This is a case of the reverse “Snake Fable”. We did not know he was a snake when we picked him up. So many good patriotic people worked for this man when he ran against Obama. And then he folded during the debates. Since then, we have witnessed his get even approach to anything related to Trump or his policies and a complete neglect of the principles that he grew up with. It is time for all of us to do a better job of vetting our candidates and sending money directly to those that we support.

Commented on A chance for new beginningsAbout 37% of registered voters in Beaufort County are declared unaffiliated. These are some of the best-informed people that have realized the corruption in both parties. While this is a Gallant decision, it does make it difficult to run for office. I would encourage you to register as a party member in order to get your name on the ballot. We need well-informed patriots to help us take back our County on our School board, City Council and County Commission.

The bill, SB 579, passed the Senate Rules Committee by voice vote. The bill makes it a Class H felony to disseminate obscenity in the presence of an individual under the age of 18. Under current law, it’s a Class I felony. Will this apply to some of the material that is available in some schools? IE Gender Queer, ETC. Will a teacher inviting a cross-dresser or other Alphabet members to come in and perform lude behavior be held to this law? Will there be oversight on material already in public school libraries to see if it defies this law? Oh, I forgot. We can't have Huckleberry Fin in the library but to take out some of the porno being taught in some classes would be book burning. I'm afraid we have already let the camel get his nose under the tent.

If you would like to see a "Chicago Tap Dance" check out the next video of last night's School Board meeting on Cheesman explaining how to teach a child. That was the longest diatribe of nothingness I have witnessed. Typical Cheeseman, "I know everything". Sometimes things cannot be repaired. You just have to start over. Thank goodness we have a nucleus of three board members to build from. Get off the Socialist Woke bandwagon and get back to the three R's. Then we might begin to build a workforce in Beaufort County.

To Concerned Taxpayer:
You are right! The Hillsdale curriculum is filled with fact and patriotism and not woke and liberal agendas. We see our Country falling apart because of this infectious disease. Why would we want this to be perpetrated in our local school system? As we have seen in other school boards, they do not have to roll over and whimper at every whim of the BOE, BOI and the Teachers Union. But the old six members are not fighting for our best interest. Instead of straining over not adopting a sound traditional program that will prepare our students for the real world, why are they not meeting on why 8 of our 13 schools now have failing grades and 35% of our students in Beaufort County are at grade level for reading and math. It all reverts to leadership and management.

Commented on Beaufort County Conservative Club to meet ThursdayBob. That was the case with the Danbury Baptist but not all churches. Christians just want to be left along to worship who and how they please and not have to hide their convictions because it might affend a few people. Churches most of all want government to stay out of their business.

Commented on Beaufort County Conservative Club to meet ThursdayThe Founding Fathers wanted to be sure that there would be no religion sponsored by any state and that the legislature should “make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof” The phrase in Thomas Jefferson's letter to the Danbury Baptist expressing a wall of separation between Church & State was to clarify that no State or Government could declare any one religion and he wanted to be sure that all men would be assured their natural right to worship as they please.
This letter was not part of the Constitution. However, the left and uninformed have tried to use that phrase to “build a wall of separation between church and state to prohibit prayer and other forms of teaching religion. I have heard most of the implied talking points but go ahead and give it your best shot. This country and its Constitution were founded on freedom and most of all freedom of religion.

Commented on Beaufort County Republican Party applies choke holdPolitics has become a dishonorable business. It is now a blood sport with few rules that are enforced. As a result, Good competent people with integrity hesitate to get involved. However, we have reached a point in our community, county, and state where we must make a stand. Only six months now there will be the start of filings for the upcoming election. One of the most important things that we as citizens of Beaufort County can do is look for and solicit competent people to run for office. We are in a real local war to save our children and our way of life. “The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing,”

Stan Deathrage:
Your comments are well-founded. We also have an attorney for the school board based in Raleigh. I guess that is so he can be closer to the DPI and DPE and the Teacher's union. We need local representation and local control of our own destiny. Example: if there had not been a push-back by the public on the Savvas Social Studies curriculum you would have the rainbow flag flying and Gay Month promoted in Beaufort County Schools. The Cry went up, "but, that is what we had to choose from." Now that Cheeseman, not the School Board, says we will not have Savvas; what will we have? Gary Carlton has suggested the "Hillsdale Program". Three new members of the board are in favor of that but we did not hear a grunt from the others.

Big Bob
You are right on the fact that horrible things have been done in the name of deity. Huge amounts of money have been misdirected in the name of Black Lives Matter and others. After all, one-third of the host of heaven was cast into the earth as un-embodied spirits. If you like you are free to hang around with them. However, much good has been done in the real name of deity and the fact that you are free to spout your beliefs is one of them. How about the efforts of Missions and missionaries and the huge amount of dollars that are contributed by churches and organizations for the hungry, homeless, and forgotten? And they will even let you in.

‘Those who do not learn history are doomed to repeat it.’
The quote is most likely due to writer and philosopher George Santayana, and in its original form it read, “Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it.” we do not have to look far to find people that lived through World war 2, Korea, Vietnam, the Berlin Crises, the Killing fields of Cambodia, the war in the Middle East, and the list goes on. But it is not being taught in our schools. Now it stands at our back door to start all over again. "When will they ever learn".

Commented on Choice is the best, and perhaps only, thing that will save our schools and hence our nationA simple and realistic approach is to look for success stories wherever they are and learn or emulate them. Competition in industry creates better products. The same could be true in the School system if the Government would get out of the way. The next thing is management. “If you don’t know where you are going, any road will get you there.” Why are 65% of the students in Beaufort County not at reading and math grade levels?

Commented on How do you turn around a failing school?Great article with information that should be considered in Beaufort County Schools. Engaging parents is a very important part of the formula and until recently our school board has not worked to involve the family and community to help.
While the current administration and liberal news is trying to tear down the family, this past School Board did not have the guts to simply say, “We will not teach CRT in our schools”. So, hate and division are an undercurrent still floating around out there. Now we have three new members that are asking the right questions. It all comes down to leadership and vision. We seem to be quick to display the Rain-Bow flag but where is the American Flag in a classroom or hallway? Are there any images of successful people that students might immolate displayed in the schools? How about discipline and behavioral illnesses? Are these two problems a priority? We know the overall problem is that 8 of our 13 schools rate a D by the DPI. Who is responsible

That is the time of day that you will have a gathering and people driving in from anywhere. Would that not be a place to oversee and police? Oh, Big Bob, now we are going to encourage black people to spend the next 150 years getting even and that will make everything all right.
