering our native plants and wildlife. We will also discuss good land management techniques.

    Are you curious about the thousands/millions of waterfowl moving into our area through the cooler months? Meet at the Park Visitor Center to learn about our native and migratory waterfowl.

    Sunday, November 24, 2013       Skins and Skulls       2:00 pm

    Have you ever wanted to feel how sharp a bobcat’s teeth are or what the fur of an otter feels like? By using the skins and skulls of animals you can get up close and personal with wildlife that is only seen from a distance. Meet at the Visitor Center.

Washington, N.C. – The inaugural Rivers East Advanced Manufacturing Academy took place at Pitt Community College on Friday, September 23rd.
Please join us at the park visitor center on Saturday, October 8th from 3-5 pm where we will host a Halloween Wildlife Event.
