Conservative challenger trounces RINO incumbent in SC's 7th Congressional district | Eastern NC Now

1st district primary not yet called

ENCNow

Establishment Republican Congressman Tom Rice, one of the 10 Republicans who voted to impeach Trump, has lost his primary in SC's 7th Congressional district to Trump-endorsed conservative State Representative Russell Fry in a landslide..  With almost all the votes in the 7 candidate primary counted, Fry had 51% to Rice's 25%.

In the next door, 1st district the race was closer than expected and still undetermined as controversial incumbent Nancy Mace holds a 7 point lead with almost everything in except pivotal Beaufort County.  SC's Beaufort County was a stronghold for conservative challenger Katie Arrington in a previous congressional bid, and if she wins it by a similar margin this time, it would erase Mace's lead.  There is an apparent glitch in the counting process in the county, and none of it is in yet.

UPDATE: With Beaufort County, SC in, Mace has prevailed in the 1st district.  Unlike Rice, Mace fell all over herself to pledge to support the Trump agenda and point out she had been an early supporter on Trump. She even did an ad standing outside Trump Tower.  Rice, on the other hand praised Liz Cheney and suggested she would be a good House speaker.

Good riddance. Rice was one of the worst RINOs in the House, not only voting to impeach President Trump but frequently voting with the libs on a wide variety of issues. It was telling that Rice went down by over a 2 to 1 margin. The RINO who most needs to go and still has an upcoming primary is Lez Cheney and she is far behind in the polls.
