NCSU's Taylor highlights key findings from new book 'The End of Consensus'

RALEIGH     Mainstream media accounts missed the mark when treating recent Wake County school board campaigns as fights pitting supporters of diversity against supporters of neighborhood schools, or longtime residents versus newcomers from out of state, or north Raleigh and western Wake County residents against those living inside the Interstate 440 Beltline.

Dr. Andrew Taylor, professor of political science at N.C. State University, presented polling data that contradicted those media narratives during a presentation Monday to the John Locke Foundation's Shaftesbury Society. Taylor's polls were tied to The End of Consensus, the book he recently co-authored on recent contentious Wake school board elections.

In the video clip below, Taylor highlights one factor that did divide residents considering conflicting policies of busing for diversity versus preserving neighborhood schools.
